Thank you for purchasing the VTech®Animal Alphabet Train™!
Toot, Toot! Hop aboard the animal express! Learn and discover with
this push-along animal train. With 14 double-sided plastic animal cards
and 3 different modes of play your child will learn numbers, letters and
all about the animals. Watch the smokestack light up with the responses
as you play!

WARNING: All packing materials such as tape, plastic sheets,
wire ties and tags are not part of this toy, and
should be discarded for your child’s safety.
GETTING STARTED
BATTERY INSTALLATION
1. Make sure the unit is OFF.
2. Locate the battery cover on the
bottom of the unit. Use a screwdriver
or coin to open the battery cover.
3. Install 2 new “AA” (UM-3/LR6)
batteries into the compartment as
illustrated. (The use of new, alkaline
batteries is recommended for
maximum performance.)
4. Replace the battery cover and tighten the screw to secure.
BATTERY NOTICE
• Non-rechargeable batteries are not to be recharged.
• Rechargeable batteries are to be removed from the toy before
being charged (if removable).
• Rechargeable batteries are only to be charged under adult
supervision (if removable).
• Different types of batteries or new and used batteries are not to
be mixed.
• Only batteries of the same or equivalent type as recommended
are to be used.
• Batteries are to be inserted with the correct polarity.
• Exhausted batteries are to be removed from the toy.
• The supply terminals are not to be short-circuited.

• The toy is not to be connected to more than the recommended
number of power supplies.
• Do not dispose of batteries in fire.
WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THE USE OF RECHARGEABLE
BATTERIES.
NOTE: The demo tag should be removed automatically when
the product is taken out of the packaging. If the demo
tag is still in position when you begin play, please remove
it from the bottom of the unit to activate normal play mode.

1. ON/OFF/VOLUME CONTROL SWITCH
Slide the ON/OFF/VOLUME CONTROL
SWITCH to the HIGH or LOW volume
position to turn the unit ON. To turn the
unit OFF slide the ON/OFF/VOLUME
CONTROL SWITCH to the OFF position.
2. MODE BUTTONS
Press the MODE BUTTONS to select a
mode of play.
3. CARD SLOT
Insert a card into the slot to hear
responses.

4. CARD STORAGE COMPARTMENT
Store the cards in the handy storage
compartment.
AUTOMATIC SHUT-OFF
To preserve battery life, the VTech®Animal Alphabet Train™ will
automatically power-down after several minutes without input. The
unit can be turned on again by inserting a card or pressing a mode
button.
ACTIVITIES
MODE 1: LETTERS & NUMBERS
1. Press the LETTERS & NUMBERS button to enter this mode.
2. Insert an animal card to hear either the letter identified or the letter
identified with the animal name.
3. Insert the number card for counting fun!
MODE 2: ANIMAL FACTS
1. Press the ANIMAL FACTS button to enter this mode.
2. Insert an animal card to hear facts related to the animal on the
card. You will learn animal characteristics, habitat, the name of
their young, the food they eat and the sounds they make.
3. Insert the number card to hear a number identified followed by a
fun animal sound.

MODE 3: QUIZ
1. Press the QUIZ button to enter this mode.
2. You will be asked to find a certain animal. For example, you will
hear “Which animal begins with the letter Z?”
3. If a correct animal card is inserted, you will be rewarded with a
positive response.
4. If an incorrect animal card is inserted, you will be given some hints
to help you find the answer.
5. If you answer incorrectly three times, the correct answer will be
given then a new question will be asked.
6. Insert the number card to hear cheerful melodies!

Care & Maintenance/Troubleshooting
CARE & MAINTENANCE
1. Keep the unit clean by wiping it with a slightly damp cloth.
2. Keep the unit out of direct sunlight and away from any direct heat
source.
3. Remove the batteries when the unit is not in use for an extended
period of time.
4. Do not drop the unit onto a hard surface and do not expose the
unit to moisture or water.
TROUBLESHOOTING
If for some reason the program/activity stops working or malfunctions,
please follow these steps:
1. Please turn the unit OFF.
2. Interrupt the power supply by removing the batteries.
3. Let the unit stand for a few minutes, then replace the batteries.
4. Turn the unit ON. The unit will now be ready to play again.
5. If the unit still does not work, replace with a new set of batteries.

1. The product detailed above is covered by a one year warranty from the
date of purchase, against any defects in materials or workmanship.
2. The product may be returned to the place of purchase. Alternatively the
product can be returned to VTech Electronics Europe plc (see address
below), with proof of purchase, without proof of purchase no replacement
will be provided.
3. VTech Electronics Europe plc will examine the product and if it is found to
be defective due to faulty materials or workmanship, will replace the product
at their discretion.
4. If the product covered by this warranty is damaged due to misuse, modification
or unauthorised repair, or because of faulty batteries, battery discharge or
incorrect electrical connections, then this warranty becomes void.
5. This warranty is personal to the original purchaser and is not transferable.
6.Breakages to the LCD screen are not covered by the warranty.
7. Returns to VTech Electronics Europe plc should include a cheque or postal
order for £1.50 towards the cost of return postage and packaging.
8. Products returned to VTech Electronics Europe plc, should be addressed
as follows and packed carefully to avoid damage in transit (Please do not
include batteries or adaptor).
