Prior to installation the Heat Collector must be
attached to the rear of the blower assembly, as shown
below, using the supplied #8 screws and a 1/4” nut

Note - The termination must be located within the same chase as the replace and can’t be attached
to ducting/venting or installed in a separate bulkhead.

3. Fasten the exterior thimble, using standard wood
screws to the framed opening. Making note to install
the thimble with the thicker border at the bottom.
Refer to Figure 5B. Wall cladding can now be applied
on top of the thimble while leaving only the opening
for the blower termination installation.

1. Determine the location of the termination as
directed on the previous page. NOTE: The Urbana
Comfort Kit allows for a minimum wall thickness of
8” (203mm) and amaximum wall thickness of 12”
(305mm). For walls thinner than 8” the framing
thimble will need to be properly blocked and secured,
and the blower assembly will either need to sit proud
of the exterior facing or sink further into the chase
2. Cut and frame an opening that is 19” (483mm) tall
by 14 5/8” (371mm) wide for the exterior thimble as
shown in Figure 5A.
4. Repeat step 2 for the interior timble using the same
dimensions.
5. Repeat step 3 by sliding the interior thimble,
identied with a “2” on the face, around the sleeve of
the exterior thimble. The interior thimble does NOT
have a notch at the top, again ensure the thicker
border is at the bottom.
NOTE: Ensure the two framed openings are the same
height from the ground as thimble alignment will be
greatly impacted.
6. Determine the depth that the blower termination
will sit within the wall. For wall thicknesses greater
than 9”, the termination will mount ush with the
nishing face. For walls thinner than 9”, the power
termination will be required to protrude from the
nishing face.

8. A 115VAC power cable (not supplied) will need to be
routed to the rear of the termination:
A) Feed the cable through the strain relief on the
back of the termination. Roughly 3-6” cable is
recommended to be feed into the termination.
B) Tighten the two (2) screws on the strain relief
to clamp down and secure the cable within the
termination.
9. Install the termination into the exterior thimble and
fasten in place using eight (8) standard wood screws.
See Figure 6 for reference.
NOTE: Be sure to pull any cable slack back through
the thimble so it does not bind.
10. Seal the perimeter of the termination between
the main body and the nishing face with silicone or
caulking. Refer to Figure 7 for exact locations.

11. The exterior wall nishing material can now be
installed around the termination. The nishing material
can butt up against the perimeter of the nishing face
but the thickness cannot exceed 1” (25.4mm). Refer to
Figure 8.

7. Upon completion of Step 6, mount the nishing face
to the termination using eight (8) self-tapping screws.
Three (3) screws for each side and two (2) screws for
the bottom tab. Seal the screw heads with silicone.
IMPORTANT: Ensure the nishing face is mounted
square to the front of the termination

terminAtion Wiring:
The replace must be electrically connected and grounded in accordance with local codes or, in the absence of local
codes, with the current CSA C22.1 Canadian Electrical Code Part 1, Safety Standards For Electrical Installations,
or The National Electrical Code ANSI / NFPA 70 in the US.
CAUTION: When servicing controls, label all wires prior to disconnection. Wiring errors can cause improper and
dangerous operation. Verify proper operation after servicing.
If any of the original wire supplied with the appliance must be replaced, it must be replaced with 18 AWG wire
with a temperature rating of 105°C.

Reinstall the front cover to complete the termination installation.
User Control - Wiring:
The Chase Comfort kit may be wired in two different ways depending on user preference (refer to Figure 9
above):
Wall Switch / Rheostat - The Chase Comfort kit may be wired directly to a wall switch for simple on/off
control, or to a rheostat for variable speed control. If using a rheostat, the voltage range must be set to NOT
drop below 80VAC.
Remote Control - The Chase Comfort kit may be wired to the replace via the unused comfort fan circuit
(X10) on the IFC. This will allow for on/off and 6 speed level control via the fan icon on the replace’s remote
control. Refer to the replace’s installation manual for further details on accessing the IFC.
Note - The fan icon will need to be activated on the remote in order to control the kit. See the section at the
end of the manual.

Wiring - Termination
1. Remove the termination’s front cover by removing the four (4) screws using a 1/4” nut driver. See Figures 10
& 11.
2. To wire the blower motor, use the supplied wire nuts to connect the two loose blower motor leads to the
incoming power that was routed through the rear strain relief.

NOTE: The Urbana Comfort Kit is equipped with a sealing one way ow door. the unit will ow air out of the
chase when activated and will prevent outside air from owing in when deactivated. An external one way duct
ap is NOT required with this kit

1. With no batteries inserted into the battery holder,
keep pressed Power On/Off and O buttons.
2. Insert batteries keeping pressed the two buttons.
The following screen is displayed. Each icon can be:
a. Set: the icon is set.
b. Clr: the icon is unset.
3. Keeping pressed the Power On/Off button, pressing
the O button each icon can be selected.
4. Keeping pressed the Power On/Off button and
pressing the O button, navigate to the fan blade. This
is in Clr state.
5. Keeping pressed the Power On/Off button, press
the Up button to set the icon.
6. Release the Power On/Off button. The functionality
is now enabled. The Fan Control is now ready to be
used.
