2. Description
2.1 Purpose
With the “Re-usable Canister“ conversion set
you can convert the ACCUVAC
®
aspirator to
use re-usable canister instead of the dispos-
able canister.
2.2 Function
The re-usable collection canister is fixed to the
side of the motor unit and directly connected
to the suction port of the motor unit. There is
thus no need for an intermediate tube.
A replaceable hydrophobic bacteria filter

in
the secretion cover

prevents bacteria and
droplets of moisture from finding their way into
the motor unit and passing into the environ-
ment via the muffler.
The bacteria filter

is designed for multiple re-
use and sterilisation.
Important: Do not immerse the bacteria filter
3
in disinfectant liquid, as this adversely
affects its hydrophobic properties.
An overfill system prevents secretions from
entering the motor unit. The ball

floats on the
surface of the secretion until it blocks the exit.

Ce kit de transformation permet d´équiper
d´un bocal réutilisable une pompe
ACCUVAC
®
munie jusqu´alors d´un bocal de
recueil pour sachets à usage unique.
2.2 Description du
fonctionnement
Le bocal de recueil réutilisable est fixé
latéralement et emboîté directement sur la
tubulure d’aspiration du groupe moteur, ce
qui permet d’éviter l’emploi d’un tuyau
intermédiaire.
Un filtre à bactéries hydrophobe amovible

placé dans le bouchon

empêche la
pénétration des bactéries et des gouttelettes
de liquide dans le groupe moteur ainsi que
leur dispersion dans le milieu environnant à
travers le silencieux.

Important : Ne pas tremper le filtre à

3 dans un désinfectant liquide afin

Con ciò si rende superfluo un canale
intermedio.

nell’unità motore e che vengano trasmessi

Please observe the operating instructions for
the ACCUVAC
®
aspirator.
These instructions contain only supplementary
information relating specifically to the re-
usable canister.
Malfunctions and a lack of biocompatibility
may result if third-party articles are used.
Please bear in mind that in these cases any
warranty entitlement and liability shall lapse
where the accessories recommended in the
instructions for use or original spare parts are
not utilised.

3.2 Additional safety rules
For your own safety please observe the
following points:
• Please read these operating instructions
carefully. They belong to the appliance
and must be kept available at all times.
• Important : Be sure to dispose of blood
and secretions, and any parts contami-
nated with them, in accordance with the
hygiene regulations in force in your
country.
• The ACCUVAC
®
with re-usable collec-
tion canister should only be operated in
an upright position, otherwise the ball 7
of the overfill system does not reliably
close the connection to the motor unit,
and secretion can enter the motor unit.
This can result in damage to the pump.
• Do not immerse the bacteria filter 3in
disinfectants, as this destroys its hydro-
phobic properties.

1. Unscrew the holder from the motor unit.
2. In the same place, screw on the holder
11 for the re-usable collection canister.
3. Push the re-usable collection canister 10
into the holder 11. Since the collection
canister is directly connected to the
suction port of the motor unit, there is no
need for an intermediate tube.

4. Montage
1. Dévissez la nacelle pour la séparer du
groupe moteur.
2. Vissez au même endroit le support 11 du
bocal de recueil réutilisable.
3. Fixez le bocal 10 sur le support 11.
Comme il est relié directement à la
tubulure d’aspiration du groupe moteur, il
n’y a en ce cas pas besoin de tuyau
intermédiaire.
4. Montaggio
1. Svitare il sostegno del contenitore
dall´unità motore.
2. Allo stesso posto avvitare il sostegno 11
per il contenitore a uso multiplo.
3. Spingere il contenitore a uso multiplo nel
sostegno 11. Poiché il contenitore a uso
multiplo 10 viene collegato direttamente
con l´unità motore, non è richiesto
l´impiego di un tubo di raccordo.

5. Operation
5.1 Preparing for aspiration
Tip:
When using the re-usable collection canister
you will find it makes cleaning considerably
easier if you place approx. 50 to 100 ml dis-
infectant or even water in the bottom of the
canister before starting aspiration. This pre-
vents the aspirated matter from adhering so
firmly to the bottom of the canister.
1. Unwind the aspiration tube 12 from the
tube holder plate.
2. If necessary, adapt an aspiration cathe-
ter of suitable size for tracheal or
nasopharyngeal aspiration to fit the noz-
zle 9.
Important: For effective aspiration of
viscous and solid food matter from the oral
cavity, remove the nozzle 9from the
aspiration tube 12 and use the aspiration
tube on its own.

5.1 Mise en service
Conseil :
Lorsqu’on se sert du bocal de recueil
réutilisable, le nettoyage se trouve simplifié si
on introduit dans le bocal env. 50 à 100 ml
de liquide désinfectant ou d’eau avant de
procéder à l’aspiration. Les matières aspirées
ont alors moins tendance à adhérer au fond du
bocal.
1. Déroulez le tuyau d’aspiration 12 de la
plaque.
2. Adaptez le cas échéant sur la pièce
d’extrémité 9un cathéter de dimension
adéquate pour effectuer une aspiration
trachéale ou nasopharyngienne.
Important :Pour aspirer efficacement les
résidus alimentaires visqueux et solides
hors de la cavité buccale, retirez la pièce
d’extrémité 9du tuyau 12 et utilisez le
tuyau seul.

5. Manovra
5.1 Messa in funzione
Suggerimento:
Nell’usare il collettore a uso multiplo si può
facilitarne la pulitura se prima di iniziare
l’aspirazione vi si versano circa 50-100 ml di
liquido disinfettante o anche di acqua. In tal
modo si evita che le sostanze aspirate
aderiscano al fondo del contenitore.
1. Svolgere il tubo di aspirazione 12 dalla
piastra di sostegno.
2. Adattare eventualmente un catetere di
aspirazione della misura giusta
all’estremità del tubo 9per effettuare
un’aspirazione tracheale o rinofaringea.
Importante: Per effettuare in maniera
efficace l’aspirazione di resti di cibo densi
o solidi dalla cavità orale bisogna
staccare l’estremità 9dal tubo di
aspirazione 12 e usare solo il tubo di
aspirazione.

5.2 Aspiration
During the aspiration process, take care not to
cause any injury to the patient’s mouth and
throat region, and especially to mucous
membrane.
•The fingertip can be opened to interrupt
suction briefly, e.g. if the nozzle is cling-
ing to the skin.
You can leave the fingertip open all the
time and keep your thumb over it. Then all
you have to do to release the suction is lift
your thumb.
Important: Make sure that the ACCUVAC®is
always upright during operation, otherwise
the ball 7of the overfill system cannot reliably
close the connection to the motor unit . This
could result in secretion entering the motor unit
and damaging the pump.
Note: During aspiration, keep an eye on the
fluid level in the collection canister 10 and
empty the collection canister as soon as the
filling limit is reached. This prevents fouling of
the overfill system and minimizes cleaning.
If the overfill system is actuated during aspi-
ration before the filling limit is reached, you
must briefly interrupt the aspiration process
and vent the system (see " Venting the system"
on page 16).

1. Lift the vent tab 1on the filter cover 2until
the ball 7of the overfill system falls back
again.

5.2 Aspiration
En effectuant l’aspiration, veillez en particulier
à ne pas léser la cavité buccale et pharyngée
du patient, surtout au niveau des muqueuses.
•Pour interrompre l’aspiration quelques in-
stants, p.ex.en cas d’effet ventouse sur la
peau, ouvrez brièvement la prise d’air.
Vous pouvez laisser la prise d’air
débouchée en permanence et la maintenir
fermée avec le pouce. Il suffit alors de
soulever brièvement le pouce pour un
appel d’air.
Important : Veillez à ce que l’ ACCUVAC®
soit toujours utilisé en position verticale. Dans
le cas contraire, la bille 7du dispositif de trop-
plein ne peut pas obturer de manière sûre le
raccord du groupe moteur. Des sécrétions
risquent alors de pénétrer dans le moteur et
d’endommager la pompe.
Remarque : Pendant l’aspiration, surveillez le
niveau de remplissage du bocal de recueil
10. Videz toujours le bocal dès que le niveau
limite est atteint. Ceci permet d’éviter de
souiller le dispositif de trop-plein, et par
conséquent de minimiser le nettoyage.
Si le trop-plein est activé pendant l’aspiration
avant que ne soit atteint le niveau limite de
remplissage, il faut interrompre brièvement
l’opération et aérer le système (voir « Aération
du système » à la page 17).

1. Soulevez la languette d’aération 1du
couvercle à filtre 2jusqu’à ce que la bille
7du dispositif de trop- plein soit retombée.
5.2 Aspirazione
Durante il processo di aspirazione si prega di
fare attenzione a non causare delle ferite
nella cavità orale o faringea del paziente,
specialmente alle mucose.
•Nel caso il risucchio dovesse aderire alla
pelle si ottiene una breve interruzione del-
lo stesso aprendo per un momento il rac-
cordo (Fingertip).
Il raccordo può rimanere a lungo aperto e
essere tenuto chiuso soltanto con un
pollice. Per ventilare il sistema basta
sollevare un attimo il pollice.
Importante: Si prega di fare sempre
attenzione a tenere ACCUVAC®in posizione
verticale durante l’impiego, altrimenti la sfera
7del dispositivo di eccedenza non può
interrompere con sicurezza il collegamento
con l’unità motore. In tal modo una parte del
secreto potrebbe penetrare nell’unità motore
e danneggiare la pompa.
Avviso: Durante l’aspirazione è necessario
osservare lo stato di riempimento del
contenitore 10. Si prega di vuotarlo sempre
già quando raggiunge il livello massimo di
riempimento. Si evita così di sporcare il
dispositivo di eccedenza e si riduce al
minimo il lavoro di pulitura.
Qualora il dispositivo di eccedenza entri in
funzione durante il processo di aspirazione
ma prima di raggiungere il limite massimo di
riempimento è necessario interrompere per un
momento l’operazione e ventilare il sistema
(si veda “ Ventilare il sistema” a pagina 17).
Ventilare il sistema
1. Sollevare la linguetta di ventilazione 1
del coperchio del filtro 2fino a che la
sfera 7del dispositivo di eccedenza non
ricada indietro.

2. Insert the tab 1again. You can now
continue with aspiration.
Emptying the re-usable collection
canister
If the re-usable collection canister is full to the
limit, you must interrupt aspiration and empty
the collection canister.
Important: When removing the collection
canister 10, take care that the secretion cover
6is not opened accidentally, allowing the
contents to spill over.
1. Unwind the aspiration tube 12 from the
tube holder plate to make it easier to
remove the canister and reduce the risk of
the secretion cover 6coming open by
accident.
2. Remove the re-usable collection canister
from the motor unit by pulling the locking
tab 5out and lifting the canister out of its
holder.
3. Carefully remove the secretion cover 6.
4. Empty the collection canister 10.
Important: Be sure to observe the relevant
rules for disposal (see "3.2 Additional
safety rules" on page 10).
5. Replace the secretion cover 6on the
collection canister 10.
6. Replace the collection canister in its
holder on the motor unit. Please make
sure that the secretion cover 6is forced
down onto the motor unit and the locking
tab 5slots into place with the bracing
clip 4.
7. If necessary, reattach the aspiration tube
12. You can now continue with
aspiration.
