1
Using the appliance for the rst time:
Open the sandwich toaster by lifting open the catch.
Wipe the upper and lower toasting plates with a damp cloth
containing a trace of dilute detergent. Remove all traces of
detergent with a cloth damped with clean water. Dry the
toasting surfaces thoroughly.
Brush a very small amount of oil carefully over the toasting
plates, making sure to cover the entire surface. Do this for the
rst time only. It is unnecessary to repeat this operation.
Preheating the toaster
This operation must be performed before you begin the
toasting process.
Close the lid of the sandwich maker. Plug the unit into the
mains and switch the mains power on. The ORANGE power
light will come on. After a short period, the correct operating
temperature has been reached, and the green“Ready”light
will come on.The toaster is now ready for use.
CAUTION:
When the toaster is connected to a live mains
outlet it will be powered and the toasting surfaces will be hot.
Using the toaster
During operation, the temperature“ready” light will go‘ON’
and‘OFF’.This indicates that the unit is functioning correctly.
Cut slices of bread of sucient size, so they do not overlap the
edges of the toasting plates.
For golden toasted sandwiches we recommend lightly butter-
ing the outside of the bread, i.e. the lling is placed between
the plain sides of the bread.
If you wish to butter the insides of the bread, you may nd
that after toasting a number of sandwiches, the indents
(scallops) in the toaster plates may need to be re-oiled with
margarine, butter or cooking oil.
Prepare your sandwiches, place them on the lower toasting
plate and gently but rmly close the lid and click the catch
into place.
If the lling is too thick, open the toaster and remove the
excess. DO NOT FORCETHE LID DOWN.
Allow the sandwiches to toast for about three minutes.
When the sandwiches are toasted: open the appliance
and remove the sandwiches.
Toasting time will be a matter of taste. Your sandwich toaster
will toast both sides of the sandwiches at once and will seal
in the avour. In most cases the sandwich will be cut in half,
by the built-in cutter, or will require gentle pressure with a
knife to separate them. With“hard”llings, stringy bread, or
very thick sandwiches, you may have to cut them apart.
While the scallops are coated with a non stick coating, some
llings may melt and cause the sandwiches to adhere to the
scallops. To free the sandwiches, use a heatproof plastic or
wooden spatula.
NEVER USE A SHARP OBJECT SUCH AS A KNIFE OR STEEL
SPATULA. THIS WILL DAMAGE THE NON-STICK COATING.
WARNING:- During use the toaster plates get very hot, and
should be treated with extreme caution.
During use the surface will get hot. USE OVEN GLOVES IF
YOU NEED TO MOVETHE APPLIANCE.
