Training
•ReadtheOperator'sManualandothertrainingmaterial
carefully.Befamiliarwiththecontrols,safetysigns,and
theproperuseoftheequipment.
•Iftheoperatorormechaniccannotreadthelanguageof
thisOperator'sManual,itistheowner'sresponsibilityto
explainthismaterialtothem.
•Neverallowchildrenorpeopleunfamiliarwiththese
instructionstouseorservicethemachine.Local

Preparation
•Wearappropriateclothing,includingeyeprotection;

protection.Tiebacklonghair.Donotwearjewelry.
•Evaluatetheterraintodeterminewhataccessoriesand
attachmentsareneededtoproperlyandsafelyperform
thejob.Onlyuseaccessoriesandattachmentsapproved
bythemanufacturer.
•Checkthatoperator'spresencecontrols,safetyswitches,
andshieldsareattachedandfunctioningproperly.Donot
operateunlesstheyarefunctioningproperly.
SafeHandlingofFuels
•Toavoidpersonalinjuryorpropertydamage,use
extremecareinhandlinggasoline.Gasolineisextremely
ammableandthevaporsareexplosive.
•Extinguishallcigarettes,cigars,pipes,andothersources
ofignition.
•Useonlyanapprovedfuelcontainer.
•Neverremovefuelcaporaddfuelwiththeengine
running.
•Allowenginetocoolbeforerefueling.
•Neverrefuelthemachineindoors.
•Neverstorethemachineorfuelcontainerwherethereis
anopename,spark,orpilotlightsuchasonawater
heateroronotherappliances.
•Neverllcontainersinsideavehicleoronatruckor
trailerbedwithaplasticliner.Alwaysplacecontainerson
thegroundawayfromyourvehiclebeforelling.
•Removeequipmentfromthetruckortrailerandrefuelit
ontheground.Ifthisisnotpossible,thenrefuelsuch
equipmentwithaportablecontainer,ratherthanfroma
fuel-dispensernozzle.
•Keepthenozzleincontactwiththerimofthefueltank
orcontaineropeningatalltimesuntilfuelingiscomplete.
Donotuseanozzlelock-opendevice.
•Iffuelisspilledonclothing,changeclothingimmediately.
•Neveroverllthefueltank.
•Replacethefuelcapandtightenitsecurely.
Operation
•Donotoperatetheengineinaconnedspacewhere
dangerouscarbonmonoxideandotherexhaustgasses
cancollect.
•Operateonlyindaylightoringoodarticiallight.
•Beforeattemptingtostarttheengine,disengageall
attachments,shiftintoneutral,andengagetheparking
brake.
•Donotputhandsorfeetnearorunderrotatingparts.
•Usingthemachinedemandsattention.Topreventtipping
orlossofcontrol:
–Watchforholesorotherhiddenhazards.

–Usecautionwhenoperatingthemachineonasteep
slope.Reduceyourspeedwhenmakingsharpturns
orwhenturningonhillsides.
–Avoidsuddenstopsandstarts.Donotgofrom

•Usecarewhenpullingloadsorusingheavyequipment.

–Donotturnsharply.Usecarewhenreversing.

•Disengagedrivetoattachmentswhentransportingornot

•Stoptheengineanddisengagedrivetoattachment
–beforerefuelling;
–beforechecking,cleaningorworkingonthemachine;
–afterstrikingaforeignobjectorifanabnormal
vibrationoccurs.Inspectthemachinefordamage
andmakerepairsbeforerestartingandoperatingthe
equipment.
•Reducethethrottlesettingduringenginerun-outand,if
theengineisprovidedwithashut-offvalve,turnoffthe
fuelattheconclusionofoperation.
•Lookbehindanddownbeforebackinguptobesureof
aclearpath.
•Slowdownandusecautionwhenmakingturnsand
crossingroadsandsidewalks.
•Donotoperatethemachinewhileill,tired,orunderthe
inuenceofalcoholordrugs.
•Lightningcancausesevereinjuryordeath.Ifyousee
lightningorhearthunderinthearea,donotoperatethe
machine;seekshelter.
•Usecarewhenloadingorunloadingthemachineintoa
trailerortruck.
•Usecarewhenapproachingblindcorners,shrubs,trees,

MaintenanceandStorage
•Keepallnuts,bolts,andscrewstighttobesurethe
equipmentisinsafeworkingcondition.
•Neverstoretheequipmentwithfuelinthetankinsidea
buildingwherefumesmayreachanopenameorspark.
•Allowtheenginetocoolbeforestoringinanyenclosure.
•Toreducetherehazard,keeptheengine,mufer,
batterycompartmentandfuelstorageareafreeofgrass,
leaves,orexcessivegrease.
•Keepallpartsingoodworkingconditionandallhardware
andhydraulicttingstightened.Replaceallwornor
damagedpartsanddecals.
•Ifthefueltankhastobedrained,dothisoutdoors.
•Becarefulduringadjustmentofthemachinetoprevent
entrapmentofthengersbetweenmovingpartsand
xedpartsofthemachine.
•Disengageanydrives,lowertheattachment,setthe
parkingbrake,stoptheengine,andremovethekey.Wait
forallmovementtostopbeforeadjusting,cleaning,or
repairing.
•Usejackstandstosupportcomponentswhenrequired.
•Carefullyreleasepressurefromcomponentswithstored
energy.
•Disconnectthebatteryandremovethespark-plugwire
beforemakinganyrepairs.Disconnectthenegative
terminalrstandthepositivelast.Reconnectthepositive
cablerstandthenegativelast.
•Keephandsandfeetawayfrommovingparts.Ifpossible,
donotmakeadjustmentswiththeenginerunning.
•Chargebatteriesinanopen,well-ventilatedarea,away
fromsparksandames.Unplugthechargerbefore
connectingordisconnectingittoorfromthebattery.
Wearprotectiveclothinganduseinsulatedtools.
•Makesurethatallhydrauliclineconnectorsaretightand
allhydraulichosesandlinesareingoodconditionbefore
applyingpressuretothesystem.
•Keepyourbodyandhandsawayfrompin-holeleaksor
nozzlesthatejecthydraulicuidunderhighpressure.
Usepaperorcardboard,notyourhands,tosearchfor
leaks.Hydraulicuidescapingunderpressurecanhave
sufcientforcetopenetratetheskinandcauseserious
injury.Seekimmediatemedicalattentionifanyuidis
injectedintoskin.
•Beforedisconnectingorperforminganyworkon
thehydraulicsystem,allpressureinthesystemmust
berelievedbystoppingtheengineandloweringthe
attachmentstotheground.
•Checkallfuellinesfortightnessandwearonaregular
basis.Tightenorrepairthemasneeded.

adjustment,keephands,feet,clothing,andanypartsof

TractionandStoppingPedal
Thetractionpedal(Figure7)has3functions:tomakethe
machinemoveforward,tomoveitbackward,andtostop
themachine.Usingtheheelandtoeofyourrightfoot,press
thetopofthepedaltomoveforwardandthebottomof
thepedaltomovebackwardortoassistinstoppingwhen
movingforward(Figure8).Allowthepedaltomoveormove
ittotheNEUTRALpositiontostopthemachine.Foroperator
comfort,donotrestyourheelonthereversepadwhen
drivingthemachineforward.

Thegroundspeedisproportionatetohowfaryoupress
thetractionpedal.Formaximumgroundspeed,pressthe
pedalfullywhilethethrottleisintheFastposition.Toget
maximumpowerorwhenascendingahill,havethethrottlein
theFastpositionwhilepressingthepedalslightlytokeepthe
enginespeedhigh.Whentheenginespeedbeginstodecrease,
releasethepedalslightlytoallowthespeedtoincrease.
Important:Formaximumpullingpower,thethrottle
shouldbeintheFastpositionandthetractionpedaljust
barelypressed.
CAUTION
Usethemaximumgroundspeedonlywhendriving

IgnitionSwitch
Theignitionswitch(Figure9),usedtostartandstopthe
engine,has3positions:Off,Run,andStart.Rotatethekey
clockwisetotheStartpositiontoengagethestartermotor.
Releasethekeywhentheenginestarts.Thekeywillmove
automaticallytotheOnposition.Toshuttheengineoff,
rotatethekeycounterclockwisetotheOffposition.

betweenthe2settings.
Note:Theenginecannotbestoppedbythethrottlecontrol.
LiftLever
Toraisetheattachment,pulltheliftlever(Figure10)back;to
lowertheattachment,pushtheleverforward.FortheFLOAT
position,movetheleverintothedetentposition.Whenthe

FillingtheFuelTank
•Fuel-tankcapacity:25L(5-1/2USgallons).
•Recommendedfuel:
–Forbestresults,useonlyclean,fresh(lessthan30
daysold),unleadedgasolinewithanoctaneratingof
87orhigher((R+M)/2ratingmethod).
–Ethanol:Gasolinewithupto10%ethanol(gasohol)
or15%MTBE(methyltertiarybutylether)by
volumeisacceptable.EthanolandMTBEarenotthe
same.Gasolinewith15%ethanol(E15)byvolume

Thepurposeoftheinterlocksystemistopreventtheengine
fromcrankingorstartingunlessthetractionpedalisin
theNEUTRALposition.Also,theengineshouldstopifthe
tractionpedalismovedeitherforwardorreversewithoutan
operatorintheseat.
1.Positionthemachineinawide-openareafreeofdebris
andbystanders.Stoptheengine.
2.Sitontheseatandengagetheparkingbrake.
3.Pressthetractionpedalinforwardandreversewhile
tryingtostarttheengine.
Note:Iftheenginecranks,theremaybeamalfunction
intheinterlocksystem.Repairitimmediately.
Iftheenginedoesnotcrank,thesystemisoperating
correctly.
4.Stayseatedontheseat,withthetractionpedalinthe
NEUTRALpositionandtheparkingbrakeset,andstart
theengine.
5.Riseofftheseatandslowlypressthetractionpedal.
