Danger Risk of electric shock!
Faulty installation of electrical equipment or
mains voltage which is too high can cause
electric shocks
.
• The device is only suitable for use with a power supply
voltage of 220–240 V~/50 Hz.
• If the unit’s case or mains cable is defective or shows
other signs of visible damage, disconnect the mains
adapter immediately from the socket and do not oper-
ate the device.
• If the unit emits smoke or smells of burning or other
unusual odours, disconnect it immediately from the
power supply and do not operate it.
• The standby button does not disconnect the unit from
the mains supply. For this reason, connect it to an eas-
ily accessible socket so that you are able to quickly dis-
connect it from the mains supply in the event of faults.
• Never open the unit case.
Repairs may only be carried out by an authorised
specialist workshop. Only use parts which conform
to the original unit specifications. There are electrical
and mechanical parts in this unit which are essential in
order to avoid exposure to sources of danger.
• Do not insert any object through the vent slots in the
case.
• Only use the unit in indoor areas.
• Do not operate the unit in moist areas and protect it
from drops of water or splash water.
Also take care not to place vases or other containers of
liquid on or near the unit in order to avoid liquid get-
ting
into the case. If water or other foreign
objects should
enter the case, immediately disconnect the mains plug
and remove any batteries. Send the unit to
our service address.
• Never touch the mains adapter with wet hands.
• Check the unit regularly for damage.
Danger Danger to children!
Children can become trapped in the packing
film when playing and suffocate.
• Do not allow children to play with the unit or the pack-
ing film. Danger of suffocation.
• Ensure that children do not remove small parts from
the unit or take them off of the unit (e.g. the remote
control batteries, control buttons or plug adapters). They
could swallow the parts and choke.
If, however, a battery is ingested, seek immediate
medical attention with the child.
• Never allow children to operate electrical devices
unsupervised.
Danger Danger to hearing!
Loud noise may lead to hearing loss.
There is a potential risk of sudden very high
noise pressure especially when activating the device
which is set to full volume. Besides physical injury this
may also have psychological consequences. Children
and pets are particularly at risk.
• Set your signal source unit volume control to a low
setting.
• When the volume is set high, always keep a certain
distance from the unit and never place your ear directly
on the speaker.
• To avoid damage to health, avoid extended listening at
high volume.
Danger Danger of chemical burns!
Leaking battery acid may lead to chemical
burns.
• Do not allow battery acid to come into contact with
skin, eyes or mucus membranes. In case of contact
with acid rinse the affected location immediately with
plenty of plain water and if necessary see a doctor.
Danger Danger of explosion!
Lithium batteries can explode if handled im-
properly.
• Never attempt to recharge lithium batteries.
• Only use batteries of the same or equivalent type.
• Do not heat or short circuit batteries or rechargeable
batteries and do not dispose them in fire.
Do not expose the batteries and rechargeable batteries
to direct sunlight.

• iTeufel® Magnum 5
Danger Danger of injury/damage!
Incorrect location may result in damage.
• Never use the unit unmounted in vehicles, in unstable
locations, on wobbly tripods or furniture, on under-
dimensioned brackets etc. The device could tip or fall
down and cause injury to persons or be damaged
itself.
• Arrange the device so that it cannot be knocked over
accidentally and make sure that the cables do not pose
a trip hazard.
• Handle the speaker (subwoofer) on the bottom of the
device with care – do not place the device on objects
that could damage the speaker.
• Do not place the unit near sources of heat (e.g. heaters,
ovens, other heat generating equipment such as ampli-
fiers etc.)

Setup and connection
Location tips
• Select a stable, level base.
• Make sure that the environment is clean and free from
dust.
• Avoid placing the unit close to sources of heat or in
direct sunlight.
• Arrange the connector cables so that they do not pose
a trip hazard.
• Do not place any heavy objects on top of the cables or
the unit.
Audio input
You can also connect almost any audio source to the mini
jack plug socket 12 “Line In” on the back of the device
such as computers, MP3 players, video game systems,
televisions etc. The source device only needs an output
with line level. These outputs are configured as stereo
RCA jacks or as 3.5 mm jack plugs. With a correspond-
ing connector cable, you can connect these devices to
the jack 12 “Line In”. You can purchase these cables in
our webshop (www.teufelaudio.com) in the “Accessories”
area.
Video output jacks
Some iPod models (e.g. iPod Touch) are also capable of
video playback and send the signal via the dock connec-
tor jack.
With the iTeufel® Magnum, this signal is still available
as always from the connector jacks 13 “Video” and 15
“S-Video”. You can connect a television via an RCA or
s-video cable in order to view images and movies from
the iPod on a large screen. Audio playback is emitted
from the iTeufel® Magnum.
Antenna
Danger Risk associated with lightning strike!
If you are using outdoor or roof antennas, be
absolutely sure that the antenna has lightning
protection.
Connect the antenna for receiving FM/USW stations
to the jack 16 “FM Ant.” in order to receive FM/USW
stations. This can be a roof/outdoor antenna or a cable
television connection. You will need a coaxial cable for
this.
If an antenna connection is not available at your setup
location, you can use the enclosed throw-out aerial d.
Unwind the throw-out aerial, insert the plug into the jack
16 “FM Ant.” jack and adjust the position of the throw-out
aerial until you have the best possible reception. Then fix
the antenna in place with tape.
Connecting to a power supply
Connect the jack 14 on the back of the device with a
power supply socket via the power cord c.
The Teufel logo on the front of the unit will illuminate in
red.

Bluetooth operation
The Bluetooth transmission technology replaces connector
cables between two devices over short distances (ap-
proximately 10 m) and is most often attributed to head-
sets and hands-free cell phone car kits. With the “A2DP”
specification, it is possible to transfer stereo audio signals
in good quality. Your iTeufel® Magnum can operate as
a receiver for such signals and also control the source in
accordance with the AVRCP specification.
Almost all current cell phones are suitable as a source as
well as other devices (e.g. computer), which function in
accordance with the above specifications (see operating
instructions).
Pairing a Bluetooth device
Before you can establish a connection, both devices must
synchronise with one another – this process is referred
to as pairing. The iTeufel® Magnum can save up to eight
devices, pairing of additional devices will delete the first
ones.
1. Prepare the source device for a Bluetooth connection
(see operating instructions).
2. Push the button 22 “ ” on the iTeufel® Magnum to
select Bluetooth as the source.
3. Push the button 23 “BT pairing”. The notice “PAIRING”
will appear on the display panel and a countdown
from 90 seconds begins – this is the remaining time for
the pairing process.
4. A device called “iTeufel® Magnum” should now ap-
pear on your source device. Select it.
5. You will now be asked for a password – enter “0000”.
The process is now complete and the name of your
source device will appear on the display panel of the
iTeufel®.
6. If necessary, select the iTeufel® as the audio output de-
vice on the source device (see operating instructions).
Playback
• Push the button 22 “ ” on the iTeufel® Magnum to
select Bluetooth as the source.
• Depending on the source device, the following buttons
on the iTeufel® Magnum can control the device:
Button Function

Troubleshooting
The following advice should help you to solve problems. If this doesn’t work, the extensive FAQs on our website will sure-
ly provide you with support. Otherwise, please contact our hotline (see page 3). Take note of the warranty instructions.
Problem Possible cause Solution
The device doesn’t work,
the display is dark.
No power supply. Make sure that the power cord is properly
seated.
Check that the socket is functioning properly
by connecting another device to it.
The speakers produce no
sound.
Wrong source selected. Select the correct audio source.
Volume is set to “0”. Increase the volume.
Poor radio reception. Try to improve the reception by adjusting the direction of the antenna.
Adjust the station for an optimal signal.
iPod does not play. iPod was not inserted properly. Check whether the iPod has been properly
inserted.
iPod malfunction. Take the iPod out of the dock and check
whether the iPod works with headphones.

the iPod or visit the website www.apple.com.
Remote control doesn’t
work.
No line of sight between the remote con-
trol and the device.
Remove any obstacles.
Remote control not pointed properly. Point the remote control towards the device.
Batteries inserted in the remote control with
incorrect polarity.
Insert the batteries the right way around (see
diagram in the battery compartment).
Batteries in the remote control are empty. Insert new batteries.
Reset
Bluetooth radio interference or an improperly connected
iPod may prevent your iTeufel® Magnum from operating
normally. If your receiver is acting “unusually”, you can
restart the device:
1. If necessary, remove the iPod.
2. Press and hold the button 4 “Time” on the device for
approx. two seconds.
The notice “RESET” will appear on the display panel.
Now numerous parameters are reset to the default set-
tings and your iTeufel® Magnum will function properly
again.
Care and cleaning
Regularly clean your iTeufel® Magnum with a soft, damp
microfiber cloth. In the process, be absolutely sure to
observe the following notes:
Danger Risk of electric shock!
In contact with live parts, water can lead to
electric shock or short circuit.
• Ensure that no liquid penetrates the unit.
• Before cleaning, disconnect the mains adapter.
Attention Risk of damage!
Using the wrong cleaning materials may dam-
age the delicate surface of the case.
• If possible use only plain water without any cleaning
products. In case of stubborn marks, a mild soap solu-
tion may be used.
• In no circumstances should caustic cleaning products,
white spirit, thinners, petrol or similar be used for clean-
ing.
