1.3 Function
1.3.1 OXYWAY Fix I, Fix III setup
The oxygen from the oxygen cylinder enters the pressure reducer
through the connecting bolt with hand-screwed connection and
2 filters in series. When the cylinder valve is open, the cylinder pressure
in the pressure reducer is reduced by a piston with spring to 0.5 bar
to 6 bar depending on the device type.
The cylinder pressure can be read off at the contents indicator.
The pressure reducer is protected against excessive pressure by
a safety valve.

OXYWAY EN 11
Introduction
The oxygen from the oxygen cylinder enters the pressure reducer
through the connecting bolt with hand-screwed connection and
2 filters in series.
When the cylinder valve is open, the cylinder pressure in the pressure
reducer is reduced by a piston with spring to 6 bar.
With multistep pressure reducers OXYWAY Fast I and OXYWAY Fast II,
there is an orifice plate with various orifice diameters in the multistep
flow selector. The orifice diameter is adjusted using the multistep flow
selector. Different inhalation values are output via the inhalation outlet
depending on the setting of the multistep flow selector.
The cylinder pressure can be read off at the contents indicator.
The pressure reducer is protected against excessive pressure by a safety
valve.
OXYWAY Fast II has a pressure outlet as well as the inhalation outlet.
It is not permitted to operate both outlets at the same time.
1.3.3 OXYWAY Fine I setup
The oxygen from the oxygen cylinder enters the pressure reducer
through the connecting bolt with hand-screwed connection and
2 filters in series.
When the cylinder valve is open, the cylinder pressure in the pressure
reducer is reduced by a piston with spring to 7 bar.

WM 66611 07/2021
Introduction
The piston is acted on by a second spring which is adjustable by means
of a spindle system and which therefore generates different rated
outlet pressures. This means that the flow can be variably adjusted in
connection with the nozzle plate in the inhalation outlet. The adjusted
flow is read off at the flow indicator.
The pressure reducer is protected against excessive pressure by a safety
valve.
1.3.4 OXYWAY Click setup
During operation, the oxygen enters the housing from the central gas
supply system via the O2sampling point on the pressure reducer with
a pressure of 4.5 bar.
With OXYWAY Click, there is an orifice plate with various orifice
diameters in the multistep flow selector. The orifice diameter is
adjusted using the multistep flow selector. Different inhalation values
are output via the inhalation outlet depending on the setting of the
multistep flow selector.

Safety
2 Safety
2.1 Safety information in this service
manual
2.2 Basic hazards
2.2.1 Risk of injury from misuse or damage to device
from failure to observe the information in this
service manual
Intended use includes compliance with all the information in this
service manual! Any usage which goes beyond or which is in
contradiction to the intended use shall be regarded as misuse.
Failure to observe the information in this service manual and in the
instructions for use can result in incorrect operation of or damage to
the device and may result in serious injury or death for the patient,
user or bystanders.
Note the safety information in the instructions for use and the
service manual.
Observe all chapters in the instructions for use and the service
manual.
Never perform any work on the pressure reducer other than that
which is described here.
Never make construction changes to the pressure reducer.
Only use original accessories and spare parts.
2.2.2 Preventing pressure hammer
Pressure hammer can cause the pressure reducer to spontaneously
combust.
Open the valve of the oxygen cylinder slowly.
If possible, set the inhalation flow to 0after operation.
Danger!
DANGER indicates a hazardous situation that, if not avoided,
will result in death or serious injury.
Warning!
WARNING indicates a hazardous situation that, if not avoided,
could result in death or serious injury.
Caution!
CAUTION indicates a hazardous situation that, if not avoided,
could result in minor or moderate injury.
Notice!
NOTICE indicates information considered important, but not
hazard-related (e.g., messages related to damage to property or
the environment).
Designates useful tips relating to a particular action.

Safety
2.2.3 Avoiding uncontrolled oxygen administration
Not all outlets have a check valve which closes the outlets automatically
when a connection hose (pressure outlet) or inhalation accessories
(inhalation outlet) are removed. As a result, oxygen can escape
unchecked and raise the oxygen content of the immediate
surroundings. This can lead to a fire if ventilation is inadequate.
Close the oxygen cylinder when changing the device.
Vent the system.
2.2.4 Avoiding the use of oxygen in combination with
combustible substances
The combination of oxygen and combustible substances may lead to
spontaneous, serious fires. Where ventilation is inadequate, oxygen
may build up in the environment (e.g., clothing, hair, bed linen) and
cause fires and thereby injuries to the patient, user and bystanders.
Do not smoke.
Do not use open flames.
Ensure adequate ventilation.
Keep the device and all the screwed unions completely free from oil
and grease.
Do not immerse the device in a disinfectant or any other cleaning
solution.
Wash your hands before working on the oxygen supply.
Do not point the oxygen cylinder connection towards yourself
or anyone else.
2.2.5 Risk of injury from highly compressed oxygen
When combined with highly compressed oxygen, hydrocarbon
compounds can cause explosions.
Wash your hands before handling the pressure reducer and
the oxygen cylinder.
Do not use any oil, grease, cleaning alcohols, hand cream or
adhesive plasters.
2.2.6 Preventing the escape of oxygen from damaged
oxygen cylinders or pressure reducers
Oxygen can escape unchecked from damaged oxygen cylinders or
pressure reducers. This may lead to explosions and cause injury to
the patient, user and bystanders.
Tighten or loosen all screwed unions on the oxygen cylinder and
on the pressure reducer by hand only. If necessary, use a wrench
suitable for pin index oxygen cylinders.
Secure the oxygen cylinder so that it cannot fall over.
