Speaker System Model SF-60
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The TOA SF-60 is a 3-way speaker system, a bass reflex
en losure to be driven by 2-way multi-amplifier (bi-
amplifier), designed as permanent installation for profes-
sional appli ations in high-level sound reinfor ement en-
vironments where high-effi ien y and faithful reprodu tion
are required su h as dis os and in live sound reinfor e-
ment appli ations.
The SF-60 reprodu es trans ient response hara teristi s
in the low frequen y range using a larger magnet than
used for the 30 m (12") woofer assembled in the SF-30
speaker system.
The driver unit for the SF-60 is used the HFD-651 high
power driver unit improved for the system, and LE Series
Constant dire tivity (CD) horn ensures a uniform sound
dispersion pattern (90° horizontal by 40° verti al).
The 2-way multi-amplifier driving system is adopted allow-
ing ea h speaker unit to provide maximum performan e,
and further the SF-60 is built in the passive ir uit to or-
re t time, phase and frequen y response for obtaining the
best frequen y response when the multi-amplifier is em-
ployed.
The passive type rossover between the driver and the
tweeter is adopted and its rossover frequen y is set to
higher 10kHz. A high-te h rossover network of — 18dB/
o tave slope at the tweeter is designed enabling to endure
high power input.
The tweeter level an be set with the High frequen y level
ontrol.
The fixing holes for easy eiling suspension are provided
on top, bottom and both sides of an en losure, and four
orners inside the en losure are highly reinfor ed with L
type metals with W3/8" nuts.
The baffle fixed the horn and the tweeter an be turned to
either left-hand or right-hand dire tion to provide wide
dire tivity to the horizontal dire tion where the SF-60 is in-
stalled at either left-hand or right-hand dire tion.
Re essed type earring handles are provided on both sides
of the en losure for installation or transportation, and the
en losure is finished in gray, sho k-resistant polyester
painting.
FEATURES

noise for low frequen y and 80 watts for Mid/High fre-
quen y.
3. 30 m (12") woofer using a larger magnet.
4. HFD-651 type high power driver with LE Series Con-
stant dire tivity (CD) horn (90° horizontal 40° verti al).
5. Exponential horn tweeter.
6. Built in the passive ir uit to orre t time, phase and
frequen y response for multi-amplifier driving.
7. Passive rossover between the driver and the tweeter
set to higher 10kHz.
8. High frequen y level ontrol for the tweeter.
9. Fixing nuts for eiling suspension provided on top,
bottom and both sides of the en losure.
10. The baffle fixed the horn and the tweeter an be
turned.

Input terminal of the SF-60 is divided into Low and Mid/High
frequen ies as the SF-60 is a 2-way multi-amplifier driving
system.
Ensure to onne t polarities ( + , –) of ea h amplifier output
ords to the speaker terminals rightly.
Make the level setting a ording to the environmental on-
ditions, although almost flat frequen y response is obtain-
able as long as the High frequen y level ontrol is set to
the NORMAL.

1 -5dB stands for a standard value when on-
ne ted the same amplifiers for LOW and HIGH
frequen ies. Make the level setting a ording to
the environmental onditions at installation.
2 The rossover between LOW and MID frequen y
range stands for typi al one.
When Slope hara teristi s is hanged, best
hara teristi s is obtainable by hanging phase
of LOW frequen y range into normal. Finally de-
ide the hange at the time of measurement or
test listening.

Frequency Dividing Network

L type metals with W3/8" nuts are provided at four orners in-
side the en losure as shown in the figure. Nuts are lo ated
just at ba k side of the fixing holes of the en losure. Utilize
these fixing holes a ording to installation pla es of the
speaker. Refer to appearan e diagram on the fixing holes.
Caution
The weight of SF-60 is approximately 39kg (86 Ib.). When
suspending this speaker to the eiling, make sure to install
it after investigating stru ture of installation pla es, and
onfirming that the suspending wires and hardware are
heavy-duty to this speaker.
Se ure to tighten eyebolts et . to fix the speaker.
TOA takes no responsibility for any a idents or injuries re-
sulting from the falling of the SF-60 due to in orre t in-
stallation.
If the SF-60 is turned to either left-hand or right-hand dire tion
a ording to environmental onditions, remove the baffle fixed
the horn and the tweeter and turn it by 90° to either left-hand
or right-hand dire tion to ensure wide dire tivity to the horizon-
tal dire tion as well as the installation at the normal dire tion.
Remove the baffle with the following pro edures.
1. Remove six s rews fixed the front grill.
2. Remove 14 s rews of the baffle as shown in the figure.
3. Turn the baffle by 90° after taking the baffle from the en lo-
sure. (Generally the tweeter position should be pla ed
downwards.)
4. Assemble the baffle with reverse pro edures.
