Overview
VIVOTEK’s FD8366-V is a compact 2-megapixel IR dome network camera equipped to
provide 30 frames per second at H.264 compression. With IP66, IK10 and NEMA 4X-rated
rugged design, the camera will withstand shocks, vibration, humidity, dust, and even
extreme temperature uctuations to maintain stable and reliable video no matter how harsh
the environment.
Armed with built-in IR illumination, the FD8366-V delivers superior image quality for up
to 15 meters in total darkness. This all-in-one camera meets a diverse array of needs for
outdoor surveillance applications, from retail stores to health care facilities.
Employing VIVOTEK’s Smart Stream II technology, the FD8366-V can reduce both
bandwidth and storage consumption by up to 50%* while maintaining high standards
of image quality. Power over Ethernet (PoE) functionality means the camera can be
operated and powered via a single Ethernet cable, allowing greater ease, and lower cost,
of installation. Further, in order to facilitate on-board storage, data portability, and localized
backup, the camera is equipped with a MicroSD/SDHC/SDXC card slot for local recording.*

Read Before Use
The use of surveillance devices may be prohibited by law in your country. The Network Camera
is not only a high-performance web-ready camera but can also be part of a exible surveillance
system. It is the user’s responsibility to ensure that the operation of such devices is legal before
installing this unit for its intended use.
It is important to first verify that all contents received are complete according to the Package
Contents listed below. Take note of the warnings in the Quick Installation Guide before the Network
Camera is installed; then carefully read and follow the instructions in the Installation chapter to
avoid damage due to faulty assembly and installation. This also ensures the product is used
properly as intended.
The Network Camera is a network device and its use should be straightforward for those who
have basic networking knowledge. It is designed for various applications including video sharing,
general security/surveillance, etc. The Configuration chapter suggests ways to best utilize the
Network Camera and ensure proper operations. For creative and professional developers, the URL
Commands of the Network Camera section serves as a helpful reference to customizing existing
homepages or integrating with the current web server.

1.Jot down the camera's MAC address for later reference.
2.Open the dome cover using a T10 star driver. Keep the dome cover for later use.

3. If using the optional combo cable, the DI wires and Ethernet cable are pre-congured
with a waterproof rubber seal. If preferred, connect the DI pins to external sensor
devices.
4. Attach the alignment sticker to a preferred location. Aim the shooting direction on the
sticker at a direction you prefer. Drill holes on the wall or ceiling to install the plastic
anchors. Anchors may not be necessary for installation on different materials.

7. Insert the Ethernet cable through the rubber seal. Strip part of the sheath from the
Ethernet cable.

8. Install the rubber seal plug to the cabling hole on the camera. Make sure the top section
of the seal plug is ush with the top of the cabling hole.

Leave 10cm of Ethernet cable in length from the top of the seal plug, and secure the
position with the cable tie. Cut the excessive part of the cable tie when done.

9. You will need an RJ45 crimping tool to attach the Ethernet wires to a connector.
10. When done, connect the cable to the camera's RJ45 socket.

11. Install the camera to wall or ceilling by driving the 4 M3 screws.
12. Connect the Ethernet cabel to a PoE mid-span or switch. Use the Shepherd utility
to locate the camera, and open a web console with it. Note that the camera can be
powered by an A type PoE device.

Forceful Password Conguration
13. The first time you log in to the camera, the firmware will prompt for a password
conguration for security concerns.
13-1. Since your camera is used for the rst time, there is no password. Enter “root” as the
user name, and nothting for the password.
13-2. Enter the combination of alphabetic and numeric characters to fulll the password
strength. requirement. The default name for the camera administrator is “root”, and
can not be changed.

13-3. Some, but not all special ASCII characters are supported: !, $, %, -, ., @, ^, _, and ~.
You can use them in the password combination.
13-4. Another prompt will request for the password you configured. Enter the password
and then you can start congure your camera and see the live view.

14. With a live video, you can adjust the camera lens tilt angle. When satised with the
shooting angle, tighten the tilt retention screws.

If the camera is installed on a vertical surface, e.g., on the side of a building, you
can use the Rotation function to change the orientation of video. A camera may
need to cover a long, narrow view.

bag to the inside of the dome cover.

Hardware Reset
The reset button is used to reset the system or restore the factory default settings.
Sometimes resetting the system can return the camera to normal operation. If the system
problems remain after reset, restore the factory settings and install again.
Reset: Press the recessed reset button. Wait for the Network Camera to reboot.
Restore: Press and hold the reset button until the status LED rapidly blinks. Note that all
settings will be restored to factory default. Upon successful restore, the status LED will
blink green and red during normal operation.
SD/SDHC/SDXC Card Capacity
This network camera is compliant with SD/SDHC/SDXC 16GB / 8GB / 32GB / 64GB and
other preceding standard SD cards.

Network Deployment
General Connection (PoE)
When using a PoE-enabled switch
The Network Camera is PoE-compliant, allowing transmission of power and data via a sin-
gle Ethernet cable. Follow the below illustration to connect the Network Camera to a PoE-
enabled switch via Ethernet cable.

Use a PoE power injector (optional) to connect between the Network Camera and a non-
PoE switch.

NOTE:
1. The camera is only to be connected to PoE networks without routing to outside plants.
2. For PoE connection, use only UL listed I.T.E. with PoE output.
