1 Introduction
1.1 Disclaimer
It is the user's responsibility to use this product
prudently. This product is intended to be used only as
a travel aid and must not be used for any purpose
requiring precise measurement of direction, distance,
or location.
For use in vehicles, it is the sole responsibility of the
owner/operator of the TeleType GPS WorldNav 3000
XL to place and secure the GPS unit so that it will not
interfere with the vehicle operating controls and safety
devices, obstruct the driver's view of driving
conditions, or cause damage or personal injury in the
event of an accident. Do not mount the TeleType GPS
WorldNav 3000 XL in a place where the driver or
passengers are likely to impact it in an accident or
collision. The mounting hardware supplied by
TeleType Co. is not warranted against collision
damage or the consequences thereof.
When used in vehicles, it is the sole responsibility of
the driver of the vehicle to operate the vehicle in a safe
manner, to maintain full surveillance of all driving
conditions at all times, and not become distracted by
the GPS system to the exclusion of safe driving
practices. It is unsafe to operate the controls of the
GPS system while you are driving. Failure by the
driver of a vehicle equipped with a TeleType GPS
system to pay full attention to operation of the vehicle
and road conditions while the vehicle is in motion

1.2 Welcome
Congratulations on purchasing the TeleType
WorldNav 3000 XL! This document will provide you
with information on how to use the GPS.
1.3 In the Box
Upon receiving your WorldNav 3000 XL, open the box
to find the following items:

1.5 Quick Start Method
1. Plug in the WorldNav 3000 XL to the 12v cigarette
lighter in your vehicle. Plug the power cord into
the lower of the two holes on the right side of the
GPS. The GPS will power on when you turn your
car on.
2. If you purchased your WorldNav 3000 XL directly
from TeleType Co., it has been prepared for use
in your home state. You may choose to use a
Secure Digital Card in the future, however it is not
required for immediate operation of the GPS. If
you purchased the Deluxe or Premium WorldNav
version, it includes a Secure Digital Card which
has already been inserted into the GPS (you can
see it at the top of the GPS). The Deluxe version
(1 gigabyte card) has been prepared with the
entire United States and 3 million points of
interest. If you purchased the Premium version, it
has a 2-gigabyte Secure Digital Card inserted into
your GPS. The 2 GB card has been prepared with
the entire United States and 12 million points of
interest. To insert your Secure Digital Card in the
top of the GPS, make sure the metal connection
points on the card match with those visible inside
the device. To remove the card press down on
the card, it will pop up and you can then remove
the card from the slot.

3. Attach your GPS system to the windshield by
putting the suction cup on the window (moisten
cup if necessary) and then by using the flip button
next to the suction cup to achieve suction. Rest
the GPS on the dash to help stabilize it against
vibration.
4. Flip the built-in receiver up and pointed towards
your windshield. The WorldNav 3000 XL will
automatically lock into your GPS position; there is
no configuration required. The GPS will know your
direction of travel only once you begin to move.

5. Press the <I Agree> button with your finger or use
the grey stylus found in the back of the GPS
system.

6. If the GPS has not yet locked into position, you
will see <Where To> and <Menu> at the top of the
map screen. The map will display your last
position centered in the "target" [ ] area. Press <
Where To> on the screen to get to the navigation
screen.

7. Put in your destination by Address, Intersection or
POI (point of interest).
8. The map route from your current location to the
selected location should be displayed.

9. If the GPS is locked into position you will hear
"GPS position fixed, ready to navigate." The
<Where To> and <Menu> buttons will disappear.

2Getting started with your 3000XL
2.1 Review the main menu
Review the main menu. The main menu is accessed
anytime you press the <Menu> space on the touch
screen. There are fifteen entries on the main menu
which is spread out over 5 screens. They are in
alphabetical order:
·2D/3D—to change between two and three
dimensional views. NOTE: You will not see the
names of most roadways on the 3D view but the
map will look more realistic.
·Brightness—to change the brightness of the touch
screen.
·Calibration—allows for the calibration of the screen
using the stylus and a calibration crosshair on the
screen. It is self explanatory and requires your
stylus and a few minutes of time. It keeps your
screen accurate.
·Exit—to exit the menu and the map and enter the
Opening Screen.
·Find—to open the Find Wizard that helps you locate
an address, a Point of Interest (POI), Intersection or
listed Waypoint.
·GPS—to list GPS information such as latitude,

longitude, elevation, speed, heading and strength of
signal.
·Information—provides information on your current
location.
·My Points—lets you into the "My Points" menu so
you can mark or manage your waypoints or set your
home and office address.
·Navigation Panel—lets you into a panel where you
can set two identifying panels on your trip including,
timer, distance to go, odometer, heading, satellite
info and time.
·Night—switches from a night screen to a day screen
and vice versa.
·POI Show—puts you into a POI Display screen to
show a restaurant display, automotive display or
other POI display.
·Route—lets you into the route menu, situated on
two separate screens, in which you can set a new
route, view your route and indicate if you want the
quickest or shortest route or avoid the main
highways, reroute or clear your route, or start a
simulation route.
·System of units—switch between English and
Metric units

·Trip—shows you trip statistics such as total
time and distance traveled
·Volume—allows user to have the volume
change with speed
2.2 Set a route from home
Your home address has been preset into the GPS but
can be changed in the "My Points" Submenu by
pressing <Set Home/ Office>. Follow these directions.

1. Press <Route> in the main menu and then press
<New Route> in the Route submenu.

2. You are sent to the Find Wizard and prompted to
press one of the following: Address, POI,
Intersection, My Points, History or Home. Select
<Address>. Note: You can also get to the Find
Wizard Menu when you press <Find> in the main
menu.
