Nomad RFID Reader
QuickStart Guide
This document describes the recommended first steps to take when beginning to work
with the Nomad RFID Reader. All Documentation, Software and Firmware are available
for download from:

NOTE: The RFID Searchlight application must be installed on the Trimble Nomad
Handheld in order to use the RFID accessory. See the Nomad RFID Reader User Guide
for details.
Use of all software and firmware is governed by the then-current End User License
Agreement or Shrinkwrap License Agreement (Software).
Installation
For detailed installation and setup, including RFID Searchlight usage,
please see the Nomad RFID Reader User Guide (see below).
1. Download and install driver and RFID Searchlight
application (see URL above).
2. Remove existing battery door using phillips-head on
stylus.
3. Remove screws from cellular antenna, if present.
NOTE: DO NOT remove the cellular antenna, it will
damage the antenna.
4. Attach Nomad RFID reader to battery door (Insert
spacers first, if non-cellular device).
5. Ensure the reader cable is secured under the wire
guide and allows the battery door to seat properly.
6. Screw six screws to secure unit: 4x battery door, 2x
antenna connection.
7. Attach the USB cable to the Nomad USB boot.

The features and functionality of the Nomad RFID Reader, including details and pointers
about the corresponding software associated with it is described in its user guide. The
respective user guide should be read before using this accessory as there are often
important usage guidelines which, if not followed, can result in damage to the readers.
Mercury API
The ThingMagic Mercury API supports the Nomad RFID Reader and the entire line of
ThingMagic embedded, enterprise, ruggedized, and desktop UHF RFID readers,
allowing the development of RFID solutions across the entire range of form factors and
applications in a short period of time.
