Toshiba’s Portable External Hard Drives make computer backup simple. Our drives take the complexity out of
backing up your computer data by providing easy-to-use backup software for both Windows and Mac users.
Powered by USB 2.0, you can take your files just about anywhere. Just one click and you’re on your way to
creating a digital safety net to help protect your files.
With Toshiba’s Portable External Hard Drives, you’ll enjoy mobile storage space for even the largest digital
libraries. Our 500GB1Drive is capable of storing up to 142,000 digital photos, or 131,000 digital music files, or
410 downloaded digital movies.
Toshiba’s Portable External Hard Drives work with both Mac and PC computers and include software that
makes backing up your computer simple.
Windows users: File and folder backup or complete system backup, it’s your choice. The included NTI® Backup
Now EZ™ software takes the mystery out of what to backup by scanning your system and recommending the
best coverage for your computer. Choose between backing up your files and folders, backing up everything on
your hard drive, or choose both for the most comprehensive coverage. The Drive Space Alert will monitor your
Toshiba drive and let you know when it is getting full.
Recovering a file or your entire computer is simple. Click the restore button and you can recover a file or folder,
boot to your Toshiba Portable External Hard Drive and it will restore your entire computer. We’ve even included
a utility to burn a boot CD/DVD to make the process even simpler.
Mac users: Backing up your Mac’s most important data is easy with NTI’s Shadow™ 4 for Mac. Just select the
files you want to backup, how often your backup takes place and you’re covered. We’ve even included sync, (a
new feature for Shadow), so you can keep your files synchronized between different Macs. The Drive Space
Alert will monitor your Toshiba drive and let you know when it is getting full.
Recovering a file or a folder is a snap, just click the restore button and drag/drop your file where ever you need it
to go. Want to use Apple’s Time Machine? No problem. Our drives are Time Machine compatible right out of
the box.
Advanced options for both Windows and Mac users:
For those who want to customize their backup routine, we’ve added some advanced settings. Options include
the ability to select only the most common file types, (like work documents, pictures, movies, music, etc.),
change how often your backup takes place (hourly, daily, weekly, etc.), change the threshold settings on the
Drive Space Alert, and enable password-protected data encryption, (up to 256-bit), to prevent unauthorized
access to your data.
