Congratulations on your purchase of your
WMFGrounds separator.
This grounds separator for WMFcoffee machines for
quantity brewing (e.g. WMF9000 F) separates coffee
grounds from rinsing water before the water flows into
the drainage pipes. The coffee grounds are collected in
agrounds container enabling easy disposal.
Follow the User Manual
> Read the User Manual carefully prior to use.
> Please refer to the User Manual, paying
special attention to the safety instructions
and Safety chapter.
> Follow the warning instructions on the coffee
machine and the device.
> Ensure that the staff and all users have access
to the User Manual.
Hazard to life due

machine is ahazard to life.
> Never open the housing.
> Never loosen the screws, and do not remove
any housing parts.

Misuse
• Failure to follow the safety
instructions can result in death or
serious injury.
> Follow all the safety instructions.
1.1 General safety instructions
Hazards to the operator
At WMF, safety is one of the most essential
product features. The effectiveness of the
safety devices can only be ensured if the
following points are observed:
> Do not touch hot device
components.
> Do not use the device if it is not
working properly or if it is damaged.
> Use the device only when it is
completely assembled.
> Read the User Manual carefully
prior to use.
> Always ensure the electrical mains
switch outside the coffee machine
is switched off. Make sure the mains
plug is unplugged at the end of
each service day.

> In the event of amalfunction,
contact WMFCustomer Service.
> Do not use device outdoors.
> The coffee machine must be
switched off before the grounds
separator is cleaned.
> Built-in safety devices must never
be altered.
> This device can be used by children
of age 8years or older while under
continuous supervision, as well as
by persons with reduced physical,
sensory, or mental capabilities or
lack of experience or knowledge,
once they have been instructed in
the safe use of the machine and the
risks associated with it.
> Children must not play with the
device.
> Cleaning and user maintenance
must not be performed by children.
> Do not spray the housing of the
device with the water hose or steam
jet device.

Despite the presence of safety devices, the
grounds separator is apotential hazard
if used improperly. Please observe the
following instructions when using the
device so as to prevent injury and health
hazards:
Hazard to life due
to electrical shock
• The voltage inside the device is
ahazard to life.
> Never open the housing.
> Never loosen the screws, and do not
remove any housing parts.
> Never use adamaged power cord.
> Avoid damage to the power cord.
Do not kink or crush it.
> Never immerse the mains plug
in water or other liquids, or pour
water or other liquids over the
mains plug. Always keeps the mains
plug dry.

• When cleaning, agrounds container
must be placed in the grounds
separator.
• The grounds collected in the
grounds container are hot.
• The hot rinsing water from the
coffee machine poses aburn hazard
in the grounds separator.
> Never reach into the grounds
separator while cleaning the coffee
machine.
> Always use the carry aids on the
grounds container provided for this
purpose.

Health hazard/
irritation and scalding hazard
• Cleaning fluid runs out of the
flexible line when cleaning.
Thismust be safely disposed of.
• Hot liquids can irritate the skin, and
the heat poses ascalding hazard.
• The grounds container may contain
hot liquid or hot coffee grounds.
> Never reach into the grounds
separator when cleaning the coffee
machine.
> Ensure that no one ever drinks the
cleaning solution.
Slipping hazard
• Fluids can be discharged from
the grounds separator if used
improperly or if errors occur. These
fluids can cause aslipping hazard.
> Regularly check the grounds
separator for leaks, and make sure
no water is coming out.

1.2 Intended use
Misuse
• If the device is used other than as
intended, this could lead to arisk of
injury.
> The grounds separator must be used
as intended.
• The WMFGrounds separator is designed for separating coffee
grounds from the rinsing water before it flows into the
drainage pipes.
• This machine is intended for large-scale service in hotels,
restaurants, and similar locations. The machine may be
operated only by specialist personnel.
Installation location
• The device must be placed and leveled on ahorizontal, sturdy,
water-resistant, and heatproof base.
• The device must not be cleaned using awater jet. The device
must be installed where it is protected against water spray.
• The device must not be located on asurface that is sprayed or
cleaned with awater hose, steam jets, steam cleaner, or similar
devices.

Drain connection
• Pipe or hose with at least 1½" (DN40) and aminimum gradient
of 2cm/m.
• Use an original WMFsiphon 33 2163 2000as an anti-odour
seal.
Ambient temperature
• Ambient temperature +5°C to amaximum of +35°C
Usage
• Use of the device is subject to the instructions in this User
Manual and those for the coffee machine to which the unit is
connected.
Any other use or use that goes beyond the aforementioned is
considered incorrect use. The manufacturer shall not be liable
for any damage resulting from this.
• Under no circumstances should the WMFGrounds separator
for the 9000 F be used to separate water from substances
other than coffee grounds.

1.3 Conditions for use and installation
Risk of fire and accidents
> The conditions for installation and
use must be met.
> The conditions for use and
installation listed in the “Technical
Data” chapter must be met.
Any necessary on-site preparatory work for the drainage
connection at the customer‘s premises must be arranged by
the machine owner/operator. The work must be carried out by
authorised installation technicians in compliance with general,
country-specific and local regulations.
The WMFService engineers may only connect the coffee
machine to existing prepared connection points. WMFService is
neither authorised nor responsible for carrying out any on-site
installation work prior to connection.
The device must only be connected and commissioned by
WMFService.

3 Operation
3.1 Operation safety instructions

• The grounds collected in the grounds
container are hot.
> Always use the carry aids on the grounds
container provided for this purpose.
Note
• Water or coffee grounds residues may remain
on the bottom of the grounds container.
> Do not place the grounds container on
surfaces which attract dirt, such as carpets.
> Move the grounds container with care.
3.2 Switch on the grounds separator
The grounds separator is ready for operation as soon as
the coffee machine is switched on.
Slide the operating panel of the coffee machine
upwards
The ON/OFF switch is on the right-hand side, behind
the operating panel.
Press the ON/OFF switch until asignal sounds

Operation | Full message
3.3 Full message
A sensor in the grounds separator can detect
• whether agrounds container is in use,
• whether the grounds container is full.
These messages will be displayed on the coffee
machine display.
Follow the instructions in the User Manual for
coffee machine
Regularly monitor the fill level of the grounds
container, empty it regularly
• Replacing without emptying will result in the
coffee grounds container being overfilled.
Thecoffee machine will be soiled. This may
cause subsequent damage to the machine.
> Always empty the grounds container before
replacing.
3.4 Empty grounds container
Burn hazard
• The grounds collected in the grounds
container are hot.
> Always use the carry aids on the grounds
container provided for this purpose.
• After the last brewing, leave the grounds
container to rest for afurther 5minutes to
allow the remaining water to drain off.
• Water or coffee grounds residues may remain
on the bottom of the grounds container.
> Do not place the grounds container on
surfaces which attract dirt, such as carpets.
> Move the grounds container with care.

Operation | Empty grounds container
• Replacing without emptying will result in the
coffee grounds container being overfilled.
Thecoffee machine will be soiled. This may
cause subsequent damage to the machine.
> Always empty the grounds container before
replacing.
• If the coffee machine is working to full
capacity, we recommend to use asecond
grounds container. This avoids interruptions
to operation when needing to clean and
empty the grounds container.
Briefly raise the retaining lever
Remove the grounds container from the housing
The coffee grounds can now be disposed of.
Coffee preparation is automatically locked after the
container is removed.
Replace emptied grounds container into the housing
On the coffee machine display confirm that the
grounds container has been placed

3.5 Switch off grounds separator
Switch off the coffee machine
This also switches off the grounds separator.
• Carry out aclean before the coffee machine
and grounds separator are switched off.
3.6 Shut down the machine -
shutofffor several days
Before shutting down the coffee machine and
grounds separator for alonger period of time, clean
the pre-drainage insert, and grounds container with
sieve insert, grid and catch pan
Rinse the anti-odour seal of the catch pan with
plenty of clear water
If operation of the grounds separator is Shut off
for several weeks, we recommend cleaning the
pre-drainage sieve and grounds container sieve
before resuming operation of the grounds separator

4 Care
4.1 Clean the grounds separator
To ensure hygienic operation, clean the grounds
separator regularly.
Clean the WMFcoffee machine in accordance with
the instructions in the User Manual for coffee
machine
Switch off the coffee machine, then clean the
grounds separator
Burn hazard/scalding hazard
• While cleaning your WMFcoffee machine, the
grounds container is rinsed with hot water.
• When cleaning, always make sure there is
an empty grounds container in the grounds
separator.

Care | Clean the grounds separator
Weekly cleaning
The sieve insert of the grounds container, the
pre-drainage sieve, and the grounds container itself
must be cleaned once per week.
Briefly raise the retaining lever
Remove the grounds container from the housing
and emty it
In the sieve insert, turn the middle screw
counter-clockwise
Remove the sieve insert from the grounds container
by pulling it out upwards
Raise the grid slightly to the front and pull it out
upwards
Rinse both parts with hot water or clean them in
adishwasher
Remove the insert for pre-drainage and rinse with
clear water
Using hot water and adamp cloth, wipe the inside
of the housing
This prevents aheavy build-up of odours and mould.
Replace the insert for pre-drainage
Load the sieve insert into the grounds container and
tighten clockwise
Insert the grid
Replace the grounds container
Remove grounds container
Remove grid
Remove pre-drainage sieve
Clean the housing
