1.1 Introduction
The VDH Alfanet Server Program (VASP) is used to simply read the data from different types of control systems
and to operate those systems.
The number of users that may operate the system at the same time depends on your licence. Ask your supplier for
more information.
Multiple ripening chambers can be controlled at every location.
Fig. 1 VASP system
The PROBA Ripening System consists of the following components:
• A PROBA 5 Compact Controller with an Ethernet connection.
• An Ethernet network.
• A central server with VASP (VDH Alfa Server Program) software.
• A touch control panel.
Every ripening chamber can be fully controlled using its own PROBA 5 Compact controller. Every controller
regulates an individual ripening programme and can be fully operated using the PC or a touchscreen.

4 ConneCtions
• The EMC protection of the system is only guaranteed when the cables have effective shielding.
• The use of shielded cables is necessary for:
- Sensors
- RS485
- Ethernet network
• Fro the Ethernet LAN cables, use only FTP shielded cables (STP cable).
• Check whether all the cables have been connected properly.
• The PROBA 5 Compact is intended for use as a component that is part of a complete system.
Validation of the ultimate system is necessary in order to confirm that the system complies with the EMC
standards.
