The purpo e of thi guide it to provide a brief overview of the Watcher XL Plu , XL Plu Mini,
and XL Plu Xtreme model NVR . For a more in-depth approach to variou etup and u ability

Initial Setup
Once you have received your new Watcher XL Plu NVR remove the y tem from the box and follow
the diagram along with the IP Camera Setup Guide for etting up your particular y tem.

To begin acce ing your XL Plu , there i a default u er name and pa word to unlock the y tem:
User name: a min
Passwor : a min
Network Configuration
To configure the network etting go to ( ) for “Setting ” at the bottom of the creen. Then,
from the left elect “Network Setting ”. The Network Adapter corre pond to the labeled port on the
back. Your location network hould be number 1 and the camera network hould be on number 2.
Configure adapter 1 with ythe IP etting for your network. Adapter 2 can be left a 192.168.4.100 or
changed to a cheme of your choice for the camera .

Basic Overview
1. Live Preview Screen – Di play live video from elected device
2. Split View Button – Allow you to elect how many live creen are di played
3. Settings Button – Open the “Setting ” menu
4. Playback Button – Open Playback for viewing and backing up recorded video
5. Group View&Settings Button – Open di play group etting
6. Manual Recor Button – Thi will turn on/off manual recording for all camera connected
7. Capture Image Button – Thi will take a nap hot image of the currently elected camera and ave
it to the pecified location in Sy tem Setting . The e can be viewed in playback.
8. Channel Setting Button – Open the camera etting menu
9. A Device Button – U e thi to add a new camera to the y tem
10. System Lock Button – Lock the y tem and prompt for a u ername and pa word
11. Power Button – Shutdown or re tart the y tem
12. Log Info Panel – Detailed log of operation
13. Info Panel – Give you detail on CPU u age, time/date, and HDD tatu .

Display Groups
To populate the window with connected camera , imply drag a camera from the Device Li t
over to the window of your choo ing. Continue to do thi for each camera on the li t that you would
like to preview. To rearrange the live preview window , ju t left-click the de ired window to move,
hold the mou e button down, and drag the window to the new de ired location.
Setting up Display Groups from Live View:
After rearranging the camera window how you want them, to ave the configuration right-click
anywhere on the live preview window and go to “Group View & Setting” → “Save the Current View
a ” then elect which group number to ave it a .
Using Preview Group Setting Menu Option:
Click the Group View/Setting Button on the live preview creen and elect Preview Group
Setting. It will bring up thi window.

1. Device List – Di play all connected Device
2. Preview Group – U ed to a ign a group number
3. Group Name – Per onalize your group with a name.
4. Win ow View – Allocate the number of window in the di play group
5. System Start Group – Set the current group to open on tart-up
6. Win ow Layout Screen – Thi i the layout of the window and how they will look during live
preview. In each window, you can add multiple camera and have them rotate on a time interval. To et
the time interval, u e the Interval option (within each window) and et it to the de ired delay time to
how each camera image. (For in tance, an interval of 30 will di play each camera feed for 30 econd
before witching to the next one on the li t for that window)
7. Stream Type – Thi will change the default tream type when adding camera to the di play group.
It i recommended to not u e main tream on more than 9 camera when u ing live preview. Thi can
al o be done on an individual window ba i by u ing the tream type option in each window. Thi ,
however, doe not affect video recording. All recor ings will be in main stream. For any number of
camera over 9, plea e u e the ub tream for live preview. Thi al o doe not affect ingle window
view mode. If you double-click on a camera in live preview, it will go to a ingle view mode and witch
to main- tream if in ub- tream
8. Save & Exit – Save and exit the group etting
You can view your di play group by right-clicking on the Live View creen → left-click Group View
& Setting → left-click the group that you would like to ee.
Playback
To review and backup recorded video, enter playback at the bottom of the main creen ( ).
Thi will bring you to the playback creen. Here you can view recorded video, ave picture , and
backup to CD or USB drive. To play video ju t elect a date on the right hand ide then double-click a
time and camera on the time line at the bottom to tart playing.

1. Date Select – Select the date you would like to view
2. Device List – Double click a line and time you would like to play
3. View Select – Select the number of window you want up
4. Play All Cameras – Play all camera at time elected
5. Close All Cameras – Stop and clo e all camera
6. Play – Play the elected camera
7. Stop – Stop the elected camera
8. Next Frame – Goe to the next frame of elected camera
9. Backup – Allow you to backup recorded video to USB or CD/DVD
10. Screen Shot - Save a creen hot of the elected video
11. Search Images - View all creen hot
12. DST Playback – Will not be u ed
13. ICON Search – Open the icon earch to view a time interval on one camera
14. Play Spee – Speed up or low down the video. Click the button to the left for normal peed
15. Exit – Exit Playback
Backup
To backup video data you will fir t need to in ert a CD/DVD or USB drive into the y tem.
Then go to playback ( ). Find the date time and which camera you would like to backup and write
thi down. Then enter the backup ( ).
At the top elect your begin time/date and
end time/date. Select your camera from
the device li t on the right. If you have
multiple camera from the ame time/date
you may elect them. If you have different
camera at different date /time you will
need to do them eparately. Once the
date/time and camera are elected, hit the
check button at the bottom. Thi will tell
you the file ize in the “Backup Data Size”.
Selecting the “Unite” ize will break the
video into egment of the ize pecified.
If you are backing up to USB ju t hit the
Backup button. If burning to a CD/DVD
Check the box for burn to and elect DVD.
A blue bar will go acro the bottom. Once it i fini hed wait 5 econd and hit “Remove USB”. Wait
another 5 econd and take the USB out of the y tem. You can now play the video from any computer
that will play .AVI video file .
Images
To ave a picture to USB or CD/DVD click Search Images ( ). In here you can elect which
camera the image i from and either elect to copy all the image or ju t individually. Once you have
decided which image you want hit Copy or Copy All. The oftware will only copy image to USB
drive . To ave to a CD/DVD either tran fer to another computer u ing the USB or call Watcher
Technical Support.
