1.1 Safe Use of this Product
Donotusethisproductinamannernotspeciedin
thisuser’smanual.
Forthesafetyoftheoperatorandtoprotect
thisproductandthesystem,pleasebesureto
followthismanual’ssafetyinstructions.Ifthese
instructionsarenotheeded,theprotectivefeatures

toawirelessstationformobileobject
identicationsystems,promptlychangethe
frequencybeingusedorturnoffthesourceof
radiowaveemissions.
Then,contactaYokogawaofceregarding
countermeasurestopreventinterference,such
assettinguppartitions.
1.3 Warranty
• Thewarrantyshallcovertheperiodnotedon
thequotationpresentedtothepurchaseratthe
timeofpurchase.Problemsoccurringduring
thewarrantyperiodshallbasicallyberepaired
freeofcharge.
• Ifanyproblemsareexperiencedwiththis
instrument,thecustomershouldcontactthe
Yokogawarepresentativefromwhichthis
instrumentwaspurchasedorthenearest
Yokogawaofce.
• Ifaproblemariseswiththisinstrument,
pleaseinformusofthenatureoftheproblem
andthecircumstancesunderwhichit
developed,includingthemodelspecication
andserialnumber.Anydiagrams,dataand
otherinformationyoucanincludeinyour
communicationwillalsobehelpful.
• Thepartyresponsibleforthecostofxingthe
problemshallbedeterminedbyYokogawa
followinganinvestigationconductedby
Yokogawa.
The purchaser shall bear the responsibility for
repair costs, even during the warranty period,
if the malfunction is due to:
- Improper and/or inadequate maintenance
by the purchaser.
- Malfunction or damage due to a failure
to handle, use, or store the instrument
in accordance with the design
specications.
- Use of the product in question in a
location not conforming to the standards
speciedbyYokogawa,ordueto
improper maintenance of the installation
location.
- Repairormodicationtothisinstrument
by customer will cause malfunction of
explosionprotectfunctionandhazardous
situation. If you need to repair or

- Malfunction or damage from improper
relocation of the product in question after
delivery.

Whenstoringthisproduct,observethefollowing
precautions.
1. Chooseastoragelocationthatsatisesthe
followingrequirements.
• Alocationthatisnotexposedtorainorwater.
• Alocationsubjecttoaminimumofvibration
orimpact.
• Thefollowingtemperatureandhumidity
rangeisrecommended.Ordinary
temperatureandhumidity(25°C,65%)are
preferable.
• Temperature:
- Operating:-20°C~70°C
- Storage: -25°C~70°C
• Humidity:
 -Operation:0to100%RH
(non-condensation)

NOTE
Keeptheall-weatherprotectordryandcleanfor
correctsoundlevelmeasurement.Preferably,
installWN100underarooforaprotection
againstrain.
Theattachedall-weatherprotectorcanprotect
themicrophonefromtherainandotherliquid
substance,whilesoundlevelmeasurementis
affectedbyliquidabsorptioninthewindscreen
partoftheprotector.
InthecasethatWN100isexposedtotheheavy
rain,ittakesmorethan2hourstorecovernormal
measurementconditionaftertherainstops.
IMPORTANT
Exposuretooilsandorganicsolventsshouldbe
avoidedtopreventdamagetothewindscreen
material.

Ambient Temperature
Itispreferablenottoexposetheinstrumentto
extremetemperaturesortemperatureuctuations.
IfWN100isexposedtoradiationofheatathermal
protectionsystemorappropriateventilationis
recommended.
Ambient Atmosphere
Donotallowtheinstrumenttobeinstalledina
locationthatisexposedtocorrosiveatmospheric
conditions.Ifthereissuspectofexistingany
corrosivesubstances,makesurethatthelocationis
wellventilatedsonoeffectontheequipment.
Impact and Vibration
ItishighlyrecommendedthattheWN100be
installedinalocationthatissubjecttoaminimum
amountofimpactandvibration.Theequipmentis
sosensitivetothevibrationthatitmaybeaffected
ifinstalledinaplacethatisvibrating.Inthiscase
measuredsoundpressurelevelmightbegreater
thantheactualsoundpressurelevel.
Useoftheantivibrationstageishighly
recommended.
Installation of Explosion Protected Products
Anexplosionprotectedproductsiscertiedfor
installationinahazardousareacontainingspecic
gastypes.Refertosubsection2.6“Installationofan
ExplosionProtectedInstrument”.
2.5 Use of a Transceiver
IMPORTANT
Avoidusingradiotransceiversclosetothe
WN100.
WN100issodesignedandtestedthatimmune
toelectromagneticinterferencestoadequate
level,butincaseyourtransceivercreatesgreater
disturbancesthantheequipmentistolerant,
theequipmentwillbeaffected.Ifyouaretouse
transceivers,makesurethatthereisnoriskof
affectiontotheequipment’sperformance.Start
outfromadistanceofseveralmetersandslowly
approachtheWN100andwatchthatthe“PV.
VALUE”and“DIAG_STATUS”arenotaffected
whiletransmittingsignalfromyourtransceiver.
Ifaffected,donotusethetransceiverwithinthe
range.
2.6 Installation of an Explosion
Protected Instrument
Ifacustomermakesarepairormodicationtoan
intrinsicallysafeinstrumentandtheinstrumentis
notrestoredtoitsoriginalcondition,itsintrinsically
safeconstructionmaybecompromisedandthe
instrumentmaybehazardoustooperate.Please
contactYokogawabeforemakinganyrepairor
modicationtoaninstrument.

4.1 Precautions

Whenusingtheantivibrationstage,usea
leveletc.andsetitwithin±3degreefromthe
horizontal.Upto±6degreeisacceptablewhen

Thefollowingprovidestheinstructionsformounting
theantenna.

Incaseyouinstalltheequipmenttoaplace
whereexplosiveatmospheres,uncapthe
plasticcapcoveringtheantennaconnectorof
WN100beforeyouentertheplaceofexplosive
atmospheres.
IMPORTANT
Theconnectorforconnectingantennaiscovered
withplasticcapuponshipment.Keepthecapput
onuntilyouaretomounttheantennaonyour
WN100tokeepthecontactoftheconnectorclean.
Pleaseretainthecapforfutureuse,andput
thecapontheconnectorimmediatelyafter
disconnectingtheantenna.
IMPORTANT
Tomaintaintheconditionofthecontactofthe
antennaconnector,protectthecontactfrom
corrosivesubstancesbythefollowingtreatment.
1. Cleanthecontactofconnectorthoroughly
andscrewtheantennatight.
2. Windthebutylrubberself-bondingtape
aroundtheconnection.
