1Introduction
Purpose
This document defines the functional requirements for the Cashier/Despatcher.
Scope
This document defines the functionality of the TGX150 Cashier/Despatcher configured for the
RSA market. It covers the Cashier/Despatcher and Man Machine Interface (MMI) and typically
represents the screen layouts encountered during each aspect of the Cash-In and Despatching
functionality on the Electronic Ticket Machine. The functionality described here-in is based on
the Wayfarer Mk3c AFC System adapted for the TGX150 System. The Wayfarer Mk3c is module
based thus the combination of the Depot Reader and Module served the Cashier Despatcher
functions.

This document is intended for use by staff of the bus company.

1.6.2 Terms
The following terms will be used throughout this document:
Bus Working The time during which a Driver is sign-on to an ETM while operating a
bus.
Duty See Bus Working.
Stage A point within a Route.
Route An ordered list of stages defining one single path through the road
network.
Operator SC Operator Smart Card: used to sign-on to the ETM.
Provided that the operator signs-off the ETM correctly, operator smart
cards also carry the cash and annul totals from ETM to ETM thus ensuring
that the driver sign-off receipt always shows the total cash that the
driver should pay in.
Supervisor SC Supervisor smart card: Special Operator SC used by authorised operators
to perform special tasks and get access to the ETM’s Supervisor Menu.
POS ETM ETM used for the purpose of Point of Sale
Seller The person that operates the POS
Cashier ETM ETM used for the purpose of collecting cash and despatching Driver and
Sellers
Cashier The person that operates the Cashier ETM
Despatcher The person that operates the Cashier ETM for the purpose of
Despatching
Despatcher ETM see Cashier ETM. Both functions can be done on the same ETM
Driver ETM ETM used by the driver on bus
Driver The person that operates the Driver ETM
Her/She/He/His/Her’s Refers to a natural person of any gender
ENTER Oval button on the bottom right of the ETM

2System Description
Overview
The Cashier/Despatcher functionality as discussed in this document comprises the following:
TGX150 Electronic Ticketing Machine (ETM) with an integrated smart card reader (SCR),
passenger display, and thermal printer.
Smart Cards –Cashier, Supervisor, Driver, Seller
The main function of the Cashier/Despatcher is to receive cash from Drivers and Sellers, and to
Despatch (or enable) Driver SCs and Seller SCs to sign-on to Driver ETMs and Seller ETMs.
The functionality described here-in is based on the Wayfarer Mk3c AFC System adapted for the
TGX150 System. The Wayfarer Mk3c is module based thus the combination of the Depot Reader
and Module served the Cashier Despatcher functions.

screen layouts are indicative only.
the colours used in screens do not reflect the colours that will be displayed on the
ETM.
any fares shown in this document are examples to provide an indication of how the
screens will appear and are for illustrative purposes only.
All screens will show “smart card” as two words with no capitalisation. This document
may show the wording as otherwise but it will probably be due to MS Word applying
the wrong formatting.

3Cashier Functions
Sign-on
The Cashier will sign-on to the Cashier/Despatcher ETM by presenting their Cashier SC. The
Cashier number is populated with the Operator ID from the Cashier SC. The Cashier will enter the
PIN via the numeric keypad and select the location by scrolling Up or Down with the arrow keys.
Screen 1: Sign-in
Once signed-on the following screen will be displayed.
Screen 2: Awaiting SC
The Cashier SC is allowed to sign on only one Cashier ETM in a session. This prevents the Cashier
from being signed-on to multiple Cashier ETMs at the same time.

Cash-In Driver SCs
If the Driver SC that has been signed-off on a Driver ETM is presented to the Cashier ETM, the
following will be displayed.
Screen 3: Driver Cash-in screen
The Cashier will collect the cash from the Driver and enter the cash amount collected via the
keypad in cents.
Screen 4: Cash Collection
The Driver is allowed to pay in Short or Over the Revenue cash.

Driver Despatch
If the Driver SC is presented to the Cashier ETM once again, the following screen is displayed.
Screen 6: Driver Despatch screen
The Cashier will choose Despatch by pressing the associated button. The Driver card is then
Despatched which allows the Driver to sign-on to any Driver ETM.
Cash-In Seller SCs
If the Seller SC that has been signed-off on a POS ETM is presented to the Cashier ETM, the
following will be displayed.

Presenting the Supervisor SC on a signed-on Cashier ETM will put the ETM in Supervisor Mode bringing up
the prompt for the Supervisor to input his/her PIN.

If the Supervisor Selects Manual Cash In, the Screen 13 is displayed, allowing the Supervisor to Enter
Seller/Driver/Cashier Cash-in information manually via the keyboard. The fields Staff ID, Revenue Due
and Cash Paid In are manually populated by the Supervisor. Shorts and Overs are allowed.

On screen 12, if the Supervisor selects Driver/Seller Despatch the below Screen is displayed.

When the Driver or Seller SC is presented that has not been signed-off, the below screen will be
displayed.
Screen 15: Seller Despatch screen
The Supervisor will choose Despatch by pressing the associated button. The Driver or Seller SC
presented on the Cashier ETM is then Despatched which allows the Driver or Seller to sign-on to
an ETM.
After the Despatch process “Please remove card” is displayed.
Once the smart card is removed Screen 12 is displayed.
While on Screen 12, the Supervisor may select Sign-off Supervisor which exits supervisor mode,
and reverts to screen 2.

Different Cashier SC sign-off
The Cashier ETM needs to be signed-off with the same Cashier SC that it was sign-on with. The
Cashier ETM will not allow another Cashier SC to sign off.
Supervisor Sign-off
In the absence of the signed-on Cashier SC, the Supervisor will sign-off the Cashier ETM as
described in 3.6

5Menu
The Cashier presses the Menu button to display the following menu with associated functions.

Communication Trigger
If the Cashier ETM is signed-off, the Cashier may initiate the communication to the Back Office
by pressing *ENTER.
Supervisor Menu
If the Cashier ETM is signed-off, presenting the Supervisor SC will display Screen 11 prompting for
the PIN. On entering a valid PIN, the following Screen with associated Supervisor Menus will be
displayed. The Supervisor is also able to enter into this menu by entering the Supervisor Number
and PIN.
