Thank you for purchasing the VTech’s GadgetTM!
GadgetTM is the perfect learning friend for your child! With his quirky
personality, rockin’ dance moves and funny responses, your child
will love playing and interacting with him as they learn about letters,
words, counting and more! This little guy comes with 30 learning chips
that trigger fun animations on his LCD screen when they are inserted
in the slot above his nose. GadgetTM also has a sound sensor. Just
clap your hands and watch him do some robot dancing. With 6 modes
of play, your child will have fun for hours as they hang out with their
new robot pal.

WARNING: All packing materials, such as tape, plastic sheets,
packaging locks and tags are not part of this toy, and
should be discarded for your child’s safety.
DEMO STRIP REMOVAL:
When the product is taken out of the packaging, please remove the
demo cable from the unit to activate normal play mode.
NOTE: Please keep instruction manual as it contains important
information.

Rotate the packaging locks 90
degrees anit-clockwise.
Pull out the packaging locks.

BATTERY INSTALLATION
1. Make sure the unit is turned OFF.
2. Locate the battery cover on the bottom
of the unit.
3. Install 4 new “AA” size (LR6/AM-3)
batteries following the diagram inside
the battery box. (The use of new
alkaline batteries is recommended for
maximum performance.)
4. Replace the battery cover.

• Rechargeable batteries are only to be charged under adult
supervision.
DO NOT USE RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES.
Disposal of batteries and product
The crossed-out wheelie bin symbols on products and
batteries, or on their respective packaging, indicates they
must not be disposed of in domestic waste as they contain
substances that can be damaging to the environment and
human health.
The chemical symbols Hg, Cd or Pb, where marked, indicate
that the battery contains more than the specied value of
mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd) or lead (Pb) set out in Battery
Directive (2006/66/EC).
The solid bar indicates that the product was placed on the market after
13th August, 2005.
Help protect the environment by disposing of your product or batteries
responsibly.

1. ON/OFF BUTTON
Press the On/Off Button to wake up
GadgetTM. Press again to put GadgetTM
to sleep.
2. MODE SELECTOR
Slide the Mode Selector to choose an
activity.
3. 30 CHIPS
Insert any of the 26 Letter Chips or
4 Special Chips to get a response or
answer a question (in related modes).
4. ‘Drop & Twist’ Nose Slot
a. Put a chip into the Nose Slot.

b. Turn the Nose and then release
it. The chip will fall down inside
GadgetTM.
c. GadgetTM will analyse the chip and
give a response.
5. MOVEABLE EARS & EYES
Turn his Ears or Eyes at any time
and GadgetTM will respond with funny
phrases.
6. SOUND DETECTOR
Clap your hands and watch GadgetTM do
his robot dance moves!

7. SECRET DOOR
After 3-5 chips have been inserted into
GadgetTM, he will automatically open his
secret door and release the chips.
NOTE: The door is intended as a
surprise feature, and will open at random
intervals during game play.
8. STORAGE BACKPACK
Use the Backpack as a storage space
for the 30 chips.
9. VOLUME SWITCH
Move the Volume Switch to adjust the
volume.
10. AUTOMATIC SHUT-OFF
To preserve battery life, VTech’sGadgetTM will automatically turn off
after several minutes without input. The unit can be turned on again
by pressing the On/Off Button.

Explore It
Explore and learn with GadgetTM! Put in any of the letter chips to learn
about letters and words, put in any of the 4 special chips to watch
GadgetTM sing, play, exercise, or say foreign language phrases. You
can also twist his ears, nose and eyes for funny responses!
Charge Me Up
GadgetTM is hungry! Listen for how many chips he would like to eat
and then feed him the correct amount. He will count out the chips as
you feed them to him until you have reached the correct number.
Super Speller
GadgetTM is a super speller. Feed him any of the 26 letter chips and
he will say the word for you. Then twist his ear to hear GadgetTM spell
theword.Keeptwistinghisearuntilhenishesspellingtheword,and
then insert another chip for a new word.
Follow Along
Follow along as fast as you can! Listen carefully as GadgetTM gives
instructions, and then turn the relevant body parts in the correct order.
Robot Rock
GadgetTM loves to dance. In this mode, listen for GadgetTM to give
instructions, then clap your hands to make him dance!
Gadget’s Quiz
Listen closely. GadgetTM will ask you a question and you need to
answer it. In this mode, you can either insert the correct letter chip to
answer the question, or twist his ear until the correct answer appears
on his screen, and then turn his nose to choose it.
