GETTING STARTED
The Contour remote controlisintended to
besimpletoset-upandtouse.Justfollow
thetwostepsbelowandtheremotewillbe
readyforuse in justafewshortminutes.
STEP 1: INSTALL BATTERIES
Your Contour remote control requires 2
AAbatteries(included).
Battery Use And Safety
• Useonlyfreshbatteriesofthe
requiredsizeandrecommendedtype.
• Donotmix oldandnewbatteries,
differenttypesofbatteries(standard,
alkaline, or rechargeable), or
rechargeablebatteriesofdifferent
capacities.
• Ifyoudo notplantouse the remote
foranextendedperiod,remove the
battery.Itcan leakchemicals that can
destroy electronicparts.
WARNING: Disposeof old batteries
promptlyand properly. Donotburn or
burythem.
To Install Batteries:
1. Openthebatterycompartment
cover(locatedonthe backof
theremote).
2. PlacetheAAbatteriesin the
compartmentandmatchthe+and-
polaritysymbols inside.
3. Replacethecover.
NOTE: Whenthebatteryvoltageis low, the
TV orSTB keyblinks 5 timesaftera
keypress.
STEP 2: PROGRAM FOR TV
CONTROL
The Contour remote control is pre-
programmedtocontrolyourset-topbox
butitmustbemanuallyprogrammedin
ordertocontroltheTVpowerandvolume.
Followtheinstructions below to program
your remote for your TV.
1. TurnontheTV.
2. PresstheTV key on the remote.
3. PressandholdSETUP untiltheTV key
blinkstwice,thenrelease.
4. Enterthefirstfive-digitcodeforthe
TVbrandthatyouwishtoprogram.
TheLED blinks onceaseachdigitis
entered.Ifthe code is valid, the LED
blinks twice.
NOTE: Ifthe LED doesnotblinktwice,
repeatsteps2 to4andtry enteringthe
code again.
5. Aimthe remoteat theTV andpress
MUTE.TheTVvolumeshouldmute.
Ifitdoesnot,repeatsteps 3–5, trying
eachcode for yourbrand untilyou
findonethatworks.Ifyoucannot
findacodethatworks,see
“Searching for Your Code”.
SEARCHING FOR YOUR CODE
IfyourTV doesnotrespondto the remote
aftertryingallcodeslistedforyourbrand,
orifyourbrandisnotlisted,trysearching
foryour code:
1. Turn theTVon.
2. PresstheTV key once.
3. PressandholdSETUP untiltheTV key
blinkstwice,thenrelease.
4. Enter9 9 9 1.TheLEDblinkstwice.
5. Aimthe remoteat theTV andpress
MUTE. The remotesendsIR codes
fromitslibrarytothe TV, starting
withthemost popularcodefirst.If
theTVresponds,goto step7.
6. Ifthe TV does notrespond,press
CH+ andtheremote willtestthenext
TVcode.ContinuetopressChannel
Up untilthe TV turnsoff.
Note: Press CH- totry thepreviouscode.
7. Nowthatyouhavefoundthecorrect
code, pressSETUP tosavethecode
foryour TV.
CHANGING VOLUME LOCK
TheContourremotecontrolcomespreset
withvolumecontrols (Volume Up,Volume
Down,and MUTE)alllockedto yourTV.
Thissectiondescribes howtodisableand
enablevolumelock.
Locking Volume Control
1. Pressandhold SETUP until
eithertheTV orSTB keyblinks
twice.
2. Enter9 9 3, the LED blinkstwice.
3. Pressthemodekeyforthedeviceyou
wanttocontrol (forexample,TV).
4. TheLEDblinkstwice.Nowwhenyou
pressVOL+,VOL-,orMUTE,the
selecteddevice(forexample,TV)
controls the volume regardless of the
currentmode.
Unlocking All Volume Control
1. Pressandhold SETUP until
eithertheTV orSTB keyblinks
twice,then release.
2. Enter9 9 3, the LED blinkstwice.
3. PressVOL+. TheLEDblinksfour
times.Volumeis independently
controlled forallprogrammed
devices.
PROGRAMMING MACROS
Your Contour remote control includes the
ability toprogramtheA,B,C,andDkeys
withaMacrofunction.Eachonecan be
setupto performapre-programmedset
ofsequentialkeypresseswiththe pressof
onekey. A macrocanbeusedtocontrola
hometheateroperation,toset a favorite
channel, or for other multiple functions
you would like to control with one key
press.Moreover, eachMacro Key canhold
upto 15 keypressestotal.
Youcan programamacrothatoperates
regardless ofwhat mode you are in, or one
thatonlyoperateswhenyouareina
specificmode.
NOTE: Programminganewmacrooveran
existing one erases theoriginal macro.
Programming a Macro
1. Pressand hold SETUP until
eithertheTV orSTB keyblinks
twice,then release.
2. Press9 9 5. TheTV or STB key blinks
twice.
3. Pressthekeyyouwishtoassigna
macroon.
4. Entertheseriesofcommandsyou
wantthemacroto execute(upto15
commands).
5. PressandholdSETUP untileitherthe
TV orSTB keyblinks twice,then
release.
Now,whenyoupressthepresetmacrokey,
theremotesendsthe series ofcommands
youhave entered, regardless ofwhatmode
youarein.Forexample,youcould
programamacrokeytoturnonbothyour
TVandcableboxandselectaparticular
channel.
Toclearthemacro,repeatsteps1-5 above,
butdonotenteraseriesofcommandsat
step4.
TROUBLESHOOTING
PROBLEM: TV or STB key does not blink
whenyoupressakey.
SOLUTION: Try pressingdifferentkeys.
Replace the batterieswith2newAA
batteries.
PROBLEM: LEDblinkswhenyoupressa
key, but device doesnotrespond.
SOLUTION: Makesure the remote is aimed
atyourdeviceandis notmorethan40feet
away.
PROBLEM: LED blinksonelongblink
whileinSETUP mode.
SOLUTION: Anentryerrorhasoccurred
(forexample,wrongkey).Tryenteringthe
sequenceagain.
PROBLEM: Remote does not control
devicesor commandsarenotworking
properly.
SOLUTION: Tryall listedcodesforthe
device.Makesurethedeviceoperateswith
aninfraredremotecontrol.
PROBLEM: No volume on a device.
SOLUTION: See “ChangingVolumeLock”
andmakesurethevolumeisnot lockedto
adifferentmodealready.
