0. SAFETY INFORMATION & MAINTENANCE

Read this manual before powering or installing the device, follow the safety precautions listed below and
observe all warnings in this manual.
•Be sure that the local power outlet matches that of the required voltage of the power supply included
with this device.
•To reduce the risk of fire or electrical shock, do not expose the unit to rain or high levels of moisture.
•Do not spill water or other liquids into or on your unit.
•Do not open the unit as there are no user serviceable parts inside.
•Do not dismantle or modify the unit, as this voids all warranties.
•Do not attempt repairs. Repairs by unqualified people could cause damage or faulty operation.
Contact your local authorized service center.
•Unplug this unit when not used for long periods of time.
•Clean only with dry cloth.
•Handle this unit carefully. Any strong shock or vibration may result in malfunction.

1. INTRODUCTION
Thank you for purchasing a LM-2. LM-2 is a bi-directional USB-DMX interface, which allows to control, from
a computer, a whole lighting system up to 512 DMX channels. It also can be used for reading DMX frames
from an external console, in order to trigger videos or software effects.
It is recommended for use with application software like ARKAOS©or Chamsys MagicQ PC©.
WARNING:
1. LM-2 SHOULD BE PLACED AWAY FROM HIGH VOLTAGE.
2. LM-2 CAN BE USED AS DMX INPUT OR OUTPUT, BUT NOT SIMULTANEOUSLY.
3. TWO LM-2 CAN BE CONNECTED TO THE SAME COMPUTER, ONE OF THEM CONVERTING
DMX TO USB, AND THE OTHER ONE CONVERTING USB to DMX.

3. INSTALLATION:
To make LM-2 work, you need to install its own drivers.
•For Windows
: (working with Chamsys© or Arkaos©)
1. Before connecting the LM-2 to the USB, install the driver LM2_driver.exe. It can be
downloaded from www.equipson.es/prodDetail.asp?idproducto=736#
2. When the installation is finished, connect the LM-2 to an USB port in the computer. It will
look for the drivers and will install them automatically. If the OS does not find the drivers, you
must indicate the installation folder (Program Files\LM2_driver).
3. Remove the USB connection and connect it again after few seconds in order to finish the
installation process. (This step is only necessary the first time)
•For MAC OS X
:

•To work with Chamsys
©:
1. Unzip the file D2XX.zip and copy the folder D2XX to the desktop. This package contains
3 different builds of the D2XX driver, located in the following subdirectories:
•D2XX/bin/10.3: PPC version compatible with 10.3.x (Panther)
•D2XX/bin/10.4-10.5: Intel x86 and PPC universal binary compatible with OS X 10.4
(Tiger) and OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
•D2XX/bin/10.6: Intel x86 and Intel x86_64 binary compatible with 10.6.x (Snow
Leopard)
2. Install the library. Installing the library is a relatively simple operation which involves
copying a file and making a simbolic link. Use the following steps to install:
i. Open a terminal window (Finder →Applications →Utilities →Terminal)
ii. If the /usr/local/lib directory does not exist, create it (sudo mkdir /usr/local/lib)
iii. If the /usr/local/include directory does not exist, create it (sudo mkdir
/usr/local/include)
iv. Copy the dylib file to /usr/local/lib (sudo cp Desktop/D2XX/bin/the required
subdirectoy depending on your MAC OS (as seen before)/libftd2xx.0.1.7.dylib
/usr/local/lib/libftd2xx.0.1.7.dylib)
v. Make a symbolic link (sudo ln -sf /usr/local/lib/libftd2xx.0.1.7.dylib
/usr/local/lib/libftd2xx.dylib)
vi. Copy the D2XX include file (sudo cp Desktop/D2XX/Samples/ftd2xx.h
/usr/local/include/ftd2xx.h)
vii. Copy the WinTypes include file (sudo cp Desktop/D2XX/Samples/WinTypes.h
/usr/local/include/WinTypes.h)
viii. You have now successfully installed the D2XX library.
3. Connect the LM-2 to an USB port in the computer.
4. Remove the USB connection and connect it again after few seconds in order to finish the
installation process. (This step is only necessary the first time)
•To work with Arkaos
©:
1. Follow steps 1 and 2 of Chamsys configuration.
2. Run the file LM-2 Installer.pkg
3. Follow steps 3 and 4 of Chamsys configuration

4. TROUBLESHOOTING:
Windows
Note: Remember to install the drivers before connecting the LM-2 to your computer.
If after the installation the LM-2 is not working, follow these steps:
1. Connect the LM-2 to an USB port in the computer.
2. Open the Computer Management window (Control Panel – Management Tools) and select the
Device Manager
3. Expand the Universal Serial Bus Controllers (USB) section and find the entry that corresponds to the
LM-2. This entry is the one that dissapears when the LM-2 is disconnected from the USB.
4. Select this entry in the Device Manager and uninstall it (right button, unisntall)
5. Disconnect the LM-2 from your computer and install the drivers again, as explained in chapter
3.Installation.

1. INTRODUCCIÓN
Gracias por adquirir un LM-2. LM-2 es un interfaz bi-direccional USB-DMX, que permite controlar, desde un
ordenador, todo un sistema de iluminación de hasta 512 canales DMX. También puede ser utilizado para
traducir tramas DMX procedentes de una consola, para el disparo de videos o efectos de software.
Es recomendable para usar con software de aplicación como ARKAOS© or Chamsys MagicQ PC©.
WARNING:
1. LM-2 DEBE SER SITUADO LEJOS DE FUENTES DE ALTA TENSIÓN.
2. LM-2 PUEDE SER USADO COMO ENTRADA O SALIDA DMX, PERO NUNCA
SIMULTÁNEAMENTE.
3. PUEDEN USARSE VARIOS DISPOSITIVOS CONECTADOS A UN ÚNICO ORDENADOR, UNO
CONVIRTIENDO DMX A USB, Y OTRO USB A DMX.

3. INSTALACIÓN:
Para que el LM-2 funcione es necesario instalar sus drivers.
•Para Windows
: (trabajando con Chamsys© o Arkaos©)
1. Sin conectar el LM-2 a la toma USB de su ordenador, instale el driver LM2_driver.exe.

2. Cuando la instalación haya finalizado, conecte el dispositivo a un puerto USB del ordenador.
Éste buscará los drivers y los instalará automáticamente. Si el SO no es capaz de encontrar
los drivers, indique manualmente la carpeta de instalación (Archivos de
Programa\LM2_driver).
3. Retire la conexión USB del interfaz y vuélvalo a conectar pasados unos segundos para
finalizar el proceso de instalación (Este paso sólo es necesario la primera vez).
•Para MAC OS X

•Para trabajar con Chamsys

1. Descomprima el archivo D2XX.zip y copie la carpeta D2XX en el Escritorio. Este paquete
contiene 3 versiones diferentes del driver D2XX, ubicadas en los siguientes
subdirectorios:
•D2XX/bin/10.3: PPC version compatible con 10.3.x (Panther)
•D2XX/bin/10.4-10.5: Intel x86 y PPC universal binary compatible con OS X 10.4
(Tiger) y OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
•D2XX/bin/10.6: Intel x86 and Intel x86_64 binary compatible con 10.6.x (Snow
Leopard)
2. Instale la librería. Instalar la librería es un proceso relativamente sencillo que consiste en
copiar un archivo y hacer un enlace simbólico (simbolic link). Realice los siguientes
pasos:
i. Abra una ventana de Terminal (Finder →Aplicaciones →Utilidades →Terminal)
ii. Si el directorio /usr/local/lib no existe, créelo (sudo mkdir /usr/local/lib)
iii. Si el directorio /usr/local/include no existe, créelo (sudo mkdir /usr/local/include)
iv. Copie el archivo dylib en /usr/local/lib (sudo cp Desktop/D2XX/bin/el
subdirectorio requerido dependiendo de su MAC OS (ver punto
anterior)/libftd2xx.0.1.7.dylib /usr/local/lib/libftd2xx.0.1.7.dylib)
v. Haga un enlace simbólico (symbolic link) (sudo ln -sf
/usr/local/lib/libftd2xx.0.1.7.dylib /usr/local/lib/libftd2xx.dylib)
vi. Copie el archivo include D2XX (sudo cp Desktop/D2XX/Samples/ftd2xx.h
/usr/local/include/ftd2xx.h)
vii. Copie el archivo include WinTypes (sudo cp
Desktop/D2XX/Samples/WinTypes.h /usr/local/include/WinTypes.h)
viii. La librería D2XX se ha instalado satisfactoriamente.
3. Conecte el LM-2 a un puerto USB del ordenador.
4. Desconecte el LM-2 del puerto USB y vuélvalo a conectar pasados unos segundos para
terminar así el proceso de instalación. (Este paso sólo es necesario la primera vez).
•Para trabajar con Arkaos
©:
1. Siga los pasos 1 y 2 de la configuración Chamsys©.
2. Ejecute el archivo LM-2 Installer.pkg
3. Siga los pasos 3 y 4 de la configuración Chamsys©.

4. TROUBLESHOOTING:
Windows
Nota: Recuerde instalar el driver antes de conectar el LM-2 a su ordenador por el puerto USB.
Si tras la instalación de los drivers, su dispositivo LM-2 no funciona siga los siguientes pasos:
1. Conecte el LM-2 a su ordenador.
2. Abra el panel de Administración de Equipos (Panel de control – Herramientas Administrativas) y
seleccione el Administrador de Dispositivos.
3. Despliegue la sección de Controladores de bus serie universal (USB) y localice la entrada
correspondiente al LM-2. Es la que aparece etiquetada como USB serial converter. Si no la localiza,
desconecte el LM-2 y observe qué entrada en la sección de Controladores de bus serie universal
desaparece. Vuelva a conectar el LM-2 y la entrada volverá a aparecer
4. Seleccione dicha entrada en el administrador de dispositivos y desinstálela (botón derecho,
desinstalar)
5. Desconecte el LM-2 de su ordenador y proceda a instalar de nuevo los drivers, tal y como se explica
en el capítulo 3.Instalación.
