I.Summary
Withrapiddevelopmentofcomputerindustry,USBistakingtheplaceof
variouskindsoftraditionallowspeedperipheralinterfaces.However,RS-232
interfacedesignsarestillusedinmanyoftheimportantfacilitiesunder
currentindustrialenvironment,therefore,converterisusedbymanyusersto
implementthedatatransmissionfromUSBofacomputertoRS-232
equipments.
UT-860isauniversalUSB/RS-232interfaceconverter.Noexternalpower
supplyneeded.CompatiblewithUSBandRS-232standards,UT-860is
capabletoperformtheconversionfromsingle-endedUSBsignalinto UART
signalofRS-232.DB9maleconnectorsareusedforconnectionfromRS-232
interface.TheuniqueI/Ocircuitoftheinternalzerodelayautotransceiver
containedintheconvertercontrolsthedatastreamdirectionautomatically.
Theconverterisplug-and-play.Allthesefeaturesensureauniversal
applicationonalltheexistingcommunicationsoftwareandhardware
interfaces.
Thedatacommunicationratecanbeashighas300-921.6Kbpsbythepoint-to-
pointcommunicationbyUT-860interface.Powerindicatorlightanddata
trafficindicatorlightarealsoavailablewiththeconverterformalfunction
indication.ConversionfromUSBtoRS-232issupported.

OnceaUT-860converterisconnectedwiththeUSBport,thefollowing
windowwillpopup.SelectInstallfromalistorspecificlocation(Advanced),,
thenclickNexttocontinue.
Thenawindowpopsuptochoosesearchandinstallationoptionsasthe
following,pleaseselectDon'tsearch.Iwillchoosethedrivertoinstall.,and
thenclickNexttocontinue.

ThenawindowpopsupforHardwareTypelisting,pullthescrollbartoselect
UniversalSerialBusControllersandclickNexttocontinue.
InthefollowingSelectthedevicedriveryouwanttoinstallforthishardware,
clickHaveDisktocontinue.

IntheLocateFilewindow,selectCDpath,thenchoosethedirectoryDriver
andclickthebuttonOpenordoubleclicktoopen.
IntheInstallFromDiskwindow,clickBrowsetoselectthepathofthedevice
driver.

Selecttheapplicableoperationsystem,e.g.selectanddoubleclicktoopen
WINXP.2003.2000forWindowsXP.
Selectthedrivermodelasthefollowing,thenclickthedirectoryUT-860to
open,selectPCDriverdirectory.

InthefollowingInstallFromDiskwindow,justclickOK.
SelectthefileFTDIBUS.INF,thenclickOpen.
