When us ng the carpet washer, bas c safety precaut ons should always be
observed, nclud ng the follow ng:
1. Do not leave the carpet washer unattended when plugged n.
Unplug t from socket when not n use.
2. To prevent electr c shock do not use outdoors.
3. Not to be used as a toy. Ch ldren should be superv sed to ensure
that they do not play w th the appl ance.
4. Th s appl ance s not ntended for use by persons ( nclud ng
ch ldren) w th reduced phys cal, sensory or mental capab l t es, or
lack of exper ence and knowledge, unless they have been g ven
superv s on or nstruct on concern ng the use of the appl ance by a
person respons ble for the r safety.
5. Use only as descr bed n th s manual.
6. Do not use the carpet washer f t has been dropped, damaged,
left outdoors or dropped nto water. Do not use the carpet
washer w th a damaged cord or plug. If the supply cord s
damaged, t must be replaced by the manufacturer or a
recommended Serv ce Agent to avo d hazard and
nval dat ng the guarantee.
7. Do not pull or carry by cord. Do not use the cord as a
handle, close a door on the cord or pull cord around
sharp edges or corners. Do not run the carpet washer
over the cord. Keep the cord away from heated surfaces.
8. Do not unplug by pull ng on the cord.
9. Do not handle the plug or carpet washer w th wet hands.
10. Do not put any objects nto open ngs or operate w th open ngs
blocked, keep them free of anyth ng that may reduce a rflow.
11. Keep ha r, loose cloth ng, f ngers and all parts of the body away
from open ngs and mov ng parts.
12. Do not use the carpet washer on any glow ng, burn ng or
smok ng part cles.
13. Do not use w thout the solut on tank and d rty water tank
n place.
14. Turn off all controls before unplugg ng.
15. Do not use to p ck up flammable or combust ble l qu ds such as
petrol, or use n areas where they may be present.
16. Keep the un t on the floor.
17. Do not use an extens on cord.
18. Do not attempt to remove blockages w th sharp objects as they
may cause damage.
19. Store ndoors put away after use to prevent tr pp ng acc dents.
20. Us ng mproper voltage may result n damage to the motor and
poss ble njury to the user. The correct voltage s l sted on the
rat ng label.
21. A hazard may occur f the carpet washer runs over the power
supply cord.
22. To prevent d rty water from runn ng nto the motor, do not hold
the appl ance ups de-down or lay on ts s de. Use appl ance n
normal clean ng pos t on.
23. Take extra care when clean ng on sta rs.
24. Do not carry appl ance wh le motor s runn ng.
WARNING: Always sw tch off and unplug your mach ne from
the electr cal outlet before f ll ng and empty ng the clean water
tank, empty ng the d rty water tank, before assembl ng, open ng, before
connect ng/d sconnect ng the attachments, or carry ng out
ma ntenance or troubleshoot ng checks.
NOTE: Carpets should be dry vacuumed thoroughly
before wash ng.
IMPORTANT: If the hose or tools are blocked, sw tch off the
carpet washer and remove the blockage(s) before re-start ng
your mach ne. See ma ntenance sect on.
IMPORTANT: Clean ng f lters ma nta ns clean ng performance.
Vax recommends that your f lters should be checked and
cleaned per od cally. If your f lters are washable make sure they are
completely dry before nsert ng back nto the mach ne.
This machine is intended for household use only, and NOT for
commercial or industrial use.

Assemblin your carpet washer
NOTE: Do not saturate your carpet.
• Vacuum thoroughly.
• Test for colourfastness - Wet a wh te absorbent cloth w th the solut on. In a small, h dden area of your carpet,
gently rub the surface w th the dampened cloth. Wa t ten m nutes and check for colour removal or bleed w th
wh te paper towel or cloth. If your carpet has more than one colour, check all colours.
• When clean ng an ent re room, move furn ture out of the area to be cleaned. If the furn ture s too heavy to
move, place alum n um fo l or wax paper under legs. Th s w ll prevent wood f n shes from sta n ng your
carpet. P n up furn ture sk rts and curta ns.

Why won’t the carpet washer turn on?
•It may not be plugged nto the electr cal outlet correctly:
ensure that the plug s pushed n securely and
sw tched on.
•The power button on the un t hasn’t been fully
depressed.
• If un t cuts out dur ng use, d sconnect the un t from the wall
socket, allow to cool for one hour, clean the f lter and empty
the d rty water tank and check hose, brushbar for
blockages.
Why won’t the cleaner pick up solution/spills?
•The d rty water tank may be full and the auto shut off
engaged. Empty the d rty water tank.
• Ensure the d rty water tank s f tted correctly and the
tank cap s securely f tted.
• Check the brushbar for blockages.
Why won’t the solution/clean water dispense?
•Ensure the clean water tank s f tted securely.
• The solut on/clean water tank may be empty.
• Ensure d rty water tank s f tted securely.
