1 Introduction
This instruction manual is intended for users of the 'TRUST DIRECT ACCESS II
KEYBOARD‘. The TRUST DIRECT ACCESS II KEYBOARD has 13 special function
keys.
2 Safety
Carefully read the following instructions before use:
1. The TRUST DIRECT ACCESS II KEYBOARD does not require any special
maintenance. Use a slightly damp, clean cloth to clean the keyboard.
2. Do not use aggressive substances, such as petrol or white spirit, to clean
the device. These may harm the material.
3. Do not submerge the device in liquid. This may be dangerous and will
damage the device. Do not use this device near water.
4. Make sure nothing is placed on the power cable. Do not use this device in
an area where the cable can become worn or damaged as a result of
people walking over it.
5. Do not repair this device yourself. If you open this device, you may touch
live components. This device must only be repaired by qualified personnel.
6. Under the following circumstances, have the device repaired by qualified
personnel:
a) The cable or plug is damaged or worn.
b) The device has come into contact with rain, water or another liquid.
3 Installation
3.1 Connecting
Follow the instructions given below to connect the keyboard.
1. Remove the software for your old keyboard from your computer. If necessary,
see the instruction manual provided with your old keyboard for instructions on
how to do this.
2. Turn the computer off.
3. Disconnect the old keyboard.
4. Connect the Direct Access II Keyboard to your computer’s PS/2 port.
5. Turn the computer on.
The keyboard will now work as a standard keyboard. You will have to install the
software provided if you wish to use the multimedia keys.
3.2 Installing the software
1. Insert the CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive. The installation program will
start automatically. If it does not start automatically, carry out the following:
a) Select 'Run' from the Start menu.
b) Type [D:\SETUP.EXE] and click on 'OK' to start the installation
program.
2. Figure 1 will appear.
3. Click on the language you wish to use for the installation.
4. Click on ‘Touch Manager’ to start the installation.
5. Follow the on-screen instructions.
6. Your computer will be restarted after the installation has been completed.

Note: In the example, ‘D:\’ was used to indicate the CD-ROM drive. This may
be different for your computer.
4 Use
4.1 Multimedia keys
Table 1 gives an explanation of the functions of the multimedia keys on the
keyboard. Use table 1 in combination with figure 2.
Key Name Description
A Power Turns the computer off.
B Sleep Places the computer in the
Stand-by mode.
C E-mail Hot key for your e-mail
program.
D Search To search for files or
folders.
E Favorites Hot key for your favorites in
your Internet browser.
F Internet Hot key for your Internet
browser.
G Play/pause Plays and pauses audio
CD’s in Windows Media
Player.
H Stop Stops playing audio CD’s.
I Mute Turns the sound off.
J Previous Skips to the previous track
of an audio CD in Windows
Media Player.
K Next Skips to the next track of an
audio CD in Windows Media
Player.
L Volume down Lowers the volume.
M Volume up Increases the volume.

4.2 Special function keys
The compact design of this keyboard means that the PrtSc, SysRq, ScrLk, Pause
and Break keys must be used in combination with the “Fn” key. This key is located in
the bottom left-hand corner next to the Control key (CTRL).

4.3 Software
If the software has been installed, it is possible to assign the multimedia keys to a:
• Fixed function
• Program or Internet page
4.3.1 Assigning a fixed function
1. Double-click on the ‘Touch Manager’ icon in the taskbar (see figure 3).
2. Figure 2 will appear.
3. Click on the key that you wish to program.
4. Figure 4 will appear.
5. By default, this window is set to ‘Select Pre-defined Functions’.
6. Select the function you wish to assign to the key from the list.
7. Click on ‘OK’.
The key has now been assigned a fixed function.
4.3.2 Assigning a program or Internet page
1. Double-click on the ‘Touch Manager’ icon in the taskbar (see figure 3).
2. Figure 2 will appear.
3. Click on the key that you wish to program.
4. Figure 4 will appear.
5. By default, this window is set to ‘Select Pre-defined Functions’.
6. Select ‘Specify a program or Web page‘ (see figure 5).
7. Select the ‘Browse’ button.
8. A list will be displayed which you will be able to scroll through. Select the
program or Internet page (for example, from your ‘Favorites’ folder) that you
wish to assign to the key.
9. Click on ‘Open’. Figure 5 will now appear.
10. If desired, enter a name in the ‘Key title’ text box.
11. Click on ‘OK’.
You have now successfully assigned a program or Internet page to the key.
Note: The ‘Power’ and ‘Sleep’ keys cannot be programmed.

5 Troubleshooting
Problem Cause Possible solution
The software has not been
installed.
Install the Touch Manager
software.
The Multimedia
keys do not work.
Components of the software
for an old keyboard are still
installed.
See the instruction manual
of the keyboard concerned
for instructions on how to
remove the old software.
The keyboard
layout is incorrect.
The layout has been set
incorrectly.
Change the keyboard layout
by double clicking on the
‘Keyboard’ icon or the
‘Regional Settings’ icon in
the ‘Control Panel’.
The multimedia
keys do not work
with your player.
The keys only work in
Windows Media Player.
Use Windows Media Player.
The problem is not
listed here.
