read these operating instructions in order to familiarize yourself with the ap-
pliance and get the best use out of it.
Please follow the safety precautions.

Safety precautions
In accordance with the requirements of IEC 60335-1:
䡲This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with
reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and
knowledge, unless supervised or unless they have been given instruction
concerning the use of the appliance by a person responsible for their
safety.
Before using for the first time
䡲The appliance must be installed and connected to the electricity supply in
accordance with the separate installation instructions. The necessary work
should be carried out by a qualified fitter or electrician.
䡲Dispose of the packaging material in accordance with local regulations.
䡲Ensure access to the place of disconnection (e.g. socket outlet, wall switch,
mains fuse) and the water tap.
䡲The transport lock must be removed. Failure to remove the transport lock
can result in damage to the appliance or apartment or laundry room
fittings.
䡲Before using the newly installed appliance for the first time, please follow
the precautions given in the 'Using for the first time' section.
The appliance corresponds to recognised technology standards
and the relevant safety regulations. Proper use of the appliance is
however essential to avoid damage and accidents. Please therefore
follow the precautions given in these operating instructions.

Correct use
䡲The appliance is suitable for washing home textiles with water and regular
washing machine detergent. The appliance is designed for use in the home
and for the above-mentioned purpose only. No liability is assumed for any
damage caused by improper or incorrect use.
䡲Any repairs, modifications or manipulations to the appliance, especially
any electrically live parts, should only be carried out by the manufacturer,
its Customer Services or similarly qualified persons. Repairs if carried out
incorrectly may cause serious injury, damage to the appliance and fittings,
as well as affect the functioning of the appliance. If the appliance is not
working properly or in case of a repair order, follow the instructions given
in the 'Repair service' section. If necessary, please contact Customer
Services.
䡲Use original spare parts only.
䡲Retain these operating instructions for future reference. If you sell or pass
the appliance on to a third party, please ensure these operating instruc-
tions accompany the appliance, together with the instructions on installa-
tion. In this way, the new owner can inform themselves about how to use
the appliance correctly and read the pertinent safety precautions.
Do not use the appliance to wash the following:
䡲Textiles that have been cleaned, treated or soaked with flammable chemi-
cals, detergents or solvents such as benzene, alcohol, stain remover, oil,
paint, wax, etc. Fire or explosion hazard! Wash materials containing such
substances first by hand with water or allow the solvent to evaporate
completely.
䡲Textiles with metal reinforcements (risk of damage).
䡲Trainers, diving suits, rucksacks, carpets, etc.

Children in the home
䡲Packaging material (e.g. plastic, polystyrene) can be dangerous for chil-
dren. Danger of suffocation! Keep packaging material away from children.
䡲The appliance is designed for use by adults who are familiar with these op-
erating instructions. Children are often unable to recognise the danger of
electrical appliances. Ensure proper supervision and do not allow children
to play with the appliance – there is a danger that children could get locked
inside.
䡲Washing detergent can irritate the eyes, mouth and throat and even cause
choking! Keep washing detergent out of the reach of children.
䡲Use the childproof locking facility.
Note on use
䡲If the drain hose leads into a sink (wash trough), check that it is fastened
securely. Make sure that the water can drain off fast enough. Flooding
hazard!
䡲From time to time, check the drain hose for tears, kinks, twists, bends, etc.
䡲Do not use the appliance if visibly damaged or if the inlet pipes are dam-
aged. Contact Customer Services.
䡲If the appliance is not operating properly, disconnect it from the electricity
supply immediately.
䡲Keep pets away from the appliance.
䡲To protect your washing, follow the fabric care symbols and the hints and
advice in the 'Washing tips' section'.
䡲Do not use solvents (e.g. turpentine, benzene) instead of, or in addition to,
water, washing detergent or additives in your appliance. Fire or explosion
hazard!
Do not use the pivoting operating panel to lift or move the
appliance.

䡲Only use water softener, dye / bleach or other additives expressly recom-
mended by the manufacturer for use in the appliance. Follow the manufac-
turer’s instructions carefully.
䡲Store washing detergents, washing additives and other additives in a cool,
dry place. Lumpy washing detergent can cause problems. Keep all wash-
ing deter-gents and additives out of the reach of children.
䡲Before closing the appliance door and starting a programme, ensure that
there are no foreign objects or pets in the washing drum, detergent dis-
penser drawer or around the foreign body trap. Foreign objects such as
coins, nails, paper clips, etc. can damage parts of the appliance, as well
as the washing.
䡲During longer periods of absence, turn off the water tap before switching
off the power by pulling out the mains plug. Never pull the mains plug out
by the cable. Please note: the built-in overflow protection is rendered inac-
tive when the power is switched off.
Maintenance
䡲Disconnect the appliance from the mains before carrying out maintenance
work.
䡲Do not spray the outside of the appliance with water. Do not use a steam
cleaner.
䡲Do not sit, lean or rest on the appliance door.
䡲Do not climb on to the appliance. Danger of tipping!
䡲Opening the water inlet and outlet while the appliance is in operation could
pose a scalding hazard.
䡲Use original spare parts only.
Ensure the washing drum has stopped moving before reaching in-
side. Do not touch the drum while it is still in motion – risk of seri-
ous injury!

Plain text display
Various information appears in the plain text display during the programme
selection and the programme sequence.
Communications interface
The service technician can conduct a trouble-shooting analysis over this op-
tical interface.
Indicator lights
The buttons for the main programmes and certain additional programmes are
equipped with an indicator light.

Using for the first time
Before using the newly installed appliance for the first time, the following work
should be carried out.
Transport lock
Setting the language, time and date
ASet the language, time and date in the user settings.
AHold the button depressed until the
following appears in the plain text
display:
APress the button repeatedly until «Language» or «Time and date»
«set?» appear in the plain text display.
AUse the button to make the desired settings.
Running the first wash cycle without any washing
ARun an empty wash cycle to remove any residues from the manufacturing
process.
AAdd a little washing detergent to compartment II.
ASelect the main programme .
The appliance was tested with water before being shipped. There may
therefore still be traces of water left in the appliance.
Before using the appliance for the first time, the transport lock
must be removed (3 screws with washers at the back of the
appliance).
To ensure the user settings are saved, the power supply to the appli-
ance should not be switched off for at least 30 minutes.

Main programmes
To select the right wash programme, follow the fabric care symbols
on the labels of the wash items, e.g. .

Whites 95 °C
White cottons, linens:
e.g. bed and table linen, towels, white or colour-fast
underwear.
Coloureds 60 °C Coloured cottons:
e.g. bright blouses, overalls, shirts, bed linen.
Coloureds 40 °C Coloured cottons (non-fast):
e.g. heavily soiled sportswear, blue jeans.
Woollens 30 °C Gentle wash for woollens and other delicates. Only for woollens
with a felt-free finish and labelled as «machine washable».
Hand wash 20 °C Very gentle wash for items labelled with the fabric
care symbol.
WetClean 20 °C
For all fabrics labelled as washable. Most gentle treatment
possible through applying a gentle rocking motion and a fine
spray of water.
Favourites 5 programmes that can be freely put together and saved

Steam
anti-crease 1×
Dry, creased washing that can be washed at min. 40 °C is
partially uncreased and made damp, ready to iron.
Proofing 2×
For starching or proofing fabrics. The starching or proofing
agent can be added to the fabric conditioner compartment .
Appliance
hygiene 3×
Without any washing. A small amount of water is heated up to
around 80 °C and the steam produced sharply reduces the
germ count.

very cold water feed, the degree of soiling selected or a smaller wash load.

Steam anti-crease
Night economy programme
The steam finish at the end of the programme significantly reduces
creasing in the washing. Recommended for items that crease easily,
e.g. shirts and blouses.
䡲The washing is warm and should be hung up immediately to dry –
for easy ironing – or tumble dried.
䡲To avoid renewed creasing at the end of the programme, the wash-
ing is loosened up for an extended period (about 60 minutes). The
washing can be unloaded at any time.
