This alarm system is operated by the original high security remote control or smart key described
in the car’s owner’s manual. To programme extra remote controls consult your Toyota authorised
retailer.
The alarm system can only be armed and disarmed with original car remote control. The
protection of your car is assured by interior movement and perimetric sensors. The alarm system is
self-protected against system attack.
During an alarm, the alarm siren, the vehicle horn (if applicable on your car), the blinkers, and the
interior light are activated.

2. Features
As well as the alarm function, some extra features are available which can be activated/deactivated.
To activate or deactivate any of them, please contact your authorised retailer.
2.1 Door ajar warning
This option is enabled as default.
If any door or the boot is opened when the lock button is pressed, the buzzer will sound for
10 seconds. The buzzer will stop sounding when all doors are closed, or if the remote control
unlock button is pushed.
In case the bonnet is opened when the lock button is pressed, the buzzer will sound 3 times with
3 beeps.
Note:
– The alarm system will NOT arm if a door is open.
– This function is already implemented for smart key equipped cars.
– This option is not available on all car models.
2.2 Alarm override
This function is used if the user loses the remote, or the remote battery is flat.
When the engine is started by the original key, the alarm will disarm after 5 seconds.
2.3 Automatic door locking
This option is disabled as default. This feature can only be enabled if the car does not have this
function as original equipment. To enable this function, please contact your authorised retailer.
When all doors are closed and you start driving, the system will lock the doors.
The alarm system will unlock all doors when ignition has been switched off.
2.4 Passive arming
This option is disabled as default.
Passive arming mode arms the alarm system automatically without the car being locked. It protects
your car in case you forget to lock it.

VSS1 11
When this option is activated, it will arm the alarm system after following these steps:
1. The engine is stopped, and the key is removed from the ignition.
2. A door has been opened and all doors have been closed again.
3. No door has been opened for 30 consecutive seconds (counter restarts when all doors are
closed again).
If any door is opened when the alarm system is in passive arming, the siren will sound after
14 seconds unless the engine is started or the remote control pressed.
When a door opens, a beep will inform you that passive arming is active, and the alarm status light
(LED) will turn on.
Note:
– During passive mode, volumetric sensors are deactivated.
– If you lock the car by remote control, the alarm system shifts to normal arming mode.
Remark:
– The system does NOT lock any doors, only arms the alarm system.
2.5 Alarm memory
If the alarm went off during your absence, the hazard lights will flash 5 times when the doors are
unlocked, and the buzzer will sound 3 times.
The system memorizes the last three alarm causes. They can be identified at your authorised retailer.
Note:
– If you suspect that the alarm system is sounding due to false alarms, please contact your
authorised retailer.
2.6 Alarm with car horn sound
This option is enabled as default. To disable it, please contact your authorised retailer.
In addition to the standard siren, the car horn can be activated to sound or it can be deactivated.
Note:
– This option is not available on all car models.
2.7 Garage mode
If you have to bring your car to your authorised retailer and do not want to provide the remote
controlled key, you can deactivate the alarm system for a limited period of time.
During garage mode, all the alarm system functions are inhibited.

12 VSS1
This mode has to be manually activated by following this procedure:
1. Disarm by remote control.
2. Insert the key into the ignition and turn to IG ON.
3. Open and close the door 7 times within 30 seconds.
4. Turn the key to IG OFF.
The hazards will flash once (confirmation).
After 5 engine starts, the garage mode will be cancelled. The hazards will turn on twice.
2.8 Arming buzzer
This option is disabled as default. To enable it, please contact your authorised retailer.
You can activate the buzzer to sound when you arm/disarm the system.
Remark:
– This can only be done in accordance with local regulations.
2.9. Installation check mode
The system can confirm correct installation or if a sensor is not working correctly.
If you suspect that a sensor is not working correctly, please contact your authorised retailer.
