Introduction
Thank you for purchasing this digital video recorder. Everything you need to take quality digital
photos and videos is included with your camera.
Vivitar makes capturing those special moments as easy as possible.
Please read this manual carefully first in order to get the most out of your digital camera.
Note:
Your digital video recorder supports an SD Memory Card (up to 32GB).
In order to use your digital video recorder normally, it is strongly recommended to
insert an SDHC Class 4 or above SD Memory card before use.
SD Memory cards are not included and need to be purchased separately.

When powering the digital video recorder ON for the first time the digital video recorder will
take you through the initial setup.
Powering the Digital video recorder ON
1) Batteries
Make sure the batteries have been inserted
properly into your digital video recorder, according
to the polarity shown inside the battery
compartment.
Use 4 x AAA (1.5v) batteries. Alkaline batteries
are recommended. (Batteries not included.)
Note:
Remove the batteries from the camera when not in use for an extended period.
Do not mix alkaline and non-alkaline batteries.
Some camera features (Flash) will not work if the battery power level is low.
When the battery power is low the battery icon turns red and the camera will
automatically turn off a few seconds later.
The energy status of the power is displayed on LCD as shown below:
Full battery power Medium battery power Low battery power
2) SD Card
Make sure an SDHC card has been properly inserted
into your camera. (SDHC card not included.)
To properly insert the SD Card:
- Push the SD card into the slot in the direction shown on
the digital video recorder (see SD icon by the SD card
slot).
- Push the SD card until you hear a slight clicking sound.
This indicates the SD card has been inserted correctly.
- If you captured images with the internal memory, a „Move to Card” message will appear

on the LCD screen. Select „Yes‟ and press the OK/LED button on the control joystick to
move the images to the SD Memory card inserted.
Note: Images captured in internal memory will be erased when the camera powers off if
they are not saved.
Note:
After the digital video recorder is powered on, an SD icon will appear on the LCD display,
indicating that the SD memory card has been successfully installed. The captured images
are then stored on the SD card and not in the limited internal memory. If you do not see the
SD icon on the display, please check if the card was inserted properly.
Make sure the SD card is not locked (check the lock switch on the side of the SD card). If the
SD card is locked this will prevent the camerafromsavingcaptured photos to the SD card.
Formatting will delete all data on the SD Memory Card including protected data.
Do not remove the SD memory Card during formatting as this may damage the card and
render it unusable.
3) Power On
Flip open the LCD screen and press the POWER button , located on the inside wall, to
turn on the digital video recorder.

Main Camera Modes
Your camera has different modes for the various camera functions.
You can switch modes by turning the MODE Dial on your camera after the camera has been
powered ON.
Video Capture Mode
Use this mode to capture videos with your digital video recorder.
Turn the MODE Dial to the icon to open the Video Capture Mode.
To take a video, aim your camera as desired and press the Video Shutter/Record
button to start the record. A red record indicator will appear on the LCD screen while
record is in progress. To stop the record, press the Video Shutter/Record button
again. The video will be automatically saved to your camera‟s memory card.
To access the various menus for the Video Capture mode, press the MENU button
while in the Video Capture mode.
Photo Capture Mode
Use this mode to capture pictures with your camera.
Turn the MODE Dial to the icon to open the Photo Capture mode.
To take a picture, aim your camera as desired and press the Photo Shutter button.
The picture will be automatically saved to your camera‟s memory card.
To access the various menus for the Photo Capture mode, press the MENU button
while in the Photo Capture mode.
Playback Mode (Photos & Videos)
Use this mode to view and manage the photos and videos on your camera.
Press the Playback button to open the Playback mode for photos and videos. You can
scroll through the photos and videos that you‟ve previously taken to view, edit or delete
them as desired. To access the various menus for the Playback mode for photos and
videos, press the MENU button while in the Playback mode.
