SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS. This manual contains important instructions and warnings that should be followed during the installation and maintenance
of all Tripp Lite SmartOnline 3-Phase 20kVA and 30kVA UPS Systems.
UPS Location Warnings
• InstallyourUPSinacontrolledenvironment.
• InstallyourUPSindoors,awayfromheat,directsunlight,dust,andexcessmoistureorotherconductivecontaminants.
• InstallyourUPSinastructurallysoundareathatislevel.YourUPSisextremelyheavy;takecarewhenmovingandliftingtheunit.
• OnlyoperateyourUPSatindoortemperaturesbetween32°Fand104°F(between0°Cand40°C).Forbestresults,keepindoortemperatures
between62°Fand84°F(between17°Cand29°C).
• LeaveadequatespacearoundallsidesoftheUPSforproperventilation.
• DonotinstalltheUPSnearmagneticstoragemedia,asthismayresultindatacorruption.
• TheUPSSystemisdesignedtosupportamaximumloadratingofone(1)powermoduleanduptotwo(2)fully-loadedbatterymodules.Failureto
observethismaximumloadrating(bystackingmorethanonepowermoduleand/ormorethantwobatterymodules)willcausepermanentdamage
to the UPS System and create a potential for serious personal injury.
• TheUPSSystem'scasterwheelsareonlydesignedforslightpositionadjustmentswithinthefinalinstallationarea;theyarenotdesignedfor
moving the UPS System over considerable distances. The wheels are not designed to provide long-term support for the UPS system after final
installation.Mountingbracketinstallationisrequired.(Seesection3,Installation.)
UPS Connection Warnings
• Thepowersupplyforthisunitmustbethreephaseratedinaccordancewiththeequipmentnameplate.Italsomustbesuitablygroundedaccording
to all applicable local electrical wiring regulations.
• Wheninstallingtheunit,verifythatanymaintenancebypasspanelusedisconfiguredcorrectlybeforeapplyingpowertotheunit.
Equipment Connection Warnings
• Useofthisequipmentinlifesupportapplicationswherefailureofthisequipmentcanreasonablybeexpectedtocausethefailureofthelifesupport
equipmentortosignificantlyaffectitssafetyoreffectivenessisnotrecommended.Donotusethisequipmentinthepresenceofaflammable
anestheticmixturewithair,oxygenornitrousoxide.
• TheUPSsystemcontainsitsownenergysource(battery).TheoutputterminalsmaybeliveevenwhentheUPSisnotconnectedtoanACsupply.
Battery Warnings
• YourUPSdoesnotrequireroutinemaintenance.DonotopentheUPS'spowermoduleforanyreason;therearenouser-serviceablepartsinside.
Becauseoftheriskofelectricalshock,onlyqualifiedelectriciansshouldopenthebatterymodule.
• Batteriescanpresentariskofelectricalshockandburnfromhighshort-circuitcurrent.Observeproperprecautions.Donotdisposeofthebatteries
inafire.DonotopentheUPSorbatteries.Donotshortorbridgethebatteryterminalswithanyobject.UnplugandturnofftheUPSbefore
performing battery replacement. Use tools with insulated handles. There are no user-serviceable parts inside the UPS. Battery replacement should
beperformedonlybyauthorizedservicepersonnelusingthesamenumberandtypeofbatteries(SealedLead-Acid).Thebatteriesarerecyclable.

• InternalbatteriesmustbereplacedbyequivalentbatteriesavailablefromTrippLite.
• DonotoperateyourUPSwithoutbatteries.
• Batteryfusesshouldbereplacedonlybyfactoryauthorizedpersonnel.Blownfusesshouldbereplacedonlywithfusesofthesamenumber
and type.
• Potentiallylethalvoltagesexistwithinthisunitaslongasthebatterysupplyisconnected.Serviceandrepairshouldbedoneonlybytrained
personnel.Duringanyservicework,theUPSshouldbeturnedofforputintomanualbypass.
• DonotconnectordisconnectthebatterymoduleswhiletheUPSisoperatingfromthebatterysupplyorwhentheunitisnotinbypassmode.
• TheUPSsystemshipswiththeinternalbatteriesdisconnected.Refertosection7,Adding or Replacing Internal Batteries,forbatteryconnection
instructions.
