Thank you for yourpurchase of a state of the artWatts Premier Reverse Osmosis (RO) watertreatment system.Water
quality concerns are becoming more of a focus for the public. You may have heard about contaminants in the drinking water
such as Arsenic, Perchlorate, Chromium, Cryptosporidium or Giardia. There may also be some local water issues such as
high levels of Lead and Copper. This Watts Premier water treatment system has been designed and tested to provide you
with high quality drinking water for years to come. The following is a brief overview of the system.
Your Reverse Osmosis System:
Osmosis is the process of water passing through a semi permeable membrane in order to balance the concentration of
contaminants on each side of the membrane. A semi permeable membrane is a barrier that will pass only certain particles
like clean drinking water, but not other particles like arsenic and lead.
Reverse osmosis uses a semi permeable membrane; however, by applying pressure across the membrane, it concentrates
contaminants (like a strainer) on one side of the membrane, producing crystal clear water on the other. This is why RO
systems produce both clean drinking water and rinse water that is ushed from the system. This reverse osmosis system also
utilizes carbon block ltration technology, and can therefore provide a higher quality drinking water than carbon ltration
systems alone.
Your system is a four stage RO which is based upon separate treatment segments within the one complete water ltration
system. These stages are as follows:
Stage 1 – Sediment lter, recommended change 6 months.
The rst stage of your RO system is a ve micron sediment lter that traps sediment and other particulate matter
like dirt, silt and rust which affect the taste and appearance of your water.
Stage 2 – Carbon lter, recommended change 6 months.
The second stage contains a 5 micron carbon block lter. This helps ensure that chlorine and other materials that
cause bad taste and odor are greatly reduced.
Stage 3- Membrane, recommended change 2-5 years.
Stage three is the heart of the reverse osmosis system, the 50GPD (Gallons Per Day) RO membrane. This semi
permeable membrane will effectively remove TDS, Sodium and a wide range of contaminants such as Percholate,
Chromium, Arsenic, Copper, Lead as well as Cysts, such as Giardia and Cryptosporidium. Because the process of
extracting this high quality drinking water takes time, your RO water treatment system is equipped with a storage tank.
Stage 4- Carbon post lter, recommend change 12 months.
The nal stage is a high quality carbon lter. Drinking water enters this lter after the water storage tank and it is
used as a nal polishing lter.
Note: Filter & Membrane life may vary based upon local water conditions and/or use patterns.
System Maintenance
Just because you can not taste it, does not mean that it is not there. Contaminants such as Lead, Chromium and Arsenic are
undetectable to the taste. Additionally, over time if you do not replace the lter elements, other bad tastes and odors will
be apparent in your drinking water.
It is important to change out your lters at the recommended intervals as indicated in this system manual. When replacing
the lter elements, pay special attention to any cleaning instructions. Should you have any further questions please refer to

Contents of Reverse Osmosis (RO) System
* Note: RO unit must be installed a minimum of 25 Pipe feet from water heater *
Installation must comply with State and local plumbing regulations. Do not use with water that is micro
biologically unsafe or of unknown quality without adequate disinfection before or after the system.
System is intended to be installed using the cold water supply only.

Hardness: Recommended hardness not to exceed 10 grains per gallon, or 170 parts per million.
* System will operate with hardness over 10 grains but the membrane life may be shortened.
Addition of a water softener may lengthen the membrane life.
Copper Tube: Reverse Osmosis water should not be run through copper tube as the purity of the
water will leach copper causing an objectional taste in water and pin holes may form in the tube.
Water Pressure: The operating water pressure in your home should be tested over a 24 hour
period to attain the maximum pressure. If the incoming water pressure is above 100 psi then a
water pressure regulator is required. A booster pump is needed for incoming water pressure
under 40psi.

Not recommended for use on homes equipped with tankless water heaters. Contact Watts Premier for
specic details regarding this unit and tankless water heaters.
System was tested in a laboratory setting utilizing a hot water heater of 40 gallons set at 120º F.
Performance may vary if your heater is smaller than 40 gallons or set above 120º F, contact the
manufacturer for additional details.
System should not be used on homes equipped with a backow prevention on the hot water heater.
This device is 100% efcient, as no water is lost to drain in the production of the RO water.

After drilling, remove all sharp edges and make sure the surroundings
of the sink are cooled before mounting the faucet.

Step 4
Determine desired location for the RO faucet on your sink and place
a piece of masking tape over where the hole is to be drilled. Mark the
center of the hole on the tape.
Step 1
Using a variable speed drill set on the slowest speed, drill a 1/8“ pilot
hole through both porcelain and metal casing of sink at the marked
center of the desired location. Use lubricating oil or liquid soap to keep
the drill bit cool (If drill bit gets hot it may cause the porcelain to crack
or chip).
Using a 1 ¼” diamond tip hole saw, proceed to drill the large hole. Keep
drill speed on the slowest speed and use lubricating oil or liquid soap
to keep the hole saw cool during cutting.

Counter Top / Porcelain & Stainless Steel Sink
Note: Most sinks are pre drilled with 1 ¼” diameter hole that you can use for your RO faucet.
(If you are already using it for a sprayer or soap dispenser, see step 1)
Porcelain sinks are extremely hard and can crack or chip easily.
Use extreme caution when drilling. Watts accepts no responsibility for
damage resulting from the installation of faucet. Diamond tip bit recommended.
Marble Counter-top
We recommend contacting a qualied contractor for drilling a hole in a marble counter-top.
Drill a Hole for the Reverse Osmosis Faucet
How to use the Quick Connect Fittings
To make a connection, the tube is simply pushed into the tting. The unique locking system holds the tube rmly in place
without deforming it or restricting ow. Use the steps below in reference to any quick connect tube connections.
It is essential that the outside diameter be free of score
marksandthatburrs and sharp edges beremovedbefore
inserting into tting.
Fitting grips before it seals. Ensure tube is pushed into
the tube stop.
Push the tube into the tting, to the tube stop. The collet
(gripper) has stainless steel teeth which hold the tube
rmly in position while the O-ring provides a permanent
leak proof seal.
Pullon thetubeto checkthat itissecure. Itisa goodpractice
to test the system prior to leaving site and /or before use.
To disconnect, ensure the system is
depressurized before removing the tube. Push in the col-
lect squarely against face of tting. With the collet held
in this position, the tube can be removed. The tting can
then be reused.

Place the escutcheon chrome plate and the
black rubber washer on the faucet shank.
(Parts found in faucet parts bag).
From the underside of the sink, slide on the
locating washer, lock washer and brass
nut onto the shank. Check orientation of
faucet then tighten brass nut securely.

Connecting to the Faucet
Step 8 Locate the blue 1/4” tube attached to the RO module labeled
“Faucet”. Remove a brass nut, plastic sleeve and brass insert from
the parts bag. To assemble, place the brass nut on the blue tube
rst, then the sleeve (small tapered end of sleeve must point to the
end of tube) and then push the brass insert all the way into the end
of the tube. (See Picture)
Insert the blue tube into the end of the faucet shank and use a
wrench to tighten the brass nut securely.

This faucet provides an electronic monitor
that will tell you when it is time to replace
the lters in your water treatment device.
The light indicator on the handle will ash
blue for the life of the lter, turning red
once the life of the lter has been reached.
This can occur after six months of use, or
sooner for heavy water usage. The battery
life is expected to last one year, however,
under heavy use the battery may need
to be replaced sooner. For replacement,
look for battery number CR2032 (Watts
p/n:116080) which should be available at
your local battery store or contact Premier
at 800-752-5582. You may also order online

Water supply line to the system must be from the cold water supply line only. Hot water
connection is used for rinse water return and must be connected for system to function correctly.

Verify contents prior to installation:

Make sure that the black collet is installed in to the 1/4” opening on the Adapt-a-valve.
Don’t forget to install the white compression washer with the 3/8” conguration.

Connect the Green and Red Tubing
Step 13 In the parts bag locate the 1/4” green tubing. Insert one open end of the green 1/4” tube into
the open 1/4” quick connect tting on the COLD water feed adapta-a-valve making sure the
tube is pushed in all the way to the tube stop. Repeat the procedure to connect red tubing
attached to the RO module to connect to the hot water, return adapt-a-valve.
Determine best location for the RO module to be mounted to allow
for future system maintenance. Using the mounting holes on the
bracket, mark the location for the mounting screws on the cabinet
wall under the sink. In the parts bag, locate the two self tapping
screws. Using an electric drill with a Phillips bit, screw them into
thecabinetat themarked location.Hang the moduleon thescrews
using the mounting holes in the bracket

Blue Tube Connection (From RO System to ESOV - Electronic Shut-off Valve)
Insert the 1/4” blue tube from the RO System into the 1/4” open
union of the ESOV - pump side. Make sure the tube is pushed
in all the way to the tube stop.

In the parts bag, locate the 1/4” blue tubing. Insert one end of
the 1/4” blue tube into the open 1/4” union of the ESOV.
Green Tube Connection (From Adapt-a-Valve to Pump)
Insert the open end 1/4” green tube from theAdapt-a-Valve into
the 1/4” open end of the booster pump quick connect union.
Make sure the tube is pushed in all the way to the tube stop.

Insert the 1/4” green tube from the RO module into the 1/4”
open end of the ESOV assembly quick connect union. Make
sure the tube is pushed in all the way to the tube stop.

In the parts bag locate two 3/8” male stem adapters and insert them into the upper ports
on the ESOV as pictured in the photos below.

Blue Tube Connection (From The ESOV To TANK)
Position tank in desired location, stand it upright or lay it on its
side (using the black plastic stand included). Insert the blue 1/4”
tube from the ESOV into the quick connect tting on the tank ball
valve. Make sure the tube is pushed in all the way to the tube
stop (see page 9 for quick connect tting use directions).

Note: Set the blue ball valve knob in-line with the blue tube, this is the “open” position.
Teon tape must be applied in a clockwise direction. Wrap
(7 to 12 turns) around the male pipe threads (MPT) on the
stainless steel tting on top of the tank.

Thread the quick connect ball valve (supplied in the parts bag)
onto the stainless steel connector on the tank.
Note: Do not over-tighten plastic connections.

Congratulations!
You have completed the installation of your new Reverse Osmosis system.
Please Follow the Startup Instructions.
Flushing of the tank 3 times is only necessary during the initial startup and after replacing
the membrane.
Note:
Start up Instructions
Step 1 Turn on the incoming hot and cold water angle stop valves.
Turn both of the adapt-a-valves on and check the system for leaks and tighten ttings
as necessary.
Note: Check daily over the next week
to ensure no leaks are present.
Step 2 Plug the (24 volt) transformer
power cord connector into the
ESOV as pictured.
Step 3 Plug the transformer into the
electrical outlet under the sink.
Step 4 Ensure ball valve on tank is open.
Step 5 Open the RO faucet and leave it
open until water begins to drip.
Then close the faucet.
The tank will take between 2 - 4
hours to ll.
Note: If no water comes out of the RO
faucet after a few minutes check
the power outlet! It is possible that the power outlet you used for the RO unit
is controlled by the garbage disposal switch. To test - Unplug the garbage
disposal and ip the garbage disposal switch to “on” . If the RO pump turns on
and water starts to drip out of the RO faucet you will need to connect the system
to a different power outlet socket.
Step 6 After the tank has lled once, open the RO faucet and drain the tank.
Note: Water may be cloudy or milky due to air in the system and carbon particles ushing out
of the nal polishing lter. This condition will resolve itself after ushing a couple of
tanks of water.
Step 7 Complete step #6 two more times. The process of ushing the system rst three times
should take about one day to complete. The fourth tank can be used for drinking water.
Warning: To prevent the possibility of electrical shock, clean up any water on
cabinet oor and dry all water from outside of RO unit.

Place a towel under the RO module to catch any excess water that
may drip out from the lters during the changeover.
Step 1
Your RO module is equipped with valved heads which will automatically turn off the water supply to
each lter when the lter is released, thus you do not need to turn off the incoming water supply at the
Adapt-a-Valve. The RO faucet must be off when lters are replaced. To make the removal of the lter
cartridges easier, the heads & cartridges may be swiveled up to 90 degrees as shown in the pictures below.
Step 2
To install a lter cartridge: Remove the seal cap and insert
the cartridge into the valved head until you hear an audible “click”
(the button does not need to be pressed to install new lters).
Step 3
To remove a lter cartridge: Push & hold the button on the
valved head above the lter. Pull cartridge downward (from the
head) to remove. Release button and discard old lter.
Changing The Filter Cartridges
Membrane Replacement (2 - 5 Years)
√ One Membrane (50 GPD Green Label P/N: 105331)Replace:
Membranes have a life expectancy between 2 and 5 years, depending on the incoming water conditions
and the amount the RO system is used. This reverse osmosis membrane is critical for effective reduction of total
dissolved solids (TDS). The product water should be tested periodically to verify that the system is performing
satisfactorily.
Normally, a membrane would be replaced during a semiannual or annual lter change. However, if at any
time you notice a reduction in water production or an unpleasant taste in the reverse osmosis water, it could be
time to replace the membrane. Premier recommends replacing the membrane when TDS reduction falls below
75%.
A water sample may be sent to Premier for a free diagnosis of your membranes performance. To send
a water sample, use 2 clean containers and ll 1/2 cup of tap water in one container and 1/2 cup of RO water in
2nd container. Clearly label each sample. Send the samples to the address listed on the cover of this manual
attention “Water Samples”. Premier will test the water and mail or call you with the results.
To reset the electronic monitor during replacement of lters, simply
pry out the black rubber battery drawer from the faucet handle using
a at head screwdriver, wait a few moments and reinsert.
Note:
This reverse osmosis system contains a replaceable component (the RO membrane) which is critical to the
efciency of the system. Replacement of this reverse osmosis membrane should be with one of identical
specications as dened by Premier to assure the same efciency and contaminant reduction performance.

6 Month System Maintenance
Tip: This is a good time to check the air pressure in your storage
tank. For instructions please see page 14.
Flush rst tank full after completing the annual maintenance.

Annual Sanitization
Procedure for Extended Non-Use (More than 2 months)
Turn off the cold water supply to your RO system, unplug power transformer from electrical
outlet and open the RO faucet to drain the storage tank. Once the storage tank is empty,
remove all lter cartridges (order not important), place them into a sealed plastic bag and
store in your refrigerator.
To Restart System:
If you have connected your RO system to a refrigerator / ice maker, make sure the ice
maker is off (do not allow water to ow to the ice maker) until the tank has been allowed
to completely ll.
After the Tank has lled, open the RO Faucet to ush the tank completely. You will know that
the tank is empty when the ow rate from the RO faucet is down to a trickle. The second tank
can be used for drinking.
Open the RO faucet and leave it open until water begins to trickle out (it will come out
slowly).
Step 5
Turn on the cold water supply to your RO system. Plug in the transformer,
(Check frequently over the next 24 hours to ensure no leaks are present).

Close the RO faucet allowing the storage tank to ll with water. It may take 2 to 4 hours to
ll the tank completely depending on the production capability of the membrane, local water
temperature and water pressure.
Reinstall all lters on to the RO unit. Filters are color coded to match the lter heads they
snap in to. Refer to page 12 step three for cartridge installation procedure.

Turn off the water supply to your RO system, unplug transformer and
open the RO faucet to drain the storage tank.

Step 2 Disconnect the blue tube from the ball valve on the storage tank (see
page 6 for quick connect tting use instructions).
Sanitization procedure must be performed before a lter change.
Note:
Using a clean eye dropper insert ½ teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide or
common household bleach into the blue tube. This will ow into the
tank once water is turned back on to unit. Reattach blue tube to the
ball valve. Follow start up procedure and drain two full tanks of water.

Once all water in the tank is purged, check air pressure using an air pressure gauge, it
should read between 5 - 7 PSI. (Digital air pressure gauge is recommended) Pressurize
tank using a bicycle tire pump if low. Follow start-up procedure on page 11.
Check Air Pressure in the Tank

Check air pressure only when tank is empty of water!
Step 1 Turn off the cold water supply to the RO and unplug transformer.
Open the RO Faucet and allow water to drain from the tank until it is
completely empty.
Step 2
Check air pressure in the storage tank when you notice a decrease in available water from
the RO system. Air can be added with a bicycle pump using the schrader valve that is
located on the lower side of the tank behind a blue plastic cap.
Tip: When water from the RO faucet slows to a trickle, with the
faucet still in the open position, you may add air to the tank
to purge any left over water, this will ensure that the tank is
completely empty.

TROUBLE SHOOTING
Problem Cause Solution
1. Low/Slow Production Low Water Pressure Make sure water supply is turned on and Adapta
Valve is all the way open.
Crimps in tubing Check tubing and straighten or replace as necessary.
Clogged pre-lters Replace pre-lters.
Fouled membrane Replace membrane.
2. Milky colored Water Air in system Air in the system is a normal occurrence with initial
start up of the RO system. This milky look will
disappear during normal use within 1-2 weeks. If
condition reoccurs after lter change, drain tank 1 to 2
times.
3. Water constantly Low water pressure See #1 Above
running, unit will not
shut off Crimp in supply tube Check tubing and straighten or repair as necessary.
High water pressure Check incoming water pressure to make sure it does
not exceed 80 psi. A pressure relief valve may be
necessary.

GENERAL USE CONDITIONS:
1. System to be used with municipal or well water sources treated and tested on regular basis to insure bacteriological safe quality. DO NOT use with water that
is microbiologically unsafe or unknown quality without adequate disinfection before and after the system. Systems certied for cyst reduction may be used on
disinfected water that may contain lterable cysts.
2. This system is acceptable for treatment of inuent concentrations of no more than 27 mg/L nitrate and 3 mg/L nitrite in combination measured as N and
is certied for nitrite/nitrate reduction only for water supplies with a pressure of 280 kPa (40 psig) or greater. If your water supply is under 40 psi Premier
recommends the use of a RO booster pump for proper operation.

Arsenic (As) is a naturally occurring contaminant found in many ground waters. Arsenic in
water has no color, taste or odor. It must be measured by an arsenic test kit or lab test.
Public water utilities must have their water tested for arsenic. You can obtain the results from
your water utility contained with in your consumer condence report. If you have your own
well, you will need to have the water evaluated. The local health department or the state
environmental health agency can provide a list of test kits or certied labs.
There are two forms of arsenic: pentavalent arsenic (also calledAs (V),As (+5)) and trivalent
arsenic (also calledAs (III),As (+3)). In well water, arsenic may be pentavalent, trivalent, or a
combination of both.Although both forms of arsenic are potentially hazardous to your health,
trivalent arsenic is considered more harmful than pentavalent arsenic.
RO systems are very effective at removing pentavalent arsenic.Afree chlorine residual will
rapidly convert trivalent arsenic to pentavalent arsenic. Other water treatment chemicals
suchasozone and potassiumpermanganatewillalso changetrivalentarsenicto pentavalent
arsenic.Acombinedchlorine residual (also calledchloramine)whereitdoes convert trivalent
arsenic to pentavalent arsenic, may not convert all the trivalent arsenic in to pentavalent
arsenic. If you get your water from a public water utility, contact the utility to nd out if free
chlorine or combined chlorine is used in the water system.
ThisPremierreverseosmosissystem isdesignedtoremoveup to98%ofpentavalentarsenic.
It will not convert trivalent arsenic to pentavalent arsenic. Under laboratory standard testing
conditions, this system reduced 0.30 mg/L (ppm) pentavalent arsenic to under 0.010 mg/L
(ppm) (the USEPAstandard for drinking water).Actual performance of the system may vary
depending on specic water quality conditions at the consumer’s installation. In addition to
the independent laboratory standard testing conditions Premier has conducted additional
eld testing on our reverse osmosis units to determine trivalent arsenic reduction capabilities.
Based upon Premier eld testing, it has been determined that the RO units are capable of
reducing up to 67% of trivalent arsenic from the drinking water.
This reverse osmosis system contains a replaceable component critical to the efciency of
the system. Replacement of the reverse osmosis component should be with one of identical
specications, as dened by the manufacturer, to ensure the same efciency and contaminant
