Thankyouforpurchasing PA962.(The operation of PA963 is same as PA962's)
YourPA962isarugged,compact andlightweightpalm-sizecomputer.It
utilizestheWindowsCE6operating system,andincorporatesanintegralbar
codescanning laserdevice,colorLCDwithtouchscreen,keypad,IrDA
interface,andwirelesscommunicationcapability.It providestheuserwitha
standardWindows-basedenvironmentforcustomizingandoperatingthe
device.
ThisPA962productreferenceguidewillguideyoutoaccessyourPA962.

NOTICE
Thisunitisequipped withabattery pack and backup battery. It ispossiblethat the Unitech
PA962 maynot power-on due tobatterydischarge asaresultofstorage.
Intheabovesituation,plugthePA962totheRS232 orUSB cable whichiswithDCinportor
puttheunitintothe UnitechPA960/PA962Cradle(with12V/2AAC-DCadapter),andrecharge
theunitfor16 hours inordertofullychargeitsbackupbattery.
Thebackup batterywill chargefromexternalpowerorthe mainbattery(ifthe main battery still
hasenoughpowertoturnon).Inthe eventthe main batteryisfullycharged,refrainfromusing
thePA962for16 hoursinorderforthemainbattery tofullychargethebackup battery.
Backing-updatabybackupbatteryonlywithoutthemain batteryinstalledin batterycompart-
mentmaytakeaslongas6hours.Therefore,inordertopreventdataprotectionfailuredue to
backupbatteryfailure,do notleavethe PA962withouttherechargeable batterypack installed,
orwithoutconnectiontoACpowerforanextendedperiodoftime.

TherearethreewaystoprovidepowertothePA962:
NOTE:Datayou entermaynot be properlystoreduntil the built-inbackup battery
hasbeen adequatelycharged.Pleasebe remided toturnon theback up battery
beforeyou charge theterminal.
Installing theBatteryPack
Removethebatterycompartment door
(located onthelowerbackside ofthe
unit).
Positionthebatterypackwiththe labelsidetowardsyou,
andthe batterypackstraptowardsthe bottomoftheunit.
Insertand fullyseat the batterypack, making surethe
shapeofthe batterypackfitsthe shapeofthebattery
compartment.

IfaPCMCIAcardisinsertedintothe PA962 without
previouslyattachingaPullingTag,thecardcan be
removedbyaffixingalengthofadhesivetapetothe
surfaceofthe cardandpullingthecardoutbypulling
outwardonthepieceoftape.

Pulling Tagssimplifythe removalofPCMCIAcardsfromthe
PA962.BeforeinsertingaPCMCIAcard,removeoneofthe
threePulling Tagsfromthe PullingTag sheetandadhereitto
bothsidesofthe PCMCIAcard,leavingashort (approx. 89) tab.
Toremovethe PCMCIAcard,simplypull outwardonthistab.
UsingtheStylus
CAUTION:NeveruseanythingotherthanthePA9627sstylusonthe
screen. Usinganotherobjectasastyluscouldcausepermanent
damage.
Towritedataintoafieldonaform,usethestylustoprinttheletters
ornumbers.Useverylightpressure.

driverofPA962stylus.

TheUnitechPA962 welcomescreenappears.The
WindowsCE6screen will appearshortlythereafter.
Adjusting ScreenBrightness
Press [FUNC] keyand Cursorkeytodecrease
orincreasescreen brightness.
Calibrating thePA962
ThePA962willpromptyoutocalibratetheunitby
tappingasequenceofscreenlocations.Tap
gentlybutfirmly.When youhavecompletedthe
seriesoftaps,press the [ENT] keytoconfirm it or
press the [ESC]keytocancelit.
Thisscreen willautomaticallyappearwhen the
unitispowered-onforthefirsttimeorafterthe
systemisreset. Thisscreen canalsobe ac-
cessed atanytimebypressingthehotkey
[FUNC] and the [ESC]key.
SettingTimeZone,Date,and Time
AfterCalibratingthe PA962,the :Date/TimeProp-
erties9dialog boxwill appear.Followthe steps
belowtoset thedateandtime.
Protective ScreenFilm
The PA962 screen shipswithaprotectiveplasticfilm. You mayremovethisif
desired bypeeling fromone corner. Thescreen willbe moresusceptibleto
scratching withoutthefilm,but will bemorereadable.
