HazardsofImproperUse:

Vestilstrivestoidentifyeveryforeseeablehazardsassociatedwiththeuseofitsproducts.However,material
handlingisinherentlydangerousandnomanualcanaddresseveryconceivablerisk.Ultimately,themosteffective
meansforpreventingaccidentsisfortheend‐usertoapplygoodjudgmentandforesightwheneverusingthis
product.

Ifthisproductisusedimproperlyorcarelessly,theuserand/orbystandersmightsustainserious
personalinjuries.Toreducethelikelihoodofinjury:
Readandunderstandtheentiremanualbeforeassembling,usingormaintainingthecart.
DONOTmodifythiscartinanywayUNLESSyoufirstobtainwrittenapprovalfromVestil.Unapproved
modificationsautomaticallyvoidtheLimitedWarranty(p.9)andmightmakethecartunsafetouse.
DONOTattempttocarryortransportloadsthatexceedthecapacityofthecart.Capacityinformationappears
inthe“Specifications”tableonp.#aswellasonlabel287(see“LabelingDiagram”onp.8.)
ALWAYSsecuredrumstothecartwiththe(yellow)drumlock.
DONOTstand,sit,orrideonthecart.Onlyusethiscarttomovedrums.
Alwayswatchthedrumcarefullywhilethecartismoving.Ifnecessary,securethedrumtothecart,e.g.with
ratchetstraps.
Donotattempttogoupordownslopedterrainwithaloadedcart.Onlyusethecartoneven,levelground
whenitisloaded.Whenunloaded,alwayscontrolthecartfromtheuphillsidewhilemovingupordownslopes.
Carefullyrotatethecarttosetthedrumontheground.Ifyoucannotcomfortablyliftthedrumandcontrolthe
cartasitrotates,asksomeonetoassistyou.
Routinelyinspectthecartaccordingtotheinstructionsin“InspectionsandMaintenance”(p.8).

Properuse,maintenance,andstorageareessentialtokeepthiscartinnormalconditionforas
longaspossible.Applytheinspectionandmaintenanceproceduresprovidedonp.8.
oRegularlycheckallfasteners.Tightenloosenuts.Lubricaterollers,wheels,andcasterswhenevernecessary.
oInspectthehandle,handlereceiver,andretaininghardwareforcracks,bends,etc.
oExaminetheframe.Checkallweldsandframemembersforcracksandseverecorrosion/rusting.
oCleanthecartperiodically.
oRemoverustwithasteelbristlebrush,cleantheaffectedarea,andcoveritwithtouchuppaint.
oStorethecartinadrylocation.

Usingthecart:
Toengageadrumwiththecart:
1. Movethecartalongsidethedrumandrotatethecarttotheuprightposition.
2. Slidethecarttowardsthedrum.Thedrumretainerswillcontactthesideofthedrum.
3. Pushthetopofthecartforward(towardsthedrum).Therimhookshouldslideoverthetopoftherimandseatbehind
it.
4. Pushthedrumforwardslightlyuntilthebottomofthedrum(bythedrumretainers)liftsoffoftheground.
5.Slidethedrumretainersunderthebottomofthedrum.
6.Carefullyrotatethecartbackontoitswheels.Whenthecartanddrumarehorizontal,thedrumissupportedbythe
drumrollers.Thedrumcanberolledtoorientitasneeded.
7.Unloadthecartbyreversingsteps1‐6.NOTE:Whenthecartisnotinuse,thehandlecanberemovedandstoredby
insertingtheendofthehandleintothestorageringfromthefrontofthecart.



InspectionsandMaintenance:
Beforeusingthecartforthefirsttime,createawrittenrecordofitsappearanceandfunctions.Includedetailed
descriptionsabouttheframe,casters,wheels,rollers,andhandle.Liftadrumwiththecartbyfollowingthe
instructionsin“Usingthecart”onp.7.Recordobservationsabouthowthecartrespondswhenweightisappliedto
it.Thoroughlyphotographtheunitincludingalllabelsappliedtoit.Addthephotographstoyourrecord.Thiswritten
recordestablishes“normalcondition”.Whenconductingfutureinspections,compareyourobservationswiththe
recordtodetermineifacomponentisinnormalconditionorrequiresrepairorreplacement.
Regularinspectionsandmaintenancearenecessarytokeepthecartinnormalconditionforaslongaspossible.
Donotusethecartunlessitisinnormalcondition.Completeallnecessaryreplacementsandrepairsbefore
returningthecarttoservice.
Step1:Tagthecart“OutofService.”
Step2:Atleastoncepermonth,inspecttheelementslistedbelow.[Referto“PartsDiagrams”onp.3,4.]
a) Frame:Inspectallweldsforcracks.Inspectthemetaltubingfordamage,warps,andcracks.Payparticular
attentiontoareaswherethewheels,rollers,andcastersfastentotheframe.Makesurethatallhardwareis
securelyfastenedtogetherandthattheboltholesintheframearenotelongated,warped,orcracked.
b) Casters,wheels,androllers:Checkeachoftheitemsforexcessivewear,cracks,etc.Bothcastersandboth
wheelsshouldsolidlycontactthegroundandshouldrollsmoothlywithoutwobbling.Examinethecenter
hubofeachcasterforcracks.Examineall(8)ofthedrumrollers.
c) Handleandhandlereceiver:Confirmthatthehandleissecurelyfastenedtothereceiver(boltandwing
nut).Checktheweldsthatfusethereceivertotheframe.Makesurethatthereceiveropeningisnot
elongated,cracked,etc.Examinethehandleforcracks,flattenedregions,andotherdamage.
Step3:Completeallnecessaryrepairs/replacements.Deformities,severecorrosionorrusting,orexcessivewearof
anypartwarrantsimmediatereplacementofthatpart.DONOTreturnthetabletoserviceuntiladjustmentsand
repairsarecomplete!NOTE:Adjustmentsandrepairsdiffersignificantlyfrommodifications:
a) Adjustments&repairsaresimplecorrectionthatrestoresthecarttonormaloperatingcondition.Examples
includetighteningloosefastenersandlubricatingmovingparts.
b) Modificationsarechangesthatalterthecartfromoriginalcondition,likebendingtheframe.NEVERmodify
thecartwithoutexpress,writtenapprovalfromVestil.Modificationsautomaticallyvoidthelimitedwarranty
andmightmakethedeviceunsafetouse.
Step4:Makeadatedrecordofallrepairs,adjustmentsandreplacements.
Step5:Storethecartindoorsinadrylocation.
LabelingDiagram:

Thetableshouldalwaysbelabeledasshowninthisdiagram.However,labelcontentandlocationaresubject
tochangesoyourproductmightnotbelabeledexactlyasshown.Thoroughlyphotographtheunitwhenyou
firstreceiveitasdiscussedinthe“WrittenRecord”portionoftheInspectionsandMaintenancesection(above).
Makesurethatyourrecordincludesaphotographofeachlabel.Replacealllabelsthatare,orlaterbecome,
damaged,missing,ornoteasilyreadable(e.g.faded).OrderreplacementlabelsbycontactingtheTechnical
Service&Partsdepartmentonlineathttp://www.vestilmfg.com/parts_info.htmorbycalling(260)665‐7586and
askingtheoperatortoconnectyoutothePartsDepartment.


VestilManufacturingCorporation(“Vestil”)warrantsthisproducttobefreeofdefectsinmaterialandworkmanshipduringthe
warrantyperiod.Ourwarrantyobligationistoprovideareplacementforadefective,originalpartcoveredbythewarrantyafter
wereceiveaproperrequestfromtheWarrantee(you)forwarrantyservice.

Whomayrequestservice?
Onlyawarranteemayrequestservice.YouareawarranteeifyoupurchasedtheproductfromVestilorfromanauthorized
distributorANDVestilhasbeenfullypaid.

Definitionof“originalpart”?
AnoriginalpartisapartusedtomaketheproductasshippedtotheWarrantee.

Whatisa“properrequest”?
ArequestforwarrantyserviceisproperifVestilreceives:1)aphotocopyoftheCustomerInvoicethatdisplaystheshipping
date;AND2)awrittenrequestforwarrantyserviceincludingyournameandphonenumber.Sendrequestsbyoneofthe

Inthewrittenrequest,listthepartsbelievedtobedefectiveandincludetheaddresswherereplacementsshouldbedelivered.
AfterVestilreceivesyourrequestforwarrantyservice,anauthorizedrepresentativewillcontactyoutodeterminewhetheryour
claimiscoveredbythewarranty.Beforeprovidingwarrantyservice,Vestilwillrequireyoutosendtheentireproduct,orjustthe
defectivepart(orparts),toitsfacilityinAngola,IN.

Whatiscoveredunderthewarranty?
Thewarrantycoversdefectsinthefollowingoriginal,dynamicparts:motors,hydraulicpumps,motorcontrollers,andcylinders.
Italsocoversdefectsinoriginalpartsthatwearundernormalusageconditions(“wearingparts”),suchasbearings,hoses,wheels,
seals,brushes,andbatteries.

Howlongisthewarrantyperiod?
Thewarrantyperiodfororiginaldynamiccomponentsis90days.Forwearingparts,thewarrantyperiodis90days.Both
warrantyperiodsbeginonthedateVestilshipstheproducttotheWarrantee.Iftheproductwaspurchasedfromanauthorized
distributor,theperiodsbeginwhenthedistributorshipstheproduct.Vestilmay,atitssolediscretion,extendawarrantyperiod
forproductsshippedfromauthorizeddistributorsbyupto30daystoaccountforshippingtime.

Ifadefectivepartiscoveredbythewarranty,whatwillVestildotocorrecttheproblem?
Vestilwillprovideanappropriatereplacementforanycoveredpart.AnauthorizedrepresentativeofVestilwillcontactyouto
discussyourclaim.

Whatisnotcoveredbythewarranty?
TheWarrantee(you)areresponsibleforpayinglaborcostsandfreightcoststoreturntheproducttoVestilforwarrantyservice.

EventsthatautomaticallyvoidthisLimitedWarranty.
Misuse;
Negligentassembly,installation,operationorrepair;
Installation/useincorrosiveenvironments;
Inadequateorimpropermaintenance;
Damagesustainedduringshipping;
Collisionsorotheraccidentsthatdamagetheproduct;
Unauthorizedmodifications:DonotmodifytheproductINANYWAYwithoutfirstreceivingwrittenauthorizationfrom
Vestil.

Doanyotherwarrantiesapplytotheproduct?
VestilManufacturingCorp.makesnootherexpresswarranties.Allimpliedwarrantiesaredisclaimedtotheextentallowedby
law.AnyimpliedwarrantynotdisclaimedislimitedinscopetothetermsofthisLimitedWarranty.Vestilmakesnowarrantyor
representationthatthisproductcomplieswithanystateorlocaldesign,performance,orsafetycodeorstandard.Noncompliance
withanysuchcodeorstandardisnotadefectinmaterialorworkmanship.

