• Follow all instructions in this manual and on the
child restraint.
• Small Size: Use only with children who weigh
between 30 and 55 lbs. (15 and 25 kg)and
whose height is between 37.5 and 49 inches
(95 and 125 cm).
• Large Size: Use only with children who weigh
between 47 and 80 lbs. (22 and 36 kg)and
whose height is between 47 and 57 inches
(120 and 145 cm).
• Snugly adjust the belts provided with this child
restraint around your child.
• Never use this child restraint with only a
lap belt.
• Use only the vehicle’s lap and shoulder belt
system when restraining a child in this child
restraint. Lap and shoulder belt portion must
be inserted through both lap and the shoulder
belt path guides.
• Snuggly adjust vehicle lap and shoulder belt
around child according to vehicle owner’s
manual.
• Position and tighten vehicle’s lap belt, then
position and adjust vehicle’s shoulder belt.
• Vehicle’s lap belt must be low on hips
contacting thighs and vehicle’s shoulder belt
must be centered on child’s shoulder.
Failure to follow these instructions and child
restraint labels can result in child striking
the vehicle’s interior during a sudden stop
or crash.

• Do not position vehicle’s lap belt up on
abdomen.
• Do not use this child restraint after a crash,
if it is damaged, missing parts or the instruction
manual is missing.
• Discontinue use after 7 years from date of
manufacture.
• Child should not wear any thick jacket
(down jacket or similar)under the vest.
• Stop using the child restraint when it is too
small to fit around child’s chest and thighs.
• Store this child restraint when not occupied.
Unsecured items may injure other occupants
in a sudden stop or crash.
• Never leave child unattended.
• Do not use this child restraint with vehicle’s
LATCH car seat attachment system.
• Do not use this child restraint in a vehicle front
seat location unless recommended in vehicle
owner’s manual.
• Do not use this child restraint on aircrafts or
other non-certified applications.
• Vehicle belts must be flat against child and
must not be twisted.
• Only use this child restraint on forward
facing seats.
• Register your child restraint with the
manufacturer.

Correct Use – Checklist
Understand and follow the instruction manual
and product labels.
Snugly adjust the belts provided with this child
restraint around your child.
Position and tighten lap belt, then position and
adjust shoulder belt.
Lap belt must be low on hips, contacting thighs
and not up on abdomen.
Shoulder belt must be centered on child’s
shoulder. Never positioned under child’s arm or
behind back.
Top of child’s ears are below top of vehicle seat
back or headrest.
Child sits upright, with back against vehicle
seat back.
Child must sit in a forward facing seat.
Drive safely, do not speed and use the child
restraint properly according to the instruction
manual. No child restraint can guarantee
protection from injury in every situation.

• Do not use child restraint
in a seating position with
a frontal air bag unless
recommended by the
vehicle manufacturer.
• Never use child restraint
with vehicle lap belt only.

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
(NHTSA)alerts vehicle owners that according to
accidents statistics, children age 12 and under
are safer when properly restrained in the rear
seating positions rather than the front seating
positions. For vehicles with air bags, refer
to vehicle owner’s manual for child restraint
installation information.
Note: Use this child restraint always with a
vehicle lap and shoulder belt system.

Seating Locations Not To Use:
1. Low vehicle seat back.
Do not use seating locations in which the top
of vehicle seat back is below top of child’s ear.
2. Seats facing side or rear.
Do not use on side or rear-facing vehicle seats.

10 Vehicle Seat Belt Systems
Use this child restraint always with a vehicle lap
and shoulder belt. Do not use the vehicle belt
systems in this section.
1. Lap belts only systems
Vehicle seating locations with only
a lap belt:
• Never use seating locations with
lap belt only.
2. LATCH Anchorage System
(Lower Anchorage and Tether
for Children):
• Never use the vehicle lower anchorages of
the LATCH system with this child restraint.

3. Passive Restraint Systems
a. Motorized shoulder belts:
• Do not use seating locations with
motorized shoulder belts.
b. Door mounted lap and shoulder belt:
• Do not use front seating locations where
seat belts are mounted to the door.

4. Inflatable Seat Belt Systems
• Do not use this child restraint on a
vehicle seating location with an
inflatable seat belt.
5. Switchable Retractors
• A retractor is the mechanism that
winds the seatbelt in and out. It is
also what locks the seatbelt during
a sudden stop or crash.
• Several vehicles have a belt system in
which the retractor can be switched
from the emergency locking mode (ELR)
to an automatic locking mode (ALR).
• The ALR mode is not designed for use
with child restraint systems.

Put Vest on Child
1. Place Vest on Child:
a. Place vest behind child’s back and
insert child’s arms through arm
openings of vest.
b. Close the chest strap buckle (1)
and adjust snugly around chest.
c. Loop the left leg loop strap around
the left thigh and close the black buckle
(2). Loop the right leg loop strap
around the right thigh and close the
grey buckle (3).
2. Adjust size of harness:
a. Adjust the size with the left (4)and
right (5)harness adjuster. Make sure that
the node between upper body and leg loop
belts of the harness is positioned on
hip bone level (6).

b. Adjust the position of the shoulder belt path
guide that the guide is at the same level as
the top of child’s shoulder (1).
• To relocate the shoulder belt path guide,
slide shoulder belt path guide up or down.
3. Tighten leg loops:
a. Pull adjustable left and right leg loop belts
(lap and crotch belt combination)tight (2).

• Use only with the vehicle’s lap and
shoulder belt.
• Do not use with a lap belt only or lower
anchorages of the LATCH System.
• Child must sit upright with rump and back
in contact with the vehicle seat back.
• Top of child’s ears must be below top
of vehicle seat back or headrest.
• To avoid misuse and injury, this child restraint
and vehicle belts should be secured and
adjusted by an adult. Never allow child to
buckle or adjust belts.
• Vehicle belts must be flat against child and
must not be twisted.
• Position and snugly adjust lap belt, then
position and adjust shoulder belt.
• Vehicle’s lap belt must be low on hips,
contacting thighs and not up on abdomen.
• Vehicle’s shoulder belt must be centered
over child’s shoulder. (Not up on neck or
off shoulder).
• Do not use shoulder belt loose, positioned
under child’s arm or behind child.

Securing Child in Vehicle
1. Position child on vehicle seat with child’s
rump and back against vehicle seat
back cushion.
2. Buckle the vehicle seat belt (1).
3. Position both lap belt path guides (2)
on the top of each thigh.
4. Secure child with the vehicle lap and shoulder
belt.
5. Insert vehicle lap belt completely into both lap
belt path guides (3). Snugly adjust lap belt.
6. Snugly adjust vehicle lap belt.

7. Check position of shoulder belt path guide.
• The guide has to be at the same level as the
top of child’s shoulder (1).
•To relocate the path guide, slide shoulder
belt guide up or down.
8. Insert vehicle shoulder belt completely into
the shoulder belt path guide (2).
9. Snugly adjust vehicle shoulder belt.
10. Lap and shoulder belt path guide:
• The vehicle lap belt has to be completely
inserted into both lap belt path guides.
• The vehicle shoulder belt has to be
completely inserted into the shoulder belt
path guide.

Removing Child and Child Restraint
To Remove Child: To Take o Vest:
1. Slide vehicle shoulder belt out of shoulder
belt path guide.
2. Slide vehicle lap belt out of both lap belt
path guides.
3. Unbuckle vehicle lap and shoulder belt.
4. Remove child from the vehicle seat.
Note: If removal of the shoulder or lap belt is
not possible due to the vehicle belt continuing
to tighten, the vehicle seat belt should be cut
to remove the child.
1. Open chest strap and leg loop buckles.
2. Take off vest.
3. Pack it back into the product bag.
Note: For better re-use, smartridr recommends
to close both leg loop buckles before wrapping it.

20 Transportation and Storage
Unsecured Items in the vehicle can injure other
occupants in a sudden stop or crash. Always
store smartridr child restraint in a secure
location such as glove box or other storage
facilities.
The WhizRider child restraint easily fits into any
bag and can be folded as necessary.
