Speakerstoamplifier
Connectthespeakersandsubwooferasshownbelow.Usethelonger,8metrecablesfortherearsatellites,andtheshorter,2metrecablesforthe
frontspeakersandthesubwoofer.
Onallspeakers,connecttheall-blackcablestotheblack(-)terminals, andthecableswiththewhitestripetothered(+)terminals.
ThesubwooferconnectstotheSubterminal.Alltheotherspeakersarethesame,soyoucanconnectanyspeakertoanyofthefrontright,front
left,rearrightorrearleftterminals.

Note:Afterconnectingthe
subwoofer,makesureyoucan

system.Alternatively,youcanuseasignalsplittertosplityour
decoder’scentrechannelintotwomonochannelsandconnect
directlytoyourTV’sstereoinput,anduseyourTV’sspeakersas
thecentrespeakerforfullsurroundsound.RefertoyourTV’s
documentationtoseeifyoucandothis.
•ToconnectforDolbyPro Logic, youcanconnectthespeakers
anduseaphantomchannelorTVspeakersasdescribed
aboveforDolbyDigital.Alternatively,youcantakeadvantage
ofDolbyProLogic’smonosurroundchannel,byconnecting
onespeakeronlytoasurroundchannel,twospeakerstothe
frontleftandrightchannels,andonespeakertocentre.Refer
toyourdecoder’sdocumentationtoseeifyoucandothis.
Stereo sound
StereosourcesconnecttoInputs2and3.
•Input2isforconnectingfull-sizedunitsthatusetwoRCA
phonoleadssuchasCDplayers,MiniDiscplayersoranalog
cassetteplayers,asshowninFigure3.Input2’ssensitivityis
optimisedtoallowforthehigheroutputofmostCDplayers.
•Input3,atthefrontoftheamplifier,isforconnectingunitsthat
usea3.5mmstereojackoutput,suchasportableCDplayers
orMiniDiscplayers,asshowninFigure4.
Amplifiertopower
Makesuretheamplifierisoffatthepowerswitch,andthatthe
volumeisturneddownatthefrontoftheamplifier(fullyanti-
clockwise).Connectthepowerleadtothepowersocketonthe
backoftheamplifier,andswitchonthepowerswitch.

Positioning
General
Herearesomegeneralrulesofthumbyoucanuseforpositioning
SiroccoCrossfire’sunits.Theyareonlyrecommendations–the
keywordis‘experiment’,untilyouhaveaset-upandasound
you like.
Amplifier
Theamplifierfitsneatlyontopofthesubwoofer,butifyouwantto
placeitsomewhereelse,makesureitiswell-ventilated.Trytoput
itonahard,evensurfacesuchasyourdesk,orahi-fistand.
Takespecialcaretomakesuretheventilationholes at the top
andbottom are notobstructed.Ifyouobstruct these holesyou
maycause the amplifiertooverheat,which could damageit
andinvalidateyourwarranty.
Satellites
3D positional sound
WhenusingSiroccoCrossfirewithaPCfor3Dgaming,arrange
thespeakerssothattheyformasquarearoundyou,withyouin
themiddle,asshowninFigure5opposite.Ifpossible,trytohave
thespeakersatyourheadheightasyouareseated.
AsshowninFigure6opposite,ifyouareplacingthefront
speakersoneithersideofyourmonitor,trytokeepthesatellites
levelwithorinfrontofthemonitor,butnotfurtherbackbecause
thenthemonitormaydisruptthe3Daudioeffect.TheSirocco
Crossfiresatellitesaremagneticallyshieldedsotheywillnot
damageyourmonitoriftheyareplacednexttoit.
Surround sound
IfyouwanttouseSiroccoCrossfirewithasurroundsounddecoder,
suchasVideoLogic’sDigiTheatreDecoder,positionthespeakers
accordingtothedocumentationincludedwiththedecoder.
Stereo
IfyouwanttolistentomusicwithSiroccoCrossfire,experiment
withmovingthesatellitesfurtherawayfromthemonitorto
enhancethestereoeffect. Youcanalsolistentostereosurround
usingtheQuadswitch,asexplainedinthenextsection.
Subwoofer
Lowfrequenciesarenon-directional,soyoucanplacethe
subwoofervirtuallyanywhereyouwant.Generallytheclosera
subwooferistothewallsorfloor,themorebassitwillgenerate.
Werecommendplacingitonthefloor.
Afterplacingthesubwoofer,youcanadjusttheamountofbass
withtheSubcontrolontheamplifier.Forthebestresults,make
surethebassreflexport(theholeatthefrontofthesubwoofer)
isn’tobscured.

Solvingtheproblem
Thesearesomeofthemostlikelyreasonsforproblemsyoumight
havewithSiroccoCrossfire.
Ican’tgetanysound.
Makesurethattheamplifierandaudiosourceare:
•switchedon.
•connectedproperly.
•producingsound.Listenthroughheadphonestoconfirmthis.
IfyouhaveconnectedSiroccoCrossfiretoaPCsoundcard,make
suretheWindowsvolumecontrolisn’tsettomute,bydouble-
clickingthespeakericononyourWindowstaskbar.
Makesureallthecablesareproperlyconnected.
Thesoundhastoomuchortoolittlebass.
AdjusttheSubcontrolontheamplifier.
Ifyouraudiosourcehastonecontrols,setthemtoneutral.
Ifyouhavetoolittlebass,makesurethebassreflexport(thehole
atthefrontofthesubwoofer)isn’tobscured.
Makesurethesubwooferandsatellitesareproperlyconnected.
Thereissound,butitis veryquiet.
MakesuretheVolumecontrolontheamplifierisn’tsettoolow.
Ifyoursourcehasavolumecontrol,makesureitisn’tsettoolow.
Makesuretheaudiosourceisproperlyconnected.
IfyouhaveconnectedSiroccoCrossfiretoaPCsoundcard,make
suretheWindowsvolumecontrolisn’tsettoolow,bydouble-
clickingthespeakericononyourWindowstaskbar.
Audiosoundsdistorted.
Ifyoursourcehasavolumecontrol,makesureitisn’tsettoohigh.
Makesureyouareusing aline-levelaudiosource,andthatthe
signalisn’tbeingamplifiedbeforeitconnectstotheamplifier.
Makesureallthecablesareproperlyconnected.
Oneofthespeakersisn’tworking.
Youmayhavepushedthespeakercablesofarintothesocketat
thebackofthespeakeroramplifierthatthesocketcontactswith
thecable’sinsulatingjacketratherthanthemetalconnector.Pull
thecableoutuntilyouaresurethereisametal-to-metalcontact.
Icanhearbasseffectswhilelisteningtomusic
onsource2or3.
Youmayberunningyoursurroundsoundsourcewiththelow
frequencyeffects(LFE)channelstillactive.Eitherswitchoffthe
surroundsoundsource,pauseit,orstopit
Onlythefrontspeakers are working,oronlythe
rearspeakersareworking.
Ifjustthefrontspeakersareworking,youmaybeusingstereo
Inputs2or3withtheQuadswitchout,oryoumayhavesetthe
Fadecontrolfullyclockwiseforfrontspeakersonly.
Ifjusttherearspeakersareworking,youmayhavesettheFade
controlfullyanti-clockwiseforrearspeakersonly.
Oneofthesatellitesisnot producing sound.
Thiscouldbeaproblemwiththesatellite,theaudiosourceor
theamplifier.
Gothroughthesestepstofindoutwhich:
1. Swaptheleftandrightphonoleadsatthebackofthe
amplifier,forthestereopair(frontorrear).
Ifthesatelliteremainsdead,gotostep2.
Ifthesatellitesswaptoo,thatis,thedeadsatellitebecomes
liveandthelivesatellitegoes dead,theproblemiswiththe
audiosourceorthecables,somakesurethesourceisworking
andthatthecablesareproperlyconnected.
2. Replacethephonoleadsastheywereonthebackofthe
amplifier.Nowswapalltherightsatellitecablesonthebackof
theamplifierwithalltheleftsatellitecables.
Ifthesatelliteremainsdead,theproblemiswiththesatellite.
Ifthesatellitesswaptoo,thatis,thedeadsatellitebecomes
liveandthelivesatellitegoesdead, then theproblemiswith
theamplifier.

Safetyinstructions
Make sure the amplifier is properly ventilated from above and below. Do not install the amplifier in a
confined space such as a bookcase or similar unit.
Keep the amplifier away from heat sources.
Don’t use the amplifier or loudspeakers near water.
Avoid objects or liquids getting into the amplifier or loudspeakers.
Unplug the power lead if Sirocco Crossfire won’t be used for a long period.
Avoid sustained periods of high-volume use. Due to Sirocco Crossfire’s low distortion you may be
listening at higher levels than you realise.
Do not use Sirocco Crossfire for sustained periods at high volume with an input signal above line level
(i.e. amplified before it reaches the amplifier), as this may damage the loudspeaker cones.
Mainssafety
Sirocco Crossfire uses a 220-240V AC 50Hz mains supply.
If you want to change the fuse on the amplifier, replace it with the same type as stated
on the unit. A spare fuse is located below the mains socket. Access it by removing the
mains lead, and levering the fuse holder out.
The mains lead is fitted with a moulded, non-rewireable mains plug. If the lead or plug become
damaged, replace it with a new mains cord assembly. Never attempt to repair or modify the mains lead
or plug.
Do not attempt to remove any screws or gain access inside any component of Sirocco Crossfire. No
user-serviceable parts are inside. For your safety, always obey the warning:

Sicherheitsvorschriften
Sorgen Sie für eine vorschriftsmäßige Belüftung des Verstärkers (oben und unten). Betreiben Sie den
Verstärker keinesfalls in einem Bücherschrank oder einem ähnlichen geschlossenen Möbelstück.
Halten Sie den Verstärker von Wärmequellen fern.
Betreiben Sie den Verstärker und die Lautsprecher nicht in unmittelbarer Nähe von Wasser.
Verhindern Sie jegliches Eindringen von Flüssigkeit in das Innere des Verstärkers und der Lautsprecher.
Ziehen Sie den Netzstecker ab, wenn Sirocco Crossfire für längere Zeit nicht benutzt wird.
Vermeiden Sie längere Betriebszeiten mit hoher Lautstärke. Durch die niedrige harmonische
Verzerrung von Sirocco Crossfire haben Sie die Lautstärke möglicherweise höher eingestellt, als Sie
denken.
Betreiben Sie Sirocco Crossfire nicht über längere Zeit mit hoher Lautstärke und einem zu hohen
Eingangssignalpegel, d.h. der über Line-Level liegt (z.B. ein bereits verstärktes Eingangssignal), denn
dies kann die Lautsprechermembranen beschädigen.
Sicherheit im Umgang mit Netzstrom
Sirocco Crossfire benötigt eine Betriebsspannung von 220-240 Volt Wechselstrom mit 50 Hz.
Beim Ersetzen der Sicherung des Verstärkers darf nur eine Sicherung desselben Typs und
mit demselben Sicherungswert verwendet werden. Unterhalb des Netzanschlusses am
Verstärker befindet sich eine Ersatzsicherung. Zum Erneuern der Sicherung muß erst das
Netzkabel abgezogen und dann das Sicherungsfach vorsichtig herausgehebelt werden.
Das Netzkabel besitzt einen angegossenen Netzstecker und muß bei einer Beschädigung des Kabels
oder Steckers komplett erneuert werden. Keinesfalls versuchen, das Kabel oder den Stecker zu
reparieren.
Versuchen Sie keinesfalls, die Gehäuseschrauben zu entfernen oder in das Gehäuse von Sirocco
Crossfire einzudringen. Sirocco Crossfire enthält keine Teile, die vom Benutzer gewartet werden können.
Aus Sicherheitsgründen muß folgendes unbedingt beachtet werden:

Consignesdesécurité
Veiller à ce que l’air puisse circuler librement autour de l’amplificateur pour garantir une ventilation
suffisante. Ne pas installer ni placer l’amplificateur dans une bibliothèque, un placard renfermé ni
aucun autre espace réduit.

Protéger l’amplificateur et les haut-parleurs contre la pluie et l’humidité.

Éviter toute utilisation prolongée à un volume sonore élevé. Sirocco Crossfire garantissant un
minimum de distorsions, le volume obtenu risque en effet d’être plus élevé qu’escompté.
Éviter toute utilisation prolongée à un volume sonore élevé en amplifiant le signal d’entrée avant
qu’il n’atteigne l’amplificateur, afin de parer à tout risque d’endommagement de la membrane
conique des haut-parleurs
Sécurité électrique
Sirocco Crossfire doit être branché sur une tension secteur de 220-240 V CA 50 Hz.
Lorsqu’il est nécessaire de changer un fusible sur l’amplificateur, utiliser un fusible du
type indiqué. Un fusible de rechange est situé sous la prise au secteur. Pour y accéder,
débrancher le câble secteur, puis dégager la douille du fusible.
Le câble secteur est équipé d’une fiche secteur interdisant tout recâblage. En cas d’endommagement
du câble ou de la fiche, remplacer l’ensemble. Ne pas tenter de réparer ou de modifier le câble ou la
fiche.
Ne pas retirer de vis ou ouvrir Sirocco Crossfire pour accéder aux pièces se trouvant à l’intérieur.
Aucune d’entre elles ne peut être réparée par l’utilisateur. Respecter la consigne de sécurité suivante:
ATTENTION – RISQUE DE CHOC ÉLECTRIQUE – NE PAS OUVRIR LE BOÎTIER.
