OPERATION
TO STOP ENGINE
OPERATING HINTS
MAINTENANCE GUIDE
Start the engine.
Align the Turf Cutter on the lawn.
Set the thickness of the turf required by moving the knob (7) up or
down and locking into position.
Raise the operating lever (5) fully to start the cutting blade.
Hold the handlebar and gently push the lifting lever (6) down to lower
the blade into the ground.
Move the wheel drive lever (8) to ‘I’ position to engage the drive to the
rear wheels and commence work.
At the end of a row lift the lifting lever (6) to raise the blade out of the
ground.
Release the operating lever (5) and disconnect the wheel drive by
moving the drive lever (8) to ‘O’ position.
Position the Turf Cutter to cut the next strip of turf.
If a large area is to be cut it may be preferable not to lift the turf until the
second or third pass has been made. This is so the wheels on the cut
side are rolling on the full width of the tread and not on only half the
width. This will maintain an even thickness of cut turf.
Should the machine encounter an immovable object in the ground,
release the operating lever at once and switch the engine off. Lift the
handlebars to the raised position and pull the machine back far
enough for the turf to be cut with a spade and the object removed. Re-
start the engine and commence work as before.
o
DO NOT work on slopes of more than 20 . If you are working on a
o
slope of less than 20 always work across the slope. Use wheel
chocks on a slope if the machine is left unattended.
DO NOT work the machine across long grass, mow the area first to
leave the grass no more than 1” high.
DO NOT work the machine on very hard, dry ground conditions. If
necessary moisten the lawn with a sprinkler first.
For engine maintenance please refer to engine manufacturers
manual.
Release the operating lever (5).
Set wheel drive lever to ‘O’ position (8).
Switch the ignition to ‘OFF’ position (1).
Turn the fuel tap to ‘OFF’ position (3).
WARNING: THE EXHAUST COVER MAY BE HOT - DO NOT
TOUCH
After every hour of operation stop the engine and remove the spark
plug cap. Check engine oil level (recommended oil SAE 10w/40).
Do not turn the machine on its side for cleaning.
Ensure that the blade is sharp as a blunt blade will result in poor
performance.
Replace the spark plug cap.
Lubricate the sliding clutch, shaft, and drive chain after every use.
Do not pressure wash the transmission assembly.
