1. Safety Precautions
1. Be sure to read this manual before servicing and save it for future reference.
2. The lamp becomes extremely hot during operation. Allow the projector to cool for
approximately 45 minutes prior to removing the lamp assembly for replacement.
Do not operate lamps beyond the rated lamp life. Excessive operation of lamps
beyond the rated life could cause them to explode on rare occasions.
3. Never replace the lamp assembly or any electronic components unless the
projector is unplugged.
4. To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not disassemble this appliance. Take it to
a qualified technician when service or repair is required. Incorrect re-assembly
can cause electric shock when the appliance is subsequently used.
5. Do not place this product on an unstable cart, stand, or table. The product may
fail, sustaining serious damage.

2. Servicing Precautions
1. When replace the lamp, be sure to avoid burns your fingers because the lamp
becomes too hot.
2. Never touch the lamp bulb with a finger or anything else. Never drop it or give it a
shock. They may cause bursting of the bulb.
3. This projector is provided with a high voltage circuit for the lamp. Do not touch the
electric parts of power unit when turn on the projector.
4. Do not touch the exhaust fan during operation.

4. Circuit Operation
4.1. System Block Diagram
MT700 consist of the connector, main, chip board. The connector board provides the input
terminal and RS-232 for service ,video input(Composite, S-video, YcbCr) and graph
input(RGB BNC , Y Pb Pr). The main board provides the A/D converter for the graph input
(HDMI, RGB BNC, YPbPr) and decoder function for the video input. That supports also the
scaler and color process function. For the interlace video, the board supports the de-
interlace function. Besides, the boards provide the color wheel driver ,the lamp enable
functions and DMD chip control function.
This video projector can accept the following six kinds of input sources:
(1) HDMI
(2) RGBHV
(3) Component 1
(4) Component 2
(5) S-Video
(6) Composite
As shown in the system block diagram, there are seven boards in the system. They are:
(1) Main Board
(2) DMD Chip Board
(3) Thermal Sensor Board
(4) Color Wheel Sensor Board

(7) Power board
(8) IR board
In the main board circuits, it contains AD converter (AD9883), HDMI receiver (SII9993),
Video decoder (SAA7118), de-interlace processor (FLI2310), Scalar (OPLUS RM-103) and
CPU (RDC2021).

4.1.1. Main Board
4.1.1.1. Overview
1. The Main Board includes five input connectors. They are HDMI input, component 1
input, component 2 input, S-video input, composite video input, RGBHV input and
download connector.
2. The Graphic port input includes (1) HDMI input connector, (2). Component
YPBPR1 and (3). Component YPBPR2. (4). RGBHV connector.
The HDMI input connector can accept digital RGB or YUV format signals. This
input can support 480p, 576p, 720p, 1080i video signals.
The Component 1 and Component 2 can accept analog YPBPR (480p, 576p,
720p, 1080i) signals.
Because a HDMI decoder (SII9993) is used, this projector also can decode HDCP
signals.
3. The Video port inputs (included Component YCBCR1, Component YCBCR2, S-
video and Composite video) will be processed by the video decoder (SAA7118),
then processed by the de-interlace processor (FLI-2310).
If YCBCR signals (480i, 576i) is selected at Component 1 or Component 2 inputs,
the input signals will go to video decoder automatically.
The S-Video and Composite video inputs can accept NTSC, PAL, SECAM signals.
4. Both graphic and video port signals will be processed by the scalar (Oplus RM-
103). The scalar will convert input signals into RGB 8:8:8, 24-bit signals by
downscaling or up-scaling.
4.1.1.2. Graphic Port Input circuit
1. Mux is high bandwidth multiplexers (AD8183). The Mux select YPBPR1 or
YPBPR2 by controlling HDTV_CTRL signal. The output of Mux will go to
AD9883A.
2. A/D-decoder (AD9883A) is used for decoding RGB or YPBPR analog signals to
digital signals (RGB 8:8:8) which provide 24 bit true color resolution.
3. A Schmitt NAND gate (74AHCT132) is used to accept TTL Hsync and Vsync
signals. This projector can support separated (H/V) and composite (H+V) sync
signals. It doesn’t support SOG signal.
4. HDMI Receiver (SII9993) can support HDMI signals. It supports HDTV signals up
to 720p/1080i resolutions.
5. The EDID EEPROM is used to store the EDID data, included PC and Video
timings. The PC and HDCP video player will read the EEPROM data via EDID
link in the DVI-I connector.

4.1.1.3. Video port input circuit
1. Video decoder SAA7118:
The video decoder can accept 480i, 576i via component 1 and component 2 input
connectors. It also supports NTSC M, NTSC-J, PAL (included PAL M, PAL N), and
SECAM via S-Video connector and composite video connector.
This decoder will decode video inputs to ITU-R BT.656 digital format (DI_IN[2.9]).
The interlacing digital video outputs DI_INA[2..9] will go to de-interlace processor
FLI-2310.
2. De-interlace Processor FLI-2310:
The de-interlace processor accepts parallel digital ITU-R BT.656 data with H/V
sync. The output format is YCBCR 4:2:2 (V_IN[0..15]). This output is progressive
output with 31.5K Hsync and 27MHz pixel clock.
The SDRAM (2M x32) U11 is needed when FLI-2310 converts interlace video
input to progressive video output.

4.1.1.4. Scalar and Micro-controller
1. CPU (RDC2021) 25Mhz
This CPU is used for controlling whole electronic boards and peripheral devices
(thermal control and IR receiving). For essential calculation and storage, it has
been set up with SRAM (128K x16), Flash ROM (256K x16) and EEPROM. The
SRAM is responsible for calculation. Flash is stored the system software.

2. Scalar Rembrandt-103
Rembrandt-103 can process dual channel data: graphic port and video port data.
It receives data with YCBCR 4:2:2 (video input) as well as RGB 8:8:8 (graphic
input). Rembrant-1’s processing also needs to install 3 set of SDRAM.
3. EEPROM
The series EEPROM (AT24C128, 128k) stores the system information, included
factory and user data.
4. RS232 Driver/Receiver
This projector can use RS232 download connector to download new software or
control this projector by RS232 commands. The RS232 Driver/Receiver is used to
drive / receive RS232 signals between CPU and download connector.
5. IR receiver:
The front IR receiver accepts IR signal from front side direction. The carrier
frequency is 38kHz.

4.1.2. DLP Processor
1. DLP data processor DDP1010:
The function block of DDP1010 includes video graphic processing, micro-
controller, formatter, real-time control and system support function.
DDP1000 accepts RGB 4:4:4 signals from the scalar, and formats the
signals into XGA DMD acceptable signals.
DDP1000 is designed to work in conjunction with a single 128Mbit RDRAM
and an associated Direct Rambus Clock Generator (DDWG) chip
2. Flash:
The micro-controller of DDP1010 operates entirely from a single external
Flash device (U4). The Flash device provides micro-code, configuration
parameters and PWM sequences.
3. DMD Reset Driver DAD1000:

The DAD1000 will generate DMD reset signals MBRST[0..15] as well as
VCC2 (7.5V) for DMD chip.
4. Motor Controller SH6742:
The DDP1010 electronics support driving three phase, 12 poles, Y
configuration, brushless DC color wheel motor. The DDP1010 electronics
use a combination of back EMF from motor and the CWINDEX signal to
frequency and phase lock the color wheel revolution to 2.5 times of VSYNCZ
rate.
4.1.2.1. Fan control
In this projector, there are four fans for cooling the system.
i. Fan 1 (Main Fan): for cooling the lamp, light pipe and color wheel
ii. Fan 2 (Blower): for cooling the lamp,
iii. Fan 3 (Power Fan): for cooling the power module and ballast
iv. Fan 4 (DMD Fan): for cooling the DMD chip
1. Fan controller MAX6660:
The four fan controllers are used for controlling the four fans independently.
Each fan has a FANSPIN output to each fan controller. The fan controller
can use this signal to detect if the fan is spinning or not. If the fan stops, the
CPU will turn off the DMD RESETZ and PWRGOOD signals, then the DMD
system and Lamp will be turned off.
2. Thermal sensor on lamp box:
The thermal sensor on the lamp box is used for detecting temperature
around the Lamp box.
3. Intake thermal sensor:
The intake thermal sensor will sense the intake temperature. The CPU will
read temperature from the fan controller. The CPU will compare temperature
of lamp box sensor and temperature of intake sensor, then control the speed
of fans. If temperature is out of limit, the CPU will turn off the projector
system.

4.1.4.1. EMI filter
EMI components have CM inductor,DM inductor,CX1,CX2,CY1, and CY2
1. CM inductor:To be used the High μFerrite core,and the inductance is
high (~mH or more 10mH)
2. DM inductor:To be used the low μIron poweder core ,and the inductance
is lower(10uH or more 100uH)
3. X capacitor :To be placed between L and N,and the capacitance is usually
0.1uF to 1uF
4. Y capacitor :To be placed L-G and N-G ,and we often pair the CY1,and
CY2 for EMI

4.1.4.2. Bridge rectifier and filter
Bridge convert the AC input into DC output ,and the CAP is AC filter.
4.1.4.3. Power Factor Correction
The Power Factor Correction (PFC) like a Boost converter . The AC mains voltage
is rectified by a bridge and the rectified voltage delivered the the boost converter .
This using a switching technique ,boost the recdtified input voltage to a regulated DC
output voltage Vo . The boost converter consists of a boost inductor (L) , a controlled
power switch (Q) , a catch diode (D) , an output capacitor (Co) ,and a PFC
controller . PFC’s goal id to shape the input current in a sinsoidal fashion , in-phase
with the input sinusoidal voltage .
