Descaling Your Brewer
• Your coffee maker must be descaled regularly to maintain optimal
performance.
• When mineral deposits build up in the heating element of your Tech-
nivorm Moccamaster, it can clog the water flow and affect the brew
temperature and saturation time. If not descaled regularly, the brewer
can stop working
• Technivorm Moccamaster recommends descaling your brewer every
80 cycles (easily remembered after every box of 80 count filters) or a
minimum of every 3 months.
• Use dedicated de-scaling products available at your Moccamaster
dealer and in our web shop at www.moccamaster.com.
• (or 150 ml. water + 150 ml. acetic acid)
• Fill the water tank with the descaling solution according to the directi-
ons on the package or 50% water and 50% household vinegar.
• Switch on the unit and wait until the liquid in the tank is completely
empty.
• Repeat the process two to three times with clean water to clean the
device.
Anti-Frost Protection and Extended Storage Guidelines.
• Turn the brewer off and remove the electrical plug from outlet.
• Remove outlet pipe, pull it carefully out of the rubber gasket.
• Empty any remaining water within brewer by holding it upside down
over the sink.
• Replace the outlet pipe before using the brewer again,
• insert smoothly in the gasket at top of the cold water reservoir.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE CLEANING &
MAINTENANCE
1. Power switch should be in the off position.
2. Position outlet pipe as shown in the image.
- Insert smoothly in the gasket at top of the cold water reservoir.
Remove outlet pipe only for cleaning purposes.
- Turn the outlet pipe sideways for easy access to the filter holder.
3. Fill cold water reservoir to the marked level, with fresh cold water.
4. Check the outlet hole in the filter holder for any obstructions, as this will
result in overflowing of the filter holder.
- Place a standard #1 paper filter into the filter.
5. Add the appropriate amount of coffee.
- The approved standard for a full mug (water up to the level indicated on
the water reservoir) is 18-21 grams of filter ground coffee.
6. Place the filter holder on the bracket, position outlet pipe over centre of
the filter holder.
- CAUTION: Scalding may occur if any of these parts are removed during
brew cycle.
7. Cup holder and mug or cup placement:
- Place the cup holder over the caps on the base, directly under the filter
holder as shown in the image (page 30).
- Place the mug or cup (with a capacity of at least 300 cc) on the cup holder.
- We recommend rinsing the mug with hot water to prevent loss of tempera-
ture.
8. Switch the power switch to the “on” position; signal light turns on.
- The brew process will quickly begin; water will be brought to boil, rising
through the brewer across the outlet-pipe and into the filter-holder.
9. Brew process is complete in about 4 minutes, with a temperature
of 92-96°C.
10. The brewer switches off automatically after transferring the water
towards the filter holder.
- Note: Please allow some time to have all liquid flow from the filter holder
into the mug/cup before removing the mug/cup
11. Close the paper cup with the supplied lid, to keep your coffee safe and
easy to carry.
- We recommend disposing of coffee grounds once brew cycle is complete
and rinse the filter holder to prevent clogging.
- Use the provided small brush to clean the opening in the bottom of the
filter holder.
