1. Safety precautions
1.1 Types and meanings of warning terms
This instruction manual divides precautions into four categories according to the level of hazard
(or the severity of the accident).
Be sure to understand the meanings of the following terms and comply with the content
(instructions) of the instruction manual.
Warning Term Meaning
Danger
Indicates an imminently hazardous situation. Failure to observe the
procedures or instructions will result in death or serious injury
Warning
Indicates a potentially hazardous situation. Failure to observe the
procedures or instructions will result in death or serious injury
Caution
Indicates a potentially hazardous situation. Failure to observe the
procedures or instructions will result in minor or moderate injury or cause
damage to equipment or devices.
Note Indicates information that is in particular to be noted or emphasized.
1.2 Safety precautions
Warning
Follow all the warnings in this manual.
1.2.1 Safety precautions for operation
(1) Confirm that the pump connected to the cyclone separator rotates in the correct direction.
(2) Do not operate the cyclone separator until it is mounted firmly on a stable foundation.
1.2.2 Precautions for installation, maintenance, and inspection
(1) Installation, maintenance, and inspection should be done only by workers who have read
this manual and understand the instructions in it.
(2) Be sure to shut off the power to the pump connected to the separator before starting

4. Cautions for installation and operation
4.1 Cautions for installation
(1) Install the equipment on a stable foundation with parts such as mounting bolts.
Warning
If installed on an unstable location and not mounted
firmly, it may fall from the place and lead to personal
injury or damage of surrounding equipment.
(2) The underflow piping should be installed vertically downward and also as short as possible. If it
is bent unnaturally, it may lead to the degradation of the separator’s performance.
(3) The diameter of the pipes connected to the cyclone separator should be equal to or larger than
the size of the connecting ports.
(4) The inflow fluid should be pretreated with a filter or others before entering the separator. If not,
it may cause clogging of the separator.
(5) Maintain the inflow at a constant pressure and at a constant rate by installing a branching line
before it enters the inlet port.
(6) Do not install a valve on the outlet or the underflow line.
4.2 Cautions for operation
(1) Do not apply fluid / oil having high viscosity or containing sludge with a specific gravity of less
than 2.7.
(2) Install a pressure gauge on the pipe entering the inlet port and confirm that the pressure is
appropriate (more than 0.15MPa).
(3) Check for unusual sound or vibration. If you notice it, immediately stop the operation and
contact a service station designated by Teral for consultation.
