A GFI shall be sed if req ired by NFPA-70 (National Electric Code), federal/state/local
laws, or local ordinances.
• The required use of a GFI is normally related to the lo ation of a re epta le with respe t to
any signifi ant sour es of water or moisture.
• Viking Range Corporation will NOT warranty any problems resulting from GFI outlets whi h
are not installed properly or do not meet the requirements below.
If the se of a GFI is req ired, it should be:
• Of the re epta le type (breaker type or portable type NOT re ommended)
• Used with permanent wiring only (temporary or portable wiring NOT re ommended)
• On a dedi ated ir uit (no other re epta les, swit hes or loads in the ir uit)
• Conne ted to a standard breaker of appropriate size (GFI breaker of the same size NOT
re ommended)
• Rated for Class A (5 mA +/- 1 mA trip urrent) as per UL 943 standard)
• In good ondition and free from any loose-fitting gaskets (if appli able in outdoor situations)
• Prote ted from moisture (water, steam, high humidity) as mu h as reasonably possible

Most of the unit’s weight is at the top. Extra are is needed when moving the unit to prevent
tipping. Use ardboard shipping material or plywood under unit until it is installed in the
operating position to prote t floor surfa e.
It is your responsibility to:
• omply with installation spe ifi ations and dimensions.
• properly install unit.
• remove any moldings or de orative panels that prevent the unit from being servi ed.
• make sure that you have these materials (not provided with your unit), whi h are ne essary
for proper installation:
• 1/4” (6 mm) opper tubing with shutoff valve
• 6– #8 x 3” (7.6 m) wood s rews (longer s rews may be required)
• 1– Saddle valve (do not use self-pier ing feature of the valve)
• assure that floor will support unit, door panels and ontents (approximately 1200 pounds [540 kg]).
• provide a properly grounded ele tri al outlet.
• assure that lo ation will permit applian e doors to open 90° minimum.

General Information
Water Supply Requirements
Use only 1/4” (6 mm) copper tubing or
water line. Do Not install copper tubing in
area where temperatures drop below
35° F (1.7° C). Be ore attaching copper
tubing to the unit, lush at least 2 quarts
(1.9 L) o water through the copper tubing
and into a bucket to remove any particles
in the water line.

• Conne t 1/4” (6 mm) flexible opper
tubing to household plumbing in

ordinan es.
• Length of opper tubing must rea h from
water supply onne tion to the unit
onne tion with an additional length to
fa ilitate moving the unit out of en losure
for leaning or servi e. Tubing should be
soft instead of rigid and ends should be
free of burrs.
• Copper tubing route must be above 35° F
(1.7° C) to prevent water line from freezing.
• Do not use plastic water lines rom the
household plumbing to the water inlet
valve connection on the re rigeration
unit.
• Do not use the sel -piercing eature o a
saddle valve. The hole made by the
pier ing lan e is too small for the water
flow rate required by the i e maker.
• If saddle valve is not used, pla e a
separate shut-off valve in an easily
a essible lo ation between water supply
and the unit. Do not lo ate shut-off valve
behind the unit.
• The installation of Viking units with a
reverse osmosis system is a eptable
as long as the water pressure remains
within the allowable PSI as stated below.
It is important to note that with many
reverse osmosis systems, the pressure
starts off high, but then it de reases as the
water level of the reverse osmosis storage
area drops. This must be onsidered when
he king the water pressure oming into
the unit.
• Conne t a verti al or horizontal 1/2”
(1.2 m) to 1-1/4” (3.2 m) COLD water
line near water area.
• Run water line through the floor, ba k, or
side wall. Tubing should lay flat on floor
underneath the unit. Clamp tubing to wall
or floor.
• Water pressure must be greater than 20 psi
and less than 120 psi on non-dispensers
and greater than 35 psi and less than 120
psi on dispensers.

• Rear wall is solid and is able to support
two horizontally mounted 2 X 4s (in luded)
bolted to two wall studs. The 2 X 4 board
bolt heads must be flush with 2 X 4 to
prevent obstru tion.
• Remove anything atta hed to rear or side
walls that an obstru t unit installation.
• Cutout dimensions are a urate.
• Ele tri al outlet is in orre t lo ation.
• Water line is in orre t lo ation.
• Do not install a refrigeration unit near a
heat sour e, nor in a lo ation where the
surrounding temperature will fall below
60º F (16º C).
Ele tri al Requirements
It is the ustomer’s responsibility to:
• onta t a qualified ele tri al installer.
• assure that the ele tri al installation is
adequate and in onforman e with the
National Ele tri al Code, ANSI/NFPA 70-
latest edition or Canadian Ele tri al Code
C22.1-1998 and C22.2 No. 0-M91 (or
latest edition), and all lo al odes and
ordinan es. A 115 volt, 60-Hz, 15 amp,
fused, ele tri al supply is required.
It is required that a separate ir uit serving
only this applian e be provided. This
applian e is equipped with a power supply
ord having a 3-prong grounding plug. To
minimize possible sho k hazard, the ord
must be plugged into a mating 3-prong,
grounding-type wall re epta le.
Do not use an extension cord.
If odes permit a separate grounding wire to
be used, it is re ommended that a qualified
ele tri ian determine that the grounding
path is adequate.
DO NOT ground to a gas pipe. Che k with
a qualified ele tri ian if you are not sure the
applian e is properly grounded. DO NOT
have a fuse in the neutral or grounding
ir uit.
Anti-Tip Requirements
The anti-tip boards should be fastened into
position prior to moving the unit into the
opening.
Note: Additional mounting boards may be
required if the unit does not touch the back
wall of the enclosure To prevent unit from
tipping forward, it must be secured in place
with a solid soffit or wood block
WARNING
To avoid serious illness or death, do not use unit
where water is mi robiologi ally unsafe or of
unknown quality without adequate disinfe tion
before or after the system. Systems ertified for yst
redu tion may be used on disinfe ted water that
may ontain filterable ysts. The ontaminants or
other substan es removed or redu ed by this water
treatment system are not ne essarily in you water.

Using an 8” magneti nut driver, remove
the two 1/4” s rews.
Remove grille assembly.
• Most of the unit’s weight is at the top.

to support and stabilize the full weight.
• Do not drop unit.
• Remove exterior shipping materials prior
to moving unit into home.

• To avoid personal injury, wear gloves when
performing any installation pro edure and
wear eye prote tion when utting metal

TIP OVER HAZARD
Applian e is top heavy and tips easily when
not ompletely installed. Keep doors losed
until applian e is ompletely installed and
se ured per installation instru tions. Use two
or more people to move and install
applian e. Failure to do so an result in
death or serious injury.
Unpa king unit
1. Remove top and bottom strap.
2. Remove top ap.
3. Cut arton rear approximately 1/4”
(0.6 m) to 1” (2.5 m) from right orner
with a utility knife extended 1/4” (0.6 m).
4. Remove arton and exterior pa kaging.
Save ardboard shipping material to
prote t floor surfa e when installing unit.
Remove anti-tip board, ki kplate and door
trim pie es (DF models) from rear of unit.

Moving Unit
Remove shipping bra kets from skid by removing 4 bolts
(2 on ea h side) with a 1/2” deep-well so ket wen h and
a pair of pliers.
Note: Tilting unit is not required to remove shipping
brackets
Slip applian e dolly between unit and skid. Only use
dolly from the rear of the unit to remove unit from skid.
After the unit is removed from the skid, a dolly an be
used from either side or the ba k BUT NOT THE FRONT.
Note: Use excess packaging to protect decorative trim;
also, verify that leveling legs are up (0” adjustment)

Installation
Flush Mount Side Trim Installation
Note: If the unit is to be installed flush with the abinets, the flush mount side trim must be
installed. If not, skip to “installation”.
Step 1 - Remove the trim kit from the rear of the unit. The trim is ontained in a box marked
“Refrigerator Trim Parts - DO NOT DISCARD”
Step 2 - Lo ate the ne essary parts: Two (2) flush mount trim pie es and a hardware kit with
twenty-two (22) s rews.
Step 3 - Remove the side trim on the refrigerator and dis ard the trim and s rews.
Step 4 - Align the top of the flush mount side trim with the top of the unit's ma hine
ompartment. Using the s rews in luded in the hardware kit, atta h the side trim to the unit,
only using the holes visible through the side trim. Note: Do not use the s rew holes in the
ma hine ompartment.

Remove 4 side s rews and remove unit top. Loosen the 4 hinge s rews. Adjust door.
Retighten 4 hinge s rews.
Repla e unit top. Repla e 4 side s rews.
Atta h a single 2 x 4 to wall stud (refer to dimensions

If needed, depending on abinet and depth,
