1. General Information
CAUTION: The following instructions are meant as information for
physicians, healthcare personnel and patients. Before using the
products, they have to be read carefully. These instructions refer
exclusively to the above mentioned and below described products.

CAUTION: The tubes are not sterile; however, they were produced
and packed in a clean room.
Single-Patient Product: The TRACOE® Silicone Short Tubes are
medical products intended for only one patient. Multiple use on one

and the same patient is allowed. It is recommended to always keep a
tube for replacement handy.
Useful Life: 29 days. Make sure that the
- inner cannula of the tube is free from obstruction
- the tube does not show signs of damage
If maintained well, tubes can be used for up to 6 months. After that, the
tube should be replaced by a new tube. The alternating use of several
tubes does not extend the useful life of the individual tube.
CAUTION: Federal law (USA) restricts the products to sale by or on
the order of a physician.
Packaging Contents: Each packaging contains a tube, a neck strap,
an instruction for use, and a patient information card. On this info card,
there are two detachable labels, on which you can find all details
of the product (REF No., size, length, lot number). The information card
should be kept separately. It makes reordering easier and should be
enclosed in any complaint. The detachable label may be applied, for
example, to the patient’s record.
Sizes/Dimensions: All tubes can be supplied in sizes 08, 09, 10, and
12, and are available with a length of 36 or 53 mm (see Fig. 1 and
Fig. 2 as well as Order Information).
Storage: The products must be stored in a cool and dry location.
Temporary storage for ≤ 30 days at ≤ +50 °C is possible. Protect the
product from sunlight and extreme cold.
Parts/Disposal: The TRACOE® Silicone Short Tubes consist of
high-quality silicone, which is internationally authorised for medical
use. All products are free of latex. Disposal of the products may only
be performed in accordance with the valid national regulations for
waste materials.
2. Product Description
General Characteristics
TRACOE® Silicone Short Tubes respectively consist of a flexible tube
with a neck flange. They do not include an obturator. The tubes are
bent at an angle of 62 degrees. All Silicone Short Tubes show two
openings at the neck flange for fixation by means of a neck strap.
The tubes REF 580, REF 581, REF 582, and REF 583 provide an

connector for the connection of valves (e.g. TRACOE® phon assist I,
REF 650-S, TRACOE phon assist II, REF 655-S, or TRACOE® phon assist I
with oxygen supply port REF 650-SO) or heat and moisture exchangers
(e.g. TRACOE® humid assist I REF 640-S) on their neck flange.
Additionally, the Silicone Short Tubes REF 581 and REF 583 are
fenestrated. The Silicone Short Tubes REF 585 and REF 586 do not
have an connector on the neck flange and are not fenestrated.
The tolerance of the silicone material is excellent. This tolerance
and, also, the high flexibility of the material result in a reduced risk
of irritations or injuries to the trachea like the danger of a formation of
granulation or scar tissue at the tracheostoma.
3. Indications/Contraindications
Silicone Short Tubes were developed for use in stabile tracheostomas
(mainly after a surgical stoma creation) and are used for securing the
respiratory tracts.
Contraindications are, for example, obligation of ventilation, strongly
shrinking stoma, and untreated laryngeal and tracheal stenosis.
4. Instructions for Use
CAUTION: The correct tube will be determined by the responsible
physician.
The Silicone Short Tube is best inserted in front of a mirror. With the
head bent slightly backwards, the tube will be taken at the neck flange
by one hand and, if necessary, the tracheostoma will be pulled a little
bit apart by the other hand; then the end of the tube will be insert-
ed horizontally into the opening of the tracheostoma. During further
insertion the head is gradually brought to its normal position, while the
tube will be inserted simultaneously, at first in an arc movement and
then vertically into the trachea. If necessary, a thin layer of a water-
soluble lubricant can be attached to the end of the tube, facilitating
the insertion.
After inserting the Silicone Short Tube, make sure that the airway
through the tube is free of obstacles.
The Silicone Short Tube will be fixed by a neck strap, whose ends
are fed through two loops of the neck flange respectively.
When using a speaking valve or HME, the corresponding instructions
are to be followed.

4.1 Speaking with the Fenestrated Tube
For speaking with REF 581, either the speaking valve TRACOE® phon
assist I without or with oxygen supply port (REF 650-S or REF 650-SO)
or the speaking valve TRACOE® phon assist II (finger-free speaking
valve REF 655-S) can be inserted into the connector for connection.
During inhalation the valves let air enter through the tube into the
trachea; during expiration the speaking valve occludes and the air flows
beside the tube and, also, through the fenestration through the trachea
into the upper respiratory tract, making voice formation possible.
CAUTION: Speaking valves may only be used for conscious patients
who are able to breathe spontaneously. Patients must be carefully
instructed and monitored by qualified personnel for familiarisation
to REF 650-S, REF 650-SO, or REF 655-S. The valves should be
removed for the night’s rest.
Speaking valves must not be used for patients with laryngeal stenosis,
vocal cord paralysis, severe tracheal stenosis, airway obstructions,
infections of the respiratory tract, or heavy secretion.
Conditions apply likewise to the use of a heat and moisture exchanger
(HME).
5. Cleaning and Disinfection
5.1 Cleaning
The Silicone Short Tubes can be cleaned with normal house-
hold means like, for example, mild detergents. For cleaning
TRACOE® Silicone Short Tubes TRACOE medical recommends the
use of a complete TRACOE® tube clean cleaning set (REF 930-A
or REF 930-B with cleaning powder or REF 931-A or REF 931-B
with concentrated cleaning liquid). The kits each contain a cleaning
tub with a mesh insert, cleaning agent, cleaning swabs, and cleaning
brush. Please follow the respective instructions.
CAUTION: The products must never be cleaned with aggressive
household detergents, denture cleansers, or concentrated alcohol as
these may have a lasting adverse effect on the function of the product.
5.2 Disinfection
Because the upper respiratory tract is never without germs – even in
healthy persons – we do not recommend the use of disinfection.
If, however, disinfection appears necessary, TRACOE medical can
provide, on request, a list of tested disinfectants. This list can also be

accessed on the website of TRACOE medical GmbH (www.tracoe.com).
After cleaning/disinfection the Silicone Short Tube must be rinsed
with distilled water very thoroughly and dried.
CAUTION: Under no circumstances disinfectants may be used that
release chlorine or substances that contain strong alkalis or phenol
derivatives.
6. Returns
Returns of used products are accepted only if accompanied by
a completed decontamination certificate. You can obtain the required
form either directly from TRACOE medical or from the website
(www.tracoe.com).
7. General Terms and Conditions
The sale, delivery and return of all TRACOE® products are carried out
exclusively according to the General Terms and Conditions which can

1. Allgemeine Informationen
ACHTUNG: Die nachfolgenden Anleitungen dienen der Information
der Ärzte, des Pflegepersonals und der Patienten. Vor Gebrauch der
Produkte ist die Gebrauchsanweisungen sorgfältig durchzulesen. Die
Anleitungen beziehen sich ausschließlich auf die o. g. und nachfol-
gend beschriebenen Produkte. Diese Hinweise müssen den mit der
Pflege betrauten Personen bekannt sein.
ACHTUNG: Die Kanülen sind nicht steril; sie wurden jedoch in einem
Reinraum hergestellt und verpackt.

Einpatientenprodukt: Die TRACOE® Silikonkurzkanülen sind Medizin-
produkte, die nur für einen Patienten bestimmt sind. Eine mehrfache
Anwendung bei ein und demselben Patienten ist zulässig. Es wird
empfohlen stets eine Ersatzkanüle zur Hand zu haben.
Nutzungsdauer: 29 Tage, wobei sichergestellt sein muß, dass
- das Kanüleninnenrohr frei ist
- die Kanüle keine Beschädigungen aufweist
Bei guter Pflege kann die Kanüle bis zu max. 6 Monate eingesetzt
werden. Anschließend sollte sie durch eine neue Kanüle ersetzt wer-
den. Der Wechsel mit anderen Kanülen verlängert nicht die Nutzungs-
dauer.
ACHTUNG: Die Produkte dürfen laut bundesgesetzlichen Vorschriften
(USA) nur auf ärztliches Rezept verkauft werden.
Packungsinhalt: Jede Packung enthält eine Kanüle, ein Kanülen-
band, eine Gebrauchsanweisung und eine Patienten-Informationskar-
te. Auf der Informationskarte befinden sich zwei abziehbare Etiketten,
auf denen alle Einzelheiten des Produktes (REF-Nr., Größe, Länge,
Chargen Nr.) vermerkt sind. Die Informationskarte sollte separat auf-
bewahrt werden. Sie erleichtert die Neubestellung und sollte bei einer
eventuellen Reklamation beigefügt werden. Das abziehbare Etikett
kann z. B. auf die Krankenakte aufgeklebt werden.
Größen/Abmessungen: Alle Kanülen werden in den Größen 08, 09, 10
und 12 geliefert und stehen in den Längen 36 bzw. 53 mm zur Verfü-
gung (siehe Abb. 1 und 2 sowie Bestellinformationen).
Lagerung: Die Produkte sind kühl und trocken zu lagern. Eine kurz-
zeitige Lagerung für ≤ 30 Tage bei ≤ +50 °C ist möglich. Schützen Sie
das Produkt vor Sonnenlicht und extremer Kälte.
Bestandteile/Entsorgung: Die TRACOE® Silikonkurzkanülen bestehen
aus hochwertigem Silikon, das für medizinische Anwendungen inter-
national zugelassen ist. Alle Produkte sind latexfrei. Die Entsorgung
der Produkte darf nur entsprechend den geltenden nationalen Bestim-
mungen für Abfallstoffe vorgenommen werden.
2. Produktbeschreibung
Allgemeine Eigenschaften
TRACOE® Silikonkurzkanülen bestehen jeweils aus einem flexiblen

Kanülenrohr mit einem Halsschild. Sie enthalten keinen Obturator. Die
Kanülen sind um 62° gebogen.
Alle Silikonkurzkanülen weisen an dem Halsschild zwei Öffnun-
gen zur Befestigung mit einem Kanülenband auf. Die Kanülen
REF 580, REF 581, REF 582 und REF 583 enthalten auf ihrem
Schild einen Ansatz für die Aufnahme von Ventilen (z. B.
TRACOE® phon assist I, REF 650-S, TRACOE® phon assist II,
REF 655-S bzw. TRACOE® phon assist I mit Sauerstoffanschluss
REF 650-SO) oder Feuchtigkeits- und Wärmeaustauscher (z. B.
TRACOE® humid assist I REF 640-S.) Die Silikonkurzkanülen REF 581
und REF 583 sind zusätzlich gefenstert. Die Silikonkurzkanülen
REF 585 und REF 586 enthalten auf dem Schild keinen Ansatz und
sind auch nicht gefenstert.
Die Verträglichkeit des Silikonmaterials ist ausgezeichnet. Hierdurch
und durch die hohe Flexibilität des Materials wird das Risiko einer Rei-
zung oder Verletzung der Luftröhre ebenso vermindert wie die Gefahr
der Bildung von Granulations- oder Narbengewebe am Tracheostoma.
3. Indikationen /Kontraindikationen
Die Silikonkurzkanülen wurden zum Einsatz bei stabilen Tracheo-
stomen (vornehmlich nach chirurgische Stomaanlage) entwickelt und
dienen der Sicherung der Atemwege.
Kontraindikationen sind u.a.Beatmungspflicht, stark schrumpfendes
Stoma und unbehandelte Laryngotrachealstenosen.
4. Gebrauchsanleitung
ACHTUNG: Die Auswahl der Kanüle ist jeweils vom Arzt vorzunehmen.
Das Einführen der Silikonkurzkanüle geschieht am besten vor einem
Spiegel. Bei leicht zurückgeneigtem Kopf fasst man die Kanüle mit
einer Hand am Schild und zieht ggf. mit der anderen Hand das Tra-
cheostoma etwas auseinander; sodann schiebt man das Kanülenende
zunächst waagerecht in die Tracheostomaöffnung ein. Beim weite-
ren Vorschieben neigt man den Kopf langsam in die Normalstellung
während man gleichzeitig die Kanüle zunächst im Bogen und danach
senkrecht in die Luftröhre einführt. Falls erforderlich kann man zur
Erleichterung der Einführung eine dünne Schicht eines wasserlösli-
chen Gleitmittels auf das Kanülenende auftragen.

Nach dem Einführen der Silikonkurzkanüle ist sicherzustellen, dass der
Luftweg durch die Kanüle frei ist. Die Silikonkkurzkanüle wird durch ein
Kanülenband befestigt, dessen Enden jeweils durch die zwei Ösen des
Schildes hindurchgeführt werden.
Bei Anwendung eines Sprechventils bzw. HME sind die Hinweise der
entsprechenden Gebrauchsanweisung einzuhalten.
4.1 Sprechen mit der gefensterten Kanüle
Zum Sprechen mit REF 581 kann entweder das Sprechventil
TRACOE® phon assist I ohne bzw. mit Sauerstoffanschluss (REF 650-S
bzw. REF 650-SO) oder das Sprechventil TRACOE® phon assist II
(fingerfreies Sprechventil, REF 655-S) in den Aufnahmeansatz einge-
führt werden.
Die Ventile lassen die Luft bei der Einatmung durch die Kanüle in
die Luftröhre eintreten; bei der Ausatmung schließt das Sprechven-
til und die Luft strömt sowohl neben der Kanüle als auch durch die
Fensterung durch den Kehlkopf in die oberen Luftwege, wodurch eine
Stimmbildung möglich wird.
ACHTUNG: Sprechventile dürfen nur bei wachen Patienten einge-
setzt werden, die spontan atmen können. Die Patienten müssen zur
Gewöhnung an REF 650-S, REF 650-SO bzw. REF 655-S von ge-
schultem Personal gewissenhaft eingewiesen und überwacht
werden. Die Ventile sollten zur Nachtruhe entfernt werden.
Die Sprechventile dürfen nicht bei Patienten mit Larynxstenose, Stimm-
bandlähmung, schwerer Trachealstenose, Atemwegsobstruktionen,
Infektionen der Luftwege oder starker Schleimsekretion verwendet
werden.
Entsprechendes gilt für den Einsatz eines Feuchtigkeits- und Wär-
meaustauschers (HME).
5. Reinigung und Desinfektion
5.1 Reinigung
Die Reinigung einer Silikonkurzkanüle ist grundsätzlich mit haus-
haltsüblichen Mitteln wie z. B. milden Detergentien möglich.
TRACOE medical empfiehlt zur Reinigung der TRACOE® Silikonkurz-
kanülen die Verwendung eines der kompletten TRACOE® tube clean
Reinigungssets (REF 930-A bzw. REF 930-B mit Reinigungspulver

oder REF 931-A bzw. REF 931-B mit flüssigem Reinigungskonzent-
rat). Die Sets enthalten jeweils eine Reinigungsdose mit Siebeinsatz,
ein Reinigungsmittel, Reinigungstupfer und eine Reinigungsbürste.
Die jeweilige Gebrauchsanweisung ist zu beachten.
ACHTUNG: Die Reinigung darf keinesfalls mit aggressiven Haushalts-
mitteln, Mitteln zur Reinigung von Zahnersatz oder hochprozentigem
Alkohol durchgeführt werden, da diese die Funktion der Produkte
nachteilig beeinträchtigen können.
5.2 Desinfektion
Da die oberen Luftwege auch beim Gesunden niemals keimfrei sind,
empfehlen wir, auf den Gebrauch von Desinfektionsmitteln zu ver-
zichten.
Sollte jedoch trotzdem eine Desinfektion erforderlich scheinen, kann
TRACOE medical auf Anfrage eine Liste mit getesteten Desinfektions-
mitteln zur Verfügung stellen. Diese Liste kann auch auf der Website

sowie Mittel, die starke Laugen oder Phenolderivate enthalten, ver-
wendet werden.

1. Informations d’ordre général
ATTENTION: Les instruction suivantes sont destinées à informer les
médecins, le personnel soignant et les patients. Lire attentivement
ces instructions avant d’utiliser les produits. Les présentes instruc-
tions se rapportent exclusivement aux produits mentionnés ci-des-
sus et décrits ci-dessous. Ces indications doivent être familières aux
personnes chargées des soins à prodiguer.
ATTENTION: Les canules ne sont pas stériles ; elles ont toutefois
été fabriquées et emballées dans une salle blanche.

Produit pour patient unique: Les canules courtes à silicone TRACOE®
sont des produits destinés à n’être utilisés que par un patient. Il est tou-
tefois permis de les utiliser plusieurs fois sur un seul et même patient.
Il est recommandé de toujours avoir une canule de remplacement à
disposition.
Durée d’utilisation: 29 jours, durant lesquels il faut s’assurer que
- le tube intérieur de canule n’est pas obstrué
- la canule ne présente aucun dommage
En en prenant soin, la canule peut être utilisée durant 6 mois maxi-
mum. Au terme de ces 6 mois, elle doit être remplacée par une canule
neuve. Le fait d’interchanger une canule avec d’autres canules ne
prolonge pas sa durée d’utilisation.
ATTENTION: Selon les prescriptions fédérales en vigueur (États-Unis),
les produits ne peuvent être vendus que sur ordonnance médicale.
Contenu du paquet: Chaque emballage contient une canule, une
bande de canule, des instructions d’utilisation et une carte d’informa-
tion du patient. Sur la carte d’information se trouvent deux étiquettes
détachables, sur lesquelles tous les détails relatifs au produit (no. de
REF, taille, longueur,, no. de charge) sont consignés. La carte d’infor-
mation devrait être conservée séparément. Elle facilite la recommande
et pourrait être jointe lors d’une éventuelle réclamation. L’étiquette
détachable peut, par exemple, être collée sur le dossier médical.
Tailles/dimensions: Toutes les canules sont livrées dans les tailles
08, 09, 10 et 12 et sont disponibles dans les longueurs 36 ou 53 mm
(voir Figures 1 et 2 ainsi que les Informations de commande).
Stockage: Les produits doivent être stockés dans un endroit frais et
sec. Un bref stockage pendant ≤ 30 jours à ≤ +50 °C est possible.
Protéger le produit contre la lumière solaire et le froid extrême.
Constituants/Mise au rebut: Les canules courtes à silicone TRACOE®
sont faites de silicone de haute gamme, qui est homologué dans le
monde entier pour les applications médicales. Tous les produits sont
exempts de latex. L’élimination des produits doit être effectuée dans le
respect des prescriptions en vigueur sur le territoire national respectif
pour l’élimination des déchets.

2. Description du produit
Caractéristiques générales
Les canules courtes à silicone TRACOE® se composent à chaque
fois d’un tube de canule souple avec une plaque de cou. Elles ne
contiennent aucun obturateur. Les canules sont courbées à raison
de 62°.
Toutes les canules courtes à silicone présentent à la plaque de cou
deux ouvertures en vue de la fixation d’une bande de canule. Les
canules REF 580, REF 581, REF 582 et REF 583 contiennent sur
leur plaque un embout pour la réception de valvules (par exemple
TRACOE® phon assist I, REF 650-S, TRACOE® phon assist II,
REF 655-S ou TRACOE® phon assist I avec raccord oxygène
REF 650-SO) ou un échangeur d’humidité et de chaleur (par exemple
TRACOE® humid assist I REF 640-S.). Les canules courtes à silicone
REF 581 et REF 583 sont en sus fenêtrées. Les canules courtes à
silicone REF 585 et REF 586 ne contiennent sur la plaque aucun
embout et ne sont pas non plus fenêtrées.
La compatibilité de la silicone est remarquable. De ce fait et grâce à
la haute flexibilité du matériau, on réduit tant le risque d’irritation et de
lésion de la trachée que celui de la formation de bourgeonnements ou
de tissus cicatriciels sur le trachéostome.
3. Indications / Contre-indications
Les canules courtes à silicone ont été développées en vue d’une uti-
lisation dans le cas de trachéotomies stables (avant tout après un
appui pour stoma chirurgical) et servent à assurer la sécurité des voies
respiratoires.
Les contre-indications sont, entre autres choses, l’obligation de main-
tien de la respiration, une stomie à rétraction forte et des sténoses
laryngo-trachéales non traitées.
4. Instructions d’utilisation
ATTENTION: La sélection des canules est effectuer à chaque fois par
le médecin traitant.
L’introduction des canules courtes à silicone se fait le mieux devant un
miroir. Avec la tête légèrement inclinée vers l’arrière, on saisit la canule
d’une main à la plaque et on ouvre, le cas échéant, avec l’autre main,
quelque peu le trachéostome; on pousse alors l’extrémité de la canule
