1For the user and the person responsible for the use of the machine
This manual provides instructions on the correct methods of programming,
configuration, use, and maintenance of the Agrocont system. By complying with the
instructions in this manual, you can ensure the long life and correct operation of the
machine. It is extremely important to read these instructions in good time before the
season of use begins. Keep the manual in a safe place where it is easily available.
Both Tume-Agri Oy, as the manufacturer, and the authorised reseller will be happy to
help you with any issues related to the machine.
2Important points concerning this instruction manual
Since this publication will be distributed in several different countries, the machines
illustrated in the images may vary depending on the country.
You must always follow the safety instructions given in the manuals of the seeder
fertilizer and seeder! This is extremely important for the persons who are responsible
for the repair of an Agrocont system.
In some versions of this manual, the statutory and otherwise necessary shields have
been opened or removed from some images in order to give a better view of the object
being shown. The machine must not, however, be used without the shields in place.
For your own safety, make sure that all shields are undamaged or in place before work
is started.
In this manual, the “left” and “right” side of the machine refers to the sides of the
machine as viewed from the back of the machine looking to the forward running
direction.
Tume-Agri Oy is continuously developing its products and therefore retains the
right to make changes and improvements to them without undertaking any
responsibility to incorporate these changes in products sold earlier.
3Introduction
Agrocont is a control system for seeders and seeder fertilizers comprising a monitor
and a work-machine unit connected by a CAN bus.
All functions of the machine are controlled using the monitor keys and the tractor
hydraulics.
The system’s user interface is based on menus. The monitor has 14 keys, and the
function that each key performs depends on which menu is active and visible on the
screen.
Each key has a symbol illustrating the given function. Additional symbols underneath
the keys indicate that additional functions, such as a sub-menu, can be accessed using
the key.

4Safety instructions
•Before starting to use a machine equipped with the Agrocont system,
familiarise yourself carefully with this manual and, by using the manual, with
the control system as well.
•In order to minimise safety risks, ensure that all the users of a machine
equipped with this control system or persons otherwise involved with the
machine are thoroughly familiar with the contents of this manual and with the
system itself.
•Ensure that the Agrocont system is only used by authorised personnel. You
should be especially careful to ensure that those not permitted to use the
system, such as passengers, do not touch the control unit in the cab while you
are in the machine’s danger zone.
•Special care must be taken during the deployment of the system. Practise
using the system only in places where doing so will not jeopardise the safety
of others or yourself. For example, Make sure that there is enough space for
the markers to move.
•Go through all the functions of the system when practising how to use the
system. Pay special attention to learning how to fluently adjust the controls
while driving.
•The number of hydraulic functions controlled by the system depends on the
basic machine. You must never go under a machine, marker etc. when it is
hydraulically raised. If it is necessary to go under such a machine or object,
the machine or object must first be supported firmly with mechanical brackets!
•Note that controlling hydraulic and electric functions with the monitor in the
cab may cause sudden movements of the seeder’s structures. Make sure that
the danger zone is clear of people and any property that may be damaged.
•When parking a tractor and a piece of working equipment equipped with the
system, lock the tractor, so that unauthorised persons cannot access the system
or change its settings. When parking, you must comply with all the safety
instructions for the seeder fertilizer or seeder.
•Keep the wires, connectors and other system equipment in faultless condition
at all times. Should any damages or malfunctions occur, these must be
inspected and fixed immediately. Operating a faulty machine may be
unpredictable and hazardous!
•The services of an authorised Tume service agent or a contractor authorised by
an authorised Tume service agent should be employed when updating the
software and performing maintenance and repairs. Use only original Tume
spare parts.
•Do not make any alterations to the control system or its programs without
written approval from Tume-Agri Oy.
•Noise level < 70 dB (A)

5Deployment of the Agrocont system
5.1 General
This manual does not cover the installation of the system into a seeder or seeder
fertilizer. Installation into the machine in question should already have been
performed in the factory or by an authorised Tume service agent.
In connection with the installation, parameters depending on the type and model of
the seeder or seeder fertilizer will be entered into the system. Check the parameters
before you start seeding.
6Electrical connection to tractor
For power supply, the system is equipped with a 3-pin DIN-plug. The tractor must
have a compatible socket with DIN-standard dimensions and coupling. The power
supply to the socket must be powerful enough to allow a continuous input of 25 A,
while the voltage must, when the engine of the tractor is running – and even when the
tractor is loaded – remain at least at 12 V, and not higher than 14 V. The power
supply of the socket must be equipped with a fuse (max 30 A).
Programs, setting values and measurement results will remain in the memory of the
Agrocont system even if the power is switched off. Thus, the power supply may be
switched off by disconnecting the plug when the machine is not in use. However,
when continuing to use the machine after the power has been disconnected you should
check the settings for amounts of feeding and the value in the tramline counter. These
settings must be set at the desired values.

6.1 Placing the monitor in the cab
The Agrocont monitor is designed to be used only in tractors with a cab. Over the
course of the season of use, it is recommended to leave the monitor in place in the
cab. When a seeder or seeder fertilizer is detached from the tractor, you should not
disconnect anything except the data cable from the back of the tractor.
The best position for the monitor in the cab depends on the tractor and on the user’s
preference. Usually, the best position is either to the right or right-front of the driver.
When placing the monitor in the cab, you should consider various factors, such as
sunlight, which, when shining directly on the monitor, makes it more difficult to read.
Although Agrocont is not sensitive to electromagnetic radiation from outside, you
should use or keep any mobile phones and other transmitters away from the control
system’s monitor and cable.
Proper installation of the monitor in the cab makes it easier to use the monitor.

6.2 Starting the system
First make sure that the cable connecting the working equipment and the tractor is
carefully attached and secured. To attach the connector, press it lightly and turn the
locking part.
When the system power is switched on, Agrocont’s preset values appear on the
display immediately after the system has loaded. When the system is started again,
the values on startup will be those stored in the memory from when you last used the
system.

8.1 Hectare counters HA and dHA
When you press this key, the total seeded area and the resettable partial areas (1 dha
and 2 dha) appear on the screen one at a time, with hectare as the unit of
measurement. You can reset the partial area values by pressing the “stop/ok” key and
the pole-lifting key (8) continuously for 3 seconds (cf. car odometer).
8.2 Plus
This key is used for changing the settings.
8.3 Minus
This key is used for changing the settings.
8.4 Stop / OK
By pressing this key quickly (for less than 4 seconds), the entered settings are
accepted and alarms given by the system are set as acknowledged.
With a long press (more than 4 seconds) of this key, a red LED light above the key
will be lit to indicate that the machine is in stop mode. When the seed fertilizer is
raised or lowered while this feature is on, the current rhythm position of the
tramlining device and the automatic marker-change function will not react. Stop mode
can be turned off by pressing the Stop/OK key quickly. This key is also used in
combination with the keys on bottom line of the monitor. (These functions are
explained later in this manual).
The position of the tramlining device is shown in the bottom left corner, where the
first of the numbers (e.g. 1: 5) presenting the order in which wheel tracks are formed
stands for the momentary counter value (the current position reached within the
tramlining rhythm), and the value following the colon refers to the value that activates
the switches of the tramlining device that result in tramlining (the tramlining rhythm).
8.5 Tramlining device
8.5.1 Changing the current rhythm position
Wheel track automation is started by pressing key 5, after which the LED light
above the key starts to blink. The current rhythm position is changed with the plus and
minus keys. For example: when starting the seeding of a block, the value must be set
according to the width of the sprayer and the tramlining device.
8.5.2 Changing the tramlining rhythm
To change the tramlining rhythm, press the Stop/OK (4) and wheel track (5) keys on
the same time. The LED light above the wheel track key and the value indicating the
tramlining rhythm on the screen will then start to blink. The rhythm can be changed
with the plus and minus keys from 0 to 9.
0/0 = tramlining off
1/1 = tramlining on constantly
1/(2-9) = stepping tramlines when the machine climbs

15
When tramlining the number on both sides of the colon is the same. In addition, the
controller indicates that tramlining has started by giving an audible signal. Also, the
wheel track value will flash five time. When the machine is next lifted, the counter
will be reset to 1 and the symbol will stop blinking. After the next lifts, the first value
will indicate the current rhythm position and the second the tramlining rhythm. (E.g.
For example, 2/3 indicates that the current tramlining rhythm position is 2 and that a
tramline will be created after every third lift. These kinds of settings are used when
the width of the seeder is 4 m and the spraying width is 12 m.
Every lift of the machine increases the counter value by one. In order to avoid such
unintended increase of the counter value which is caused by the machine rocking
strongly, for example, the system has a delay-time feature which ensures that the
counter value will not be increased by successive impulses during the delay time.
When seeding a whole field, for example, it is necessary that the counter value in the
counter of the tramlining device does not increase with every lift of the machine, such
as at field corners. Neither should the counter value increase due to obstructions, such
as big rocks, which may make it necessary to lift the machine during driving. If you
have to raise the machine in this kind of situation, you can either let the tramline
change when the machine is raised and correct it manually later, or, before raising the
machine, you can press and hold the Stop/OK key for more than 4 seconds, which
puts the system into stop mode, meaning that the marker changer will not react even
though the seeder is being raised and lowered.
Remember to exit stop mode immediately after an additional lift or, when seeding
the whole field, after the whole round.
If you want to start tramlining, the counter value must be set to match the tramlining
rhythm value (for example 5/5). A blinking tramlining number indicates that
tramlining mode has been turned on. To indicate that tramlining mode is being
activated, the system sounds five beeps.
8.6 Down-pressure (only in Tume Nova models)
In Tume Nova models, coulter down-pressure is transferred to the coulters when the
seed fertilizer’s container section is lowered. When this happens, the springs between
the coulter bars of coulter carriers will push the coulter carriers towards the ground.
The lower the container is lowered, the higher the down-pressure. Agrocont stops the
lowering at a set height. This height limit can be adjusted by changing settings. The
down-pressure can be adjusted from 0-15: 0 is the lowest down-pressure, meaning
that the middle part of the seed fertilizer will remain relatively high when the
container part of the seed fertilizer is lowered, and 15 is the highest down-pressure,
meaning that the container will be relatively low.
Selecting the maximum down-pressure
When you press the down-pressure key (key 6, shown in Figure 9), the green light
above the key and the amount of down-pressure (e.g. P=11) will start blinking on the
screen. You can change the down-pressure by pressing the plus and minus keys. The
mode where the light and the down-pressure value blink will be turned off after 5
seconds if the value is not changed before that by using the plus and minus keys or if
the value on the screen is not accepted with the Stop/OK key.

16
Figure 12. Down-pressure value P=11
Figure 13. Maximum down-pressure P=15
Adjusting down-pressure while seeding
The down-pressure value mentioned above is the lowest limit value, which
determines when the system will stop the hydraulic lowering of the machine. The
down-pressure of the machine can be decreased during driving and increased again
using hydraulics at areas where the pressure is lower than the maximum down-
pressure set. If you want to increase the down-pressure during driving you must first
increase the maximum down-pressure electronically and then lower the the machine
hydraulically. In some situations, the maximum value cannot be reached if the soil is
extremely hard and if the container has a light load.
When adjusting the down-pressure manually, the relative amount of down-pressure
is shown on the front panel of the seed fertilizer.
The down-pressure is suitable for seeding when the bearing wheels of the seed
fertilizer containers roll along the ground but do not bear the load caused by the
down-pressure to a significant extent. When this is the case, the seeding depth is as
close as possible to the value chosen from the bearing wheel.

17
8.7 Low-lift function (Tume Nova, Vega and Titan, not JC)
The low-lift function speeds up field-end turns when seeding by removing the need
to raise the seeder to its normal transfer height; instead, the seeder fertilizer is raised
only slightly so as to lift the coulters and the feed wheel off the ground. The rear
harrow can be adjusted so that, when the low-lift function is on, it cultivates the wheel
traces, or so that the harrow will also be raised when the low-lift feature is on.
The low-lift function is activated by pressing key 7, after which a green LED light
above the key is lit. When this key is pressed again, the light and the function are
turned off.
Nova: To adjust the lift height for the low-lift function, click the Stop/OK key and
the low-lift key simultaneously. The value for the low-lift setting will appear on the
bottom row of the screen (e.g. HALF=5). The value, with a range of 1– 9, can be
changed with the plus and minus keys. To save the desired value, press the Stop/OK
key, after which the Agrocont system’s basic view will reappear on the screen.
Vega: The lift height for the low-lift function is adjusted mechanically with the
detent pin of the seed fertilizer’s three-way valve. Use the monitor to switch the low-
lift function on or off.
8.7.1 JC hydraulic rear harrow
Hydraulic rear harrow function is activated by pressing the 7 key when the
green LED lights up on the key, when pressed a second it time turns off
and operation stops.

8.8 Extra-lift function
The extra-lift function is controlled with the 8 key. A red light above the key
indicates that the feature is switched on. When the extra-lift function is on, the system
allows only the marker to be raised/lowered when you try to hydraulically raise or
lower the seeder. This feature is for situations where you do not wish to stop seeding
but need to raise the marker due to an obstruction.
Note: Remember to disable the extra-lift function after passing the obstruction!
If you do not disable this function, the seeder fertilizer cannot be raised at the field-
end, which causes SERIOUS DAMAGE when reversing, for example.
Figure 16. Extra-lift function activated
8.9 Left marker
8.10 Right marker
Markers are controlled with the 9 (left) and 10 (right) keys. An LED light
above the key will be lit if a marker is activated. A light above both keys
indicates that the automatic marker-change function is activated. When you raise
or lower the seed fertilizer, the markers are raised and lowered simultaneously (except
when using the low-lift feature, described in the previous section of this manual).
Because the operation of the markers is based on two-phase hydraulics, the shanks
will not be lowered when you lower the seeder with “floating” hydraulics even though
the seeder will be lowered.
•Markers not in use: The lamps above keys 9 and 10 are off. When the
seeder is raised or lowered, the markers will not be lowered.
•Ony the left marker is in use: The LED light above key 9 is on. When the
seeder is raised or lowered, the left marker is raised or lowered
simultaneously.
•Only the right marker in use: The LED light above key 10 is on. When
the seeder is raised or lowered, the right marker is raised or lowered
simultaneously.

•Automatic marker-change function: When the seeder is raised, first
deactivate both markers, then activate the marker you wish to be
lowered first, and then activate the other marker. Consequently, when
seeding, the markers will be lowered in turn after field-end turns.
•Raising the feeder while seeding when you do not want the current position
reached in the tramlining rhythm to be increased or the marker to be
changed: Before the seeder is raised, press the Stop/OK key to enable
Stop/OK mode. The seeder can then be raised and lowered to avoid an
obstruction, such as a rock, without causing the tramlining device to
react or the marker changer to change. Remember to disable the
Stop/OK mode after passing the obstruction!
•Raising a marker without interrupting seeding: See section 8.8, Extra-lift
function.
•Starting seeding halfway through a block when both markers need to be
lowered simultaneously: First activate one of the markers, then lower the
seeder. When the marker has been lowered, deactivate the marker and
activate the other marker. Then continue to lower the seeder
hydraulically, which will result in the other marker being lowered, too.
After this, you can continue seeding. When you raise the seeder, both
markers will be raised simultaneously.
•To start filling containers: Switch power off for the markers, so that the
marker arms will not accidentally be lowered when lowering the seeder.

8.11 Ritsi marking (Marking the tramlines into the field)
The Agrocont device includes the so-called Ritsi marking for the sowing period of
2015. This means that during sowing a track is marked into the field mechanically to
mark the spot where the furrow is. This enables precise spraying before the plant
begins to sprout. This function is needed, for example, when using certain pesticides
for Turnip rape.
In Tume, the marking is carried out in such a way that in the stage following the
stage one of furrowing (such as stage 1 / 4, 1 / 5 etc.), both coulters come down and
one coulter draws a line to the centre of the previously sown furrow stage. So the
mark works as a centre mark during spraying.
The Ritsi marking function is switched on by pressing the “STOP/OK” button and
the “+” button on the screen at the same time. The screen then shows how the line
between the furrowing stage and the furrow density starts to alternate with the letter
R. Then we know that the Ritsi marking function is in use. CAUTION! Please note
that both coulters come down at the 1st stage of furrowing and this could put the
environment at risk.
The Ritsi marking function is switched off by pressing the “STOP/OK” button and
the “-“ button on the screen at the same time. The letter R disappears from the screen
and a continuous line is shown.
