precautions should always be
followed including the following:
WORK AREA
Keep your work area clean and well1. lit. Cluttered and dark work areas invite
accidents.
Do not operate battery chargers in2. explosive atmospheres, such as in
the presence of ammable liquids,
gases, or dust.
PERSONAL SAFETY
Stay alert.1. Watch what you are
doing, and use common sense when
operating a battery charger. Do not
use the Battery Charger while tired or
under the inuence of drugs, alcohol, or
medication.

BATTERY CHARGER USE AND
CARE
Do not force the Battery Charger.1. Use
the correct product for your application.
The correct product will do the job better
and safer at the rate for which it is
designed.
This product is not a toy. Keep it out of2. reach of children.
Maintain the Battery Charger with
3. care. Keep this product clean. Do not
use damaged battery chargers. Tag
damaged battery chargers “Do not use”
until repaired.
Check for misalignment or binding of
4. moving parts, loose or broken parts,
and any other condition that may
affect the Battery Charger’s operation.
If damaged, have the Charger serviced
before using. Many accidents are
caused by poorly maintained battery
chargers.
Use only accessories that are5. recommended by the manufacturer
for your model. Accessories that may
be suitable for one product may become
hazardous when used on another
product.

Product service must be performed1.
only by qualied service technician.
Service or maintenance performed by
unqualied personnel could result in a
risk of injury.
Do not open this charger’s housing.2. Replacement parts are not available
for this charger.
SPECIFIC SAFETY RULES
Maintain labels and nameplates on1. the Battery Charger. These carry
important information. If unreadable or
missing, contact Harbor Freight Tools for
a replacement.
Use as intended only.2.
Store idle battery chargers.3. When not
in use, store the Battery Charger in a
clean, dry, safe location out of reach of
children.
Use this battery charger indoors only.4. Do not expose this product to rain.
Use only size D, C, AA, AAA, and 95. volt rechargeable (NiCD or NiMH)
batteries with this product. Other
types of batteries may explode.
Do not use the Battery Charger if6. it has been dropped, damaged, left
outdoors, or immersed in liquid.
Do not handle the Charger Unit or its7. Power Cord and Plug with wet hands.
Do not plug the Charger into an electrical
outlet while standing on a wet or damp
surface.
Do not unplug the Battery Charger by8. pulling on its Power Cord. Do not pull
or carry the Charger by its Power Cord.
Keep the Power Cord away from sharp
corners or edges. Disconnect the
Power Cord from its electrical outlet
only by grasping and pulling on the
Power Cord’s Plug.
Battery leakage may occur under9. extreme usage or temperature
conditions. If battery uid comes
in contact with skin, wash with soap
and water and rinse with lemon juice
and vinegar. If the uid comes into
contact with eyes, ush with water for

several minutes and contact a physician
immediately.
Do not burn a battery, as it can10.
explode in a re. Contact local solid
waste authorities for instructions on
correct disposal of a battery.
Do not charge a leaking battery.11.
Do not charge batteries longer than12. the recommended charge time.
Overcharging batteries may cause
damage to the Battery Charger and/or
batteries. See page 6 of this manual for
specic battery charge times.
People with pacemakers should
13. consult their physician(s) before use.
Electromagnetic elds in close proximity
to heart pacemaker could cause
pacemaker interference or pacemaker
failure.
14. The battery charger gets hot
during use. The charger’s
heat can build up to unsafe
levels and create a re hazard
if it does not receive adequate
ventilation, due to an electrical fault, or if
it is used in a hot environment.
Do not place the charger on a ammable
surface. Do not obstruct any vents on
the charger. Especially avoid placing
the charger on carpets and rugs; they
are not only ammable, but they also
obstruct vents under the charger.
Place the charger on a stable, solid,
nonammable surface (such as a stable
metal workbench or concrete oor) at
least 1 foot away from all ammable
objects, such as drapes or walls. Keep a
re extinguisher and a smoke detector in
the area. Frequently monitor the charger
and battery while charging.
WARNING: Handling the cord on this15. product will expose you to lead, a
chemical known to the State of California
to cause cancer, and birth defects or
other reproductive harm. Wash hands
after handling. (California Health &

GROUNDING

if you are in doubt as to whether
the outlet is properly grounded.
Do not modify the power cord

When unpacking, make sure the charger
is undamaged. If any parts are missing or
broken, please call Harbor Freight Tools at
1-800-444-3353 as soon as possible.
BATTERY CHARGE TIMES
IMPORTANT! This Charger DOES
NOT feature an automatic shut-off
mechanism, meaning you must
unplug the Charger at the end of
the recommended charge time for
each specic battery. Do not charge
batteries longer than the recommended
charge time. Overcharging batteries
may damage to the Charger and/or
batteries.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

1. Insert the battery(ies) into the Battery
Compartment, making sure the correct
end of each battery is inserted into
the correct pole (+or –) and correct
channel as indicated within the Battery
Compartment.

2. Plug the unit’s Power Cord/Plug into the
nearest 120 volt, grounded, electrical
outlet. The LED’s above the connected
battery(ies) will light up.
Note: The LED will light red when the battery
starts charging.
Note: If the LED does not light up, unplug
the Charger and check to make sure the
battery is inserted properly.
Charge each battery for the3. recommended length of time. Then,
unplug the Battery Charger from its
electrical outlet and remove the battery.

INSPECTION, MAINTENANCE,
AND CLEANING
Procedures not specically
explained in this manual must
be performed only by a qualied
technician.
TO PREVENT
SERIOUS INJURY:
Unplug the charger from its
electrical outlet before
performing any inspection,
maintenance, or cleaning
procedures.
TO PREVENT SERIOUS INJURY:
Do not use damaged equipment.
If abnormal noise occurs or
damage is noted, have the
problem corrected before further
use.
Before each use,1. inspect the general
condition of the Battery Charger.
Check for loose hardware, misalignment
or binding of moving parts, cracked or
broken parts, damaged electrical wiring,
and any other condition that may affect
its safe operation.
AFTER USE,2. wipe external surfaces of
the charger with clean cloth.
Do not immerse the Battery Charger
in liquids or open the housing.
When storing:3. Completely empty the
Battery Charger of batteries. Store the
Battery Charger in a safe, dry, clean
location out of reach of children and
other unauthorized people.
4. WARNING! If the supply cord of
this charger is damaged, it must be
replaced only by a qualied service
technician.
Note: Replacement parts are not available
for this product. Do not open the
charger’s housing.
TROUBLESHOOTING
PROBLEM POSSIBLE SOLUTION
The LED’s do not
illuminate when
batteries are inserted.
Plug the Power Cord1. into a working, 120 volt,
grounded, electrical outlet.
Disconnect the Power Cord2. from its electrical outlet.
Check to make sure each
battery is inserted properly
in the Battery Compartment.
The Charger and
batteries feel warm to
the touch.
This is normal, and is no cause
for concern.

Harbor Freight Tools Co. makes every
effort to assure that its products meet
high quality and durability standards, and
warrants to the original purchaser that this
product is free from defects in materials and
workmanship for the period of 90 days from
the date of purchase. This warranty does not
apply to damage due directly or indirectly,
to misuse, abuse, negligence or accidents,
repairs or alterations outside our facilities,
criminal activity, improper installation, normal
wear and tear, or to lack of maintenance. We
shall in no event be liable for death, injuries
to persons or property, or for incidental,
contingent, special or consequential damages
arising from the use of our product. Some
states do not allow the exclusion or limitation
of incidental or consequential damages,
so the above limitation of exclusion may
not apply to you. THIS WARRANTY IS
EXPRESSLY IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER
WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED,
INCLUDING THE WARRANTIES OF
MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS.
To take advantage of this warranty,
the product or part must be returned to us
with transportation charges prepaid. Proof
of purchase date and an explanation of the
complaint must accompany the merchandise.
If our inspection veries the defect, we
will either repair or replace the product at
our election or we may elect to refund the
purchase price if we cannot readily and
quickly provide you with a replacement. We
will return repaired products at our expense,
but if we determine there is no defect, or that
the defect resulted from causes not within the
scope of our warranty, then you must bear the
cost of returning the product.
This warranty gives you specic legal
rights and you may also have other rights
which vary from state to state.
