Do’s
This vacuum cleaner is intended for household use only and NOT for
commercial or industrial use.
READ ALL THE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING THIS APPLIANCE
• Only use the vacuum cleaner indoors and keep the area you’re cleaning well lit.
• Keep ngers, hair and loose clothing from moving parts and openings whilst
using the vacuum cleaner.
• This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with
reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and
knowledge unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning
use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
Children should not play with the vacuum cleaner. Cleaning and user
maintenance should not be made by children without supervision
• Only Vax recommend tools and accessories should be used with this
vacuum cleaner
• Vax recommends the use of a Residual Current Device rating of 30 mA or less.
• If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, or similarly
qualied person in order to avoid a hazard, or invalidating the warranty.
• IMPORTANT: The motor is equipped with a thermal cut-out. If for any reason the unit
should overheat, the thermostat will automatically turn the unit o. Should this occur,
unplug the vacuum cleaner from the electrical outlet and turn o the switch. Remove dirt
container and empty. Clean lters. Allow the unit to cool for approximately one (1) hour.
To re-start, plug into an electrical outlet and switch back on.
• Do not use charger with damaged cord or plug. If appliance or charger is not working
as it should, has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors or dropped into water, take it
to a Vax authorised repair agent prior to continuing use. Please contact our Customer

• Cleaning and maintenance shall not be made by children.
• Do not use this vacuum cleaner if it has been dropped, damaged,
left outdoors or dropped into water.
Do not use this vacuum cleaner with a damaged cord or plug.
• Do not pull or carry this appliance by the cord. Do not use the cord as a
handle, close a door on the cord or pull the cord around sharp edges or
corners. Do not run the vacuum cleaner over the cord. Keep the cord away
from heated surfaces.
• Do not handle the plug or the vacuum cleaner with wet hands.
• Do not pick up any hot coals, ash, cigarette butts, matches or any hot,
smoking or burning objects.
• Do not pick up any ammable or combustible materials (lighter uid, petrol, kerosene etc.)
or use in the presence of explosive liquids or vapours.
• Do not vacuum harmful or toxic material (chlorine, bleach, ammonia, drain cleaner etc.).
• Do not vacuum hard or sharp objects such as glass, nails, screws, coins etc.
• Do not vacuum plaster dust, concrete dust or any other building or vitreous materials.
• Do not vacuum baking soda or any other powder-based carpet refresher or deodoriser.
• Do not put any objects into openings. Do not use with any openings blocked and do not
restrict airow.
Keep all openings free of dust, lint, hair or anything that might reduce airow.
• Do not use the vacuum cleaner with blocked lters and without all of the lters in place.
• Only use the vacuum cleaner indoors on dry surfaces.
• Turn o the on/o switch on the vacuum cleaner controls before
disconnecting or connecting from the mains supply.

• Always unplug the vacuum cleaner before connecting or disconnecting
the vacuum hose and accessories.
• Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the
appliance.
• The appliance should only be used as described in the quick start guide

• Only Vax recommended attachments should be used with this appliance.
• Keep hair, loose clothing, ngers and all parts of the body away from openings
and moving parts.
• Store the vacuum cleaner in a cool, dry area.
• Use only SAA approved extension cords. Care should be taken to arrange the cord
so that the cord cannot be tripped over.
• Take extra care when positioning the vacuum cleaner on the stairs.
• Keep vacuuming area well lit.

CAUTION: Always switch o the vacuum cleaner before connecting or disconnecting the hose/attachments,
or removing and emptying the dirt container.
IMPORTANT: The condition of the lters aects the performance of your machine. Please check, clean and replace
lters periodically (depending on the level of use). For full cleaning instructions, see “Cleaning the pre-motor lter”
and “Cleaning the post-motor lter”.

WARNING: Always switch o and unplug the vacuum cleaner from the electrical socket before assembling,
opening or emptying the dirt container, or before connecting/disconnecting the attachments.
IMPORTANT: The motor is equipped with a thermal cut-out. If for any reason the unit should overheat, the
thermostat will automatically turn the unit o.
NOTE: Empty the dirt container when the MAX mark is reached.
IMPORTANT: Filters need to be cleaned every time you empty the dirt container for best cleaning results.
Do not use your vacuum cleaner with blocked lters and without ALL the lters in place.
Emptying and cleaning the dirt container

button to open, allowing dirt
to fall out.

Storage
Cable rewind button is
located at the rear of the
machine. After unplugging
press the cable rewind until
the cord is fully retracted.
For convenience there is a parking slot located at the rear
of the vacuum cleaner where the oor head and tubes
can be attached for storage and carrying.

Cleaning the pre-motor lter
NOTE: Check lters
for cleanliness every
time you empty the
dirt container. Clean
where necessary.
Replace lters when
discoloured and/or
damaged (frequency
will depend on level
of use).
Tap excess dirt from the lter. Rinse under a tap and leave to dry at least for 24 hours
before replacing in vacuum cleaner.

Remove the inner separator
from the container.
Remove the cap from the inner

Dislodge any excess dirt
by gently tapping the inner
separator upside down
above a bin.

• The dirt container may be incorrectly installed; remove the dirt container
from the unit by pressing the dirt container release catch and then re-
attaching it to the unit, ensuring it is locked rmly back into place.
• The lter may be clogged; refer to ‘Taking care of your machine’.
• The dirt container may be blocked; refer to ‘Taking care of your
machine – Cleaning the shroud’.

• The dirt container may be incorrectly installed; remove the dirt container
from the unit by pressing the dirt container release catch and then
re-attaching it to the unit, ensuring it is locked rmly back into place.

• Hose blockages: remove the hose from the unit. Carefully remove any
blockages found and reconnect hose securely.
• Accessory blockages: remove accessory from handle/tube. Carefully
remove blockage and re-attach to the vacuum cleaner.
• The accessory may be faulty. Simply call us on AUS: 1300 361 505 /
NZ: 0800 800 900 for assistance.
• It may not be plugged into the electrical outlet correctly; ensure that
the plug is pushed in securely.
• The electrical outlet may not be working properly; check the fuse
or breaker, or consult an electrician.
• The motor thermostat may have tripped; switch o and unplug the
vacuum cleaner, and leave for one hour before switching the cleaner
back on.
