The Veritas Router Plane Fence can be positioned on either side of the
plane and will work on both straight and curved workpieces.
Fence Set-Up
Screw the shaft into the tapped hole in the fence, exposing either the
straight or curved surface as required.
To get a good grip on the shaft while securing it to the fence, position
the fence mount such that the knob end will seat on the flat provided at
the end of the shaft. Tighten the knob, then grasp the fence mount while
tightening the shaft to the fence. The shaft can be loosened from the fence
in a similar manner.

Fence Attachment
Align the flat on the fence mount with the tapped hole in either side of
the plane body (below the knob). Install the screw (just finger tight), then
press the fence mount toward the sole of the plane so the top of the fence
mount fully contacts the machined lip. Tighten the screw.
Note: When the fence is not being used, the screw can be stored in the
tapped hole in the end of the shaft.
Fence Adjustment
Adjusting the fence is a matter of loosening the knob that locks the shaft
to the fence mount, sliding the fence to the desired location (offset from
blade), and then retightening the knob. The fence can be removed from the
plane all the while maintaining the fence setting.
Auxiliary Fence
If a larger fence is ever required, you can attach a shop-made fence with
#8 screws through the countersunk holes.
