Wir freuen uns, dass Sie sich für einen Powertrans2-19″-Einschub der
Vertiv Integrated Systems GmbH entschieden haben.
Powertrans2-19″-Einschub ist die Schnittstelle zwischen der Nie-
derspannungeinspeisung am PDU-Rack und den angeschlossenen
Serverschränken oder anderen IT-Geräten.
We are delighted that you have decided to buy a PowerTrans2 19″
plug-in unit from Vertiv Integrated Systems GmbH.
Powertrans2-19″plug-in unit is the interface between the low volt-
age supply at the PDU rack and the connected server racks or other
IT equipment.
Eigenschaften
– Energieverteilereinschub für PowerTrans2 Rack.
– Mit entsprechendem Anschlusskabel auch ohne PowerTrans2 Rack
funktionsfähig.
– Zwei getrennte dreiphasige 400V-Eingänge mit je max. 63A
Phasenstrom.
– Die Ausgänge an den Einschüben können flexibel je nach Kun-
denwunsch mit verschiedenen Konfigurationen bestückt werden
(über verschiedenen Steckverbindungen der Typen CEE und
GST18).
– Einfacher Anschluss durch Plug & Play- Installation.
Features
– Power distribution plug-in unit for PowerTrans2 rack.
– Also functional without PowerTrans2 rack if used with a suitable
connection cable.
– Two separate three-phase 400V inputs with max. 63 A phase cur-
rent each.
– The outlets at the plug-in units can be flexibly fitted with different
configurations depending on customer requirements (with differ-
ent hardware connections of the types CEE and GST18).
– Simple connection by Plug & Play installation.

– PowerTrans2 19″plug-in unit
Proper usage
The PowerTrans2 19″plug-in unit has been designed for industrial
applications in computer centres with a dry industrial environment.
Their use in other areas, for example in a wet room, outdoors or for
applications other than industrial ones shall be deemed improper.
The manufacturer will refuse all warranty and liability claims caused
by improper usage or if components are added or modified without
authorisation.

aus eigenmächtigen An- oder Umbauten entstehen, ist jeglicher

Safe operation
The PowerTrans2 19″plug-in unit is delivered in perfectly safe work-
ing conditions.
Vertiv Integrated Systems GmbH can only guarantee the safety
and reliability and function of this product if it is assembled, used,
extended and modified as described in this manual.
• Keep this manual always in the rack in which the plug-in unit is
installed.
• Have any damage and defects rectified without delay by autho-
rised personnel.
• Use only original accessories from the manufacturer.
• Only carry out the work described in this manual yourself. Own
modifications or repairs are forbidden!
• Refer also to the documentation supplied for connected devices.
1.4 Sicheres Arbeiten
Der PowerTrans2-19″-Einschub wird in einem sicherheitstechnisch
einwandfreien Zustand ausgeliefert.
Die Vertiv Integrated Systems GmbH kann die Sicherheit und Zuver-
lässigkeit und Leistung dieses Produktes nur dann gewährleisten,
wenn Montage und Bedienung nach diesem Handbuch ausgeführt
werden.
• Handbuch immer im Schrank aufbewahren, in dem der Einschub
gesteckt ist.
• Schäden und Mängel umgehend von autorisierten Fachkräften
beseitigen lassen.
• Verwenden Sie nur Original-Zubehör vom Hersteller.
• Nur die in diesem Handbuch beschriebenen Tätigkeiten selbst
durchführen. Eigene Umbauten oder Reparaturen sind untersagt!
• Beachten Sie auch weitere Dokumentationen von anderen Sys-

are contained in the ordinance to the protection from dangerous
substances, BGBL.I p.1782, shortly called GefStoffV.
1.5 Gefährliche Stoffe

Verordnung zum Schutz vor gefährlichen Stoffen, veröffentlicht im

• Existing safety facilities may not be suspended.
• It has to be made sure, that the electrical connection voltage cor-
responds to the values given on the type label.
• It has to be made sure at putting into operation that no inadmis-
sible electromagnetic effects and no inadmissible electrostatic
fields can arise. No cleaning agents may penetrate into the device.
• After completion of the assembly work all safety facilities have to
be checked immediately.
• Bestehende Sicherheitseinrichtungen dürfen nicht außer Kraft
gesetzt werden.
• Es ist sicherzustellen, dass die elektrische Anschlussspannung den
auf dem Typenschild angegebenen Werten entspricht.
• Bei Inbetriebnahme ist sicherzustellen, dass keine unzulässigen
elektromagnetischen Wirkungen und keine unzulässigen elek-
trostatischen Felder entstehen können. In das Gerät dürfen keine
Reinigungsmittel eindringen.
• Unmittelbar nach Abschluss der Montagearbeiten sind alle
Sicherheitseinrichtungen zu überprüfen.
Important safety instructions
The general instructions for the safety and accident prevention are in
the accident prevention regulation “General regulations” (BGV A1)
explained.
For the work on the electrical connection, the accident prevention
regulation “Electrical plants” (BGV A2) must be noticed. If the device
isn’t used within the Federal Republic of Germany, the country regu-
lations or laws of the use country have to be taken into account.
The inspection intervals in accordance with BGV A3 for fixed electri-
cal installations and equipment as well as the additional specific
operating conditions/tests must be observed.
1.6 Wichtige Sicherheitshinweise
Die allgemeinen Hinweise zur Sicherheit und Unfallverhütung sind in
der Unfallverhütungsvorschrift “Allgemeine Vorschriften” (BGV A1)
erläutert.
Für die Arbeiten am elektrischen Anschluss muss die Unfallverhü-
tungsvorschrift “Elektrische Anlagen” (BGV A2) beachtet werden.
Wird das Gerät nicht innerhalb der Bundesrepublik Deutschland
eingesetzt, sind die Landesvorschriften bzw. Gesetze des Einsatzlan-
des zu beachten.
Die Prüffristen nach BGV A3 für ortsfeste elektrische Anlagen und
Betriebsmittel bzw. die zusätzlichen spezifischen Betriebsbedingun-
gen/Prüfungen sind einzuhalten.
Arbeiten an der elektrischen Anlage dürfen nur von dafür
geschulten Fachkräften ausgeführt werden!

If a special legally fixed regulation for the operation of the device ex-
ists, so it is the task of the operator to adhere to it. Changes or addi-
tions must correspond to the national and international regulations
as well as to the generally approved rules of technology.
All mentioned regulations must be strictly observed!
Besteht für den Betrieb des Geräts eine besondere gesetzlich festge-
legte Regelung, so ist es Aufgabe des Betreibers, diese einzuhalten.
Änderungen oder Ergänzungen müssen den nationalen und interna-
tionalen Bestimmungen sowie den allgemein anerkannten Regeln
der Technik entsprechen.
Alle genannten Vorschriften sind unbedingt einzuhalten!
Nicht bei sicherheitskritischen Anwendungen
verwenden
Powertrans2-19″-Einschub hat den Zweck, IT- und Telekommunika-
tionsanlagen mit Strom zu versorgen. Der Einschub ist nicht für die
Verwendung zusammen mit lebenserhaltenden oder anderen als
kritisch eingestuften Geräten geeignet. Wenn Sie sich nicht sicher
sind, ob Sie den Powertrans2-19″-Einschub einsetzen sollen, wenden
Sie sich an Ihren Händler oder an Ihre örtliche Vertiv-Vertretung.
Keine Abdeckungen öffnen oder Objekte einführen
Niemals die Abdeckung des Powertrans2-19″-Einschubes öffnen
oder entfernen, mit Ausnahme von Durchführung der Bedienung,
Nachrüstung oder Inspektion. Niemals Fremdobjekte in die Einschü-
be einführen.
Führen Sie keine Wartungen selbst aus
Der Powertrans2-19″-Einschub enthält keine vom Benutzer zu
wartenden Teile. Falls Sie Unterstützung benötigen oder Fragen zu
Ihrem Powertrans2-19″-Einschub haben, wenden Sie sich an Vertiv
Applications Engineering oder an Ihre örtliche Vertiv-Vertretung.
Versuchen Sie nicht, Wartungsarbeiten selbst auszuführen.
Not for use in safety-critical applications
The PowerTrans2 19″plug-in unit is designed to deliver power to
information technology and telecommunication equipment. The
plug-in unit is not intended for use with life support or other desig-
nated critical devices. If uncertain about its application, consult your
local dealer or your Vertiv representative.
Do not open covers or insert objects
Never open or remove the cover of the PowerTrans2 19″plug-in unit,
with the exception of performing the servicing, retrofit or inspec-
tion. Never insert any foreign object into the plug-in units.
Do not service
The PowerTrans2 19″plug-in unit contains no user-serviceable parts.
If you need support or have questions about your PowerTrans2 19″
plug-in unit, contact Vertiv Distributed Processing Applications
or your local Vertiv representative. Do not attempt to service this
product yourself.

Design
The PowerTrans2 plug-in unit consists of a powder coated sheet steel
housing in 19″format.
2.2 Aufbau
Der PowerTrans2-Einschub besteht aus einem pulverbeschichtetem
Stahlblechgehäuse im 19″-Format .
General
The PowerTrans2 19″plug-in unit acts as an interface between the
low voltage mains connection at the PDU-Rack and the attached
server racks or other IT equipment.
The plug-in unit has two separate power supply terminal connec-
tions for redundancy purposes.
The current distribution is carried out via integrated circuit breakers
and the associated socket outlets.

2.1 Allgemeines
Der PowerTrans2 19 ″ -Einschub ist vorgesehen als Schnittstelle
zwischen der Niederspannungeinspeisung am PDU-Rack und den
angeschlossenen Serverschränken oder anderen IT-Geräten.
Zur Redundanz verfügt der Einschub über zwei separate
Spannungsversorgungsanschlüsse.
Die Stromverteilung erfolgt über integrierte Leistungsschutzschalter
und die zugehörigen Steckdosen.

Montage und Inbetriebnahme Installation and commissioning
Achtung!
Vor dem Stecken des Einschubes kontrollieren, dass alle
Leistungsschutzschalter hinten auf dem Einschub ausge-
schaltet sind!
Warning!
Check that all circuit breakers on the back of the plug-in unit
are switched off before inserting the plug-in unit!
Installation
The PowerTrans2 19″plug-in unit is intended for installation into
PowerTrans2 PDU-Rack only. However, with the appropriate con-
nection cable it is functional without PowerTrans2 rack and can be
operated in any other rack.
The permitted values for ambient temperature and air humidity on
installation site must be adhered.
Connection cables, which are connected to the outlets, must be
installed with a sufficient cross-section, at least 6 mm². Data about
suitable cross-sections can be found in the appendix A of the EN
60439-1:1999.
The plug-in unit may only be inserted into the PDU-Rack by an
instructed person.
It is not necessary to switch off the PDU-Rack before inserting the
plug-in unit.
Insert the plug-in unit into a free slot of the PDU-Rack and secure it.
The electrical connection to the rack is immediately established.
3.1 Montage
Der PowerTrans2-19″-Einschub ist vorzugsweise zum Einbau in ein
PowerTrans2-PDU-Rack vorgesehen. Mit entsprechendem Anschluss-
kabel ist er auch ohne PowerTrans2-Rack funktionsfähig und kann in
einem anderen Schrank betrieben werden.
Die zulässigen Werte für Umgebungstemperatur und Luftfeuchtigkeit
am Aufstellungsort sind einzuhalten.
Die an die Abgänge anzusteckenden Anschlusskabel müssen mit aus-
reichendem Querschnitt verlegt werden, mindestens jedoch 6mm².
Daten über den zu installierenden Querschnitt sind im Anhang A der
EN 60439-1:1999 zu finden.
Der Einschub darf nur durch eine unterwiesene Person in das PDU-
Rack gesteckt werden.
Ein Abschalten des PDU-Racks vor dem Einstecken des Einschubs ist
nicht notwendig.
Einschub in einen freien Steckplatz des PDU-Racks stecken und
sichern. Die elektrische Verbindung zum Schrank ist sofort hergestellt.
• Käfigmuttern von hinten in den Lochraster des 19″-Serverprofils
mittels Montagehilfe einrasten (A)
– Untere Feder der Käfigmutter ins Loch einhängen und
Montagehilfe durch das Loch durchstecken
– Obere Feder mit der Montagehilfe fangen und durch das quad-
ratische Loch des Profils ziehen
• 19″- Einschub einschieben und mittels 4 Schrauben sichern (B)
• Lock the caged nuts from the back into the mounting holes of the
19″server extrusion using the mounting aid (A)
– Hang the lower spring of the caged nut into the hole and move
the mounting aid through the hole
– Catch the upper spring with the mounting aid and pull it
through the square hole of the extrusion
• Insert the 19″ plug-in unit and secure it with 4 screws (B)

3.2 Inbetriebnahme
• Bevor der PowerTrans2 19″-Einschub in Betrieb genommen wird,
ist zu überprüfen, dass er richtig im Schrank eingesteckt und
verriegelt ist und die Abgangsleitungen korrekt gesteckt sind.
Die Leitungen zu den angeschlossenen Racks sind auf sichere
Verlegung zu prüfen.
• Die Dokumentation der angeschlossenen Komponenten zum
Anschluss an die Spannungsversorgung ist zu beachten.
• Nach korrektem Anschluss aller Komponenten können die
Leistungsschutzschalter eingeschaltet werden.
• Before the PowerTrans2 19″plug-in unit is put into operation, it
has to be checked that it is properly inserted and secured in the
rack and the outgoing cables are correctly connected. The cables
to the attached racks must to be checked for a secure laying.
• The documentation of the attached appliances regarding their
connection to the voltage supply must be observed.
• After a correct connection of all components, the circuit breakers
can be switched on.
Achtung! Lebensgefahr! Unbedingt beachten:
An den Versorgungsbuchsen für die Einschübe am PDU-Rack
können hohe Spannungen auftreten, es dürfen keine Gegen-
stände eingeführt werden.
In die Steckdosen der Einschübe dürfen keine Gegenstände
eingeführt werden. Es können hohe Spannungen auftreten.
Vor Wartungs- und Reparaturarbeiten am Einschub sind die
Abgangsleitungen abzustecken und der Einschub aus dem
Rack herauszuziehen.
Caution! Danger to life! Strictly observe:
High voltages can occur on the supply sockets for the plug-in
units at the PDU-Rack, no objects may be inserted.
No objects may be inserted into the electrical outlets of the
plug-in units. High voltages can occur.
Before maintenance and repair work on the plug-in unit the
outgoing cables must be disconnected and the plug-in unit
has to be pulled out of the rack.

Hinweis
Die Abgangsleitungen zu den Verbrauchern können wahlweise
von oben oder unten durch die entsprechenden Öffnungen aus
dem Schrank geführt werden. Von der Einführungsstelle aus
werden die Leitungen in Klipsen an beiden Seiten geführt und
am Einschub angesteckt.
Information
The outgoing cables to the appliances can optionally be routed
out of the rack from above or below through the corresponding
openings. From the place of entry the cables are routed along
both side panels using clips and are connected to the plug-in
unit.

Wartung und Entsorgung Maintenance and disposal
Maintenance
The PowerTrans2 19″plug-in unit is maintenance-free. Opening the
case is necessary only when an inspection shall be carried out by a
qualified electrician.
4.1 Wartung
Der PowerTrans2 19″-Einschub ist wartungsfrei. Ein Öffnen des Gehäu-
ses ist nur notwendig, wenn eine Inspektion durch eine Elektrofach-
kraft durchgeführt werden soll.
Cleaning
PowerTrans2 19″plug-in unit can be cleaned with a dry cloth. The
usage of aggressive substances (cleaning petrol or similar) can lead
to damage of surfaces and corrosion of the components.
4.2 Reinigung
Der PowerTrans2 19″-Einschub kann mit einem trockenen Tuch gerei-
nigt werden. Die Verwendung von aggressiven Stoffen (Reinigungs-
benzin o.ä.) kann zur Beschädigung von Oberflächen und Korrosion
der
Komponenten führen.
Disposal
At the end of service life of the plug-in unit the outgoing cables
must be detached and the unit must be pulled out of the rack. The
unit can then be taken for disposal since it only consists of steel,
aluminium, copper and synthetic material.
4.3 Entsorgung
Am Ende der Einsatzzeit des Einschubes sind die Abgangsleitungen
abzutrennen und der Einschub aus dem Schrank herauszuziehen.
Der Einschub kann dann, da er nur aus Stahl, Aluminium, Kupfer und
Kunststoff besteht, der Entsorgung zugeführt werden.
