to high standards and is easy to use. Nevertheless, please take the time to
read these operating instructions in order to familiarize yourself with the
appliance and get the best use out of it.
Please follow the safety precautions.

Safety precautions
In accordance with the requirements of IEC 60335-1:
䡲This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with
reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and
knowledge, unless supervised or unless they have been given instruction
concerning the use of the appliance by a person responsible for their
safety.
Before using for the first time
䡲The appliance must be installed and connected to the electricity supply in
accordance with the separate installation instructions. The necessary work
should be carried out by a qualified fitter or electrician.
䡲Dispose of the packaging material in accordance with local regulations.
䡲Change the user settings to suit your own needs.
The appliance corresponds to recognised technology standards
and the relevant safety regulations. Proper use of the appliance is
however essential to avoid damage and accidents. Please there-
fore follow the precautions given in these operating instructions.

Correct use
䡲The appliance is for collecting the costs of operating a washing machine
or tumble dryer. No liability is assumed for any damage caused by
improper or incorrect use.
䡲Any repairs, modifications or manipulations to the appliance, especially
any electrically live parts, may only be carried out by the manufacturer, its
Customer Services or similarly qualified persons. Repairs if carried out
incorrectly may cause serious injury, damage to the appliance and fittings,
as well as affect the functioning of the appliance. If the appliance is not
working properly or in case of a repair order, follow the instructions given
in the 'Repair service' section. If necessary, please contact Customer
Services.
䡲Retain these operating instructions for future reference. If you sell the
appliance or pass it on to a third party, please ensure these operating
instructions accompany the appliance. In this way, the new owner can
inform themselves about how to use the appliance correctly and read the
pertinent safety precautions.
Children in the home
䡲Packaging material (e.g. plastic, polystyrene) can be dangerous for chil-
dren. Danger of suffocation! Keep packaging material away from children.
䡲The appliance is designed for use by adults who are familiar with these
operating instructions. Children are often unable to recognise the danger
of electrical appliances. Ensure their proper supervision and do not allow
children to play with the appliance.
Note on use
䡲If the appliance is visibly damaged, do not use it. Contact our Customer
Services.
䡲Do not spray the appliance with water. Do not use a steam cleaner.

Your appliance
Appliance description
The cashier system controls the power supply to the appliance connected
based on the amount charged from the user card. Measured and charged is
the length of time that electricity is used.
Balances remaining that are not credited back are stored in the appliance.
Balances remaining can be credited back at any time. Up to 60 balances re-
maining from different user cards can be stored. Any balance remaining will
be credited back the next time the same user card is used.
For short parts of a programme such as spinning, rinsing, draining, etc. just
insert the user card and select the relevant appliance for the cashier system
to activate the power supply. Parts of programmes will normally be charged
at 10 rappen.
– A stationary indicates that no electricity is being used.
– Moving indicate that electricity is being used and will be charged
against the credited amount.
The appliance does not always charge the same amount for the same
wash or drying programme as the length of time that electricity is used
depends on various factors (load, amount and temperature of water,
voltage, etc.).

User card
䡲The user card stores individual credit and can be
loaded as often as required. It activates the power
supply to the washing machine and tumble dryer.
Special cards
The cards described below are for use by those with responsibility for the
appliance (property manager, owner, caretaker).
Load card
The load card has 4 functions:
䡲loading the user cards
䡲setting the tariff
䡲setting the amount loaded
䡲setting the language.
The first time a new load card is inserted into the cashier system it is
encoded and can then only be used with this particular appliance. To
be able to use the load system for several cashier systems, please
contact our Customer Services.

Totaliser card
The totaliser card has 2 functions:
䡲reading the totaliser
䡲setting the totaliser to zero.
Programming card
ACustomer- and appliance-specific parameters can
be automatically transferred using the programming
card.
The programming card can be ordered from our Customer Services
for a charge.

Cleaning card
䡲Using the cleaning card extends the life of the card
reader and minimizes malfunctions.
Using the cards
The user and special cards are basically used in the same way.
Inserting a card
AInsert the card into the card reader until it clicks into
place.
Unlocking and removing the card
ABriefly push the card into the card
reader until it can go no further.
– The card automatically springs out
approximately 2 cm.
ANow remove the card.
The cleaning card can be ordered from our Customer Services for a
charge.
Do not pull the card out of the card reader with force!
This will damage the card reader and the card.

Using the user card
If the balance remaining is not credited back, it is saved and credited the next
time that the same user card is debited.
Use with model 247
AInsert the user card into the card reader.
– The current credit, e.g. , is shown in the plain
text display.
– The charge amount is deducted from the user card and the power
supply is activated.
– appears in the plain text display.
Use with model 248
AInsert the user card into the card reader.
– The current credit, e.g. , is shown in the plain
text display.
– After about 3 seconds appears in the plain
text display.
APress the or key to select the desired appliance.
– The charge amount is deducted from the user card and the power

ATo return credit, hold the key depressed and at the same time

Loading

Settings
The procedure described below is explained on the basis of model 248.
AHold the key depressed.
AInsert the load card into the card reader.
– appears in the plain text display.
ARelease the key.
– appears in the plain text display.
ATo change the tariff, press the or key.
– The plain text display changes after about 5 seconds.
– The setting is saved.
The other settings (amount loaded and language) can be changed in exactly
the same way.
ATo exit settings, unlock the load card.
Using the totaliser card
The procedure described below is explained on the basis of model 248.
AInsert the totaliser card into the card reader.
– appears in the plain text display.
– After about 5 seconds appears in the plain
text display.
ATo delete, press the key.
– appears in the plain text display.
AUnlock the totaliser card from the card reader.
If the total loaded is not to be deleted, unload the totaliser card without
pressing the key.

Calculation
The charges to be defined for the appliance are based on the operating costs
of the washing machine or tumble dryer connected.
The operating costs comprise the costs of the electricity and water consumed
as well as of any service agreement.
Example calculation for a washing machine with a 6 kg load capacity
Basis: Main programme Coloureds 60 °C without a pre-wash
In the absence of individual components of the calculation, we recommend a
charge of CHF 0.90 per hour for washing and CHF 1.20 per hour for drying.
The values indicated below are average values. These can (depend-
ing on local electricity and water tariffs as well as service agreement
costs) vary widely.

Settings
The different parameters are explained below. The factory setting is intended
for the operation of a washing machine in the case of model 247 and a wash-
ing machine and a tumble dryer in the case of model 248. In order
to change this, a programming card with the corresponding parameter must
be requested from Customer Services.
