Safety
Instructions
Please read the following safety instructions to prevent
personal injury or damage to the ZEISS ZX1.
This will ensure that you enjoy working with your new
camera for as long as possible.

71 Safety Instructions
WARNING – Danger of Injury.
Ο Keep the camera out of reach of children. Children may choke on
small parts; risk of strangulation from the camera strap or a cable.
Ο Do not trigger the ash near the eyes, the skin, or other objects.
This may lead to serious eye injuries or burns.
Ο Do not push hard on the lens or the back display. This may lead to
cuts and skin irritation.
Ο Do not take apart or modify the camera. Touching the cameras
internal parts may lead to physical injury.
Ο Immediately stop using the camera if it smells odd or starts giving
o smoke. Continued usage may lead to physical injury.
WARNING – Risk of Explosion.
Ο Do not use the camera in the presence of ammable gas.
Ο Do not place the battery near or directly in a naked ame.
Ο Only use the batteries recommended.
WARNING – Risk of Fire.
Ο Do not expose the camera to water or any other liquid.
Ο Do not disassemble or short-circuit the battery.
Ο Do not expose the battery to water.
Ο Immediately stop using the battery if you notice any changes such
as deformation or discoloration of the battery.
CAUTION – Damage to Property.
Ο Keep the camera away from strong magnetic elds.
Ο Switch o the camera when camera use is prohibited due to
electromagnetic waves, e.g. in airplanes or hospitals.
Ο Unplug the power adapter when not in use.
Ο Do not drop the camera.
Ο Avoid hard impacts to the camera.
Ο Do not place the camera in humid or dusty places.
Ο Do not use the camera if condensation has formed on it.
Ο Do not point the camera at strong light sources.

Battery & Power Adapter
Ο Use only original ZEISS batteries.
Ο Replacing the battery with an incorrect battery type may lead to
loss of property and void the warranty. For information on how
to replace the battery, refer to 2.2.3 Power Supply & Charging.
Ο Batteries may explode if not handled properly.
Ο The power adapter can be used indoors only at an altitude of up
to 5,000 meters above sea level.
Ο In the case of a hazard such as smoke or re, disconnect the
power supply from the power grid.
Ο If you are not using the camera for a long period, remove the
battery from the camera and store it separately in a dry and cool
place.
Ο Do not place the battery near or directly in a naked ame.
Ο Do not plug in or unplug the power adapter with wet hands.
Ο Prevent the USB connector and plug o the power adapter from
coming in contact with metal objects or dust.
Ο Regularly clean the power adapter and remove dust and dirt.
Ο There is no risk of leaking battery electrolyte.
Ο This camera uses a lithium battery. If you take it on an airplane,
please contact your airline regarding relevant requirements for
checked and carry-on baggage.
Intended Use
The ZEISS ZX1 is intended for capturing pictures and videos in dry indoor
and outdoor spaces only. Liability and warranty claims are excluded in the
event of improper use.

2.2.2 Lens Cap, Lens Ring & Lens Shade
Lens Cap
Whenever you are not shooting pictures, use the lens cap to protect the
lens. Pinch the two sliders to release or secure the cap.
Lens Ring
Use the rubber lens ring to protect the lens barrel.
Place the lens ring with the eyelet directly facing the lens barrel and turn it
90° clockwise until it locks in place. The eyelet is pointing down now. To
detach the lens ring, turn it 90° counterclockwise.
Lens Shade
Use the lens shade to prevent glare and lens are.
Align the yellow dot with the yellow mark on the lens barrel and turn it
90° clockwise until it locks in place. To detach the lens shade, turn it 90°
counterclockwise. Mount the lens shade in the reverse direction to carry
the camera more easily while it is not in use.
Note: The lens cap can always be mounted on either the lens ring or the
lens shade.
Note: The lens ring and lens shade cannot be used at the same time.

2.2.3 Power Supply & Charging
Battery Handling
Insert the battery before using the camera.
Unlatch and open the battery compartment cover and insert the battery as
shown. Once you have inserted the battery correctly, the battery lock will
x it in place. Then close the battery compartment cover.
Open the battery compartment cover to remove the battery. Slide away
the battery lock, remove the battery and close the battery compartment
cover.

Battery Hot-Swap
The ZEISS ZX1 comes with a hot swap function. It allows you to remove
an almost dead battery and insert a charged one without powering o the
camera. Open the battery compartment cover. The camera automatically
switches into sleep mode. Wait until the LED ashes and has turned from
red to white. Remove the depleted battery and insert the new one within
30 seconds. Close the battery compartment cover.
Note: If the battery is removed while the camera is operating, it will shut
down and will not reboot on its own after the battery is reinserted.
AC Adapter
The AC adapter comes with a premounted plug. To exchange the plug
with a dierent type, move the slider downwards to release it. To attach
the new plug, rst align the ridge with the groove. Then push it in all the
way, while turning it slightly.

Charging the Battery in the Camera
Connect the camera to the AC adapter using the USB cable. Plug the AC
adapter into a power socket.
When the camera is switched o, the
battery charge level will appear on the
display for a few seconds. After the screen
turns o, the LED will light up blue until
the battery is fully charged. To check the
charging status, press the shutter button to
bring up the battery charge level again on
the display.
When the camera is switched on, the
battery charge level of the cameraWcan be
found in the top left corner of the status
bar. The icon turns redVwhen the battery
charge level is below 15 %.
If the camera is being charged when it is
turned on, the battery iconXchanges to
the charging icon Ὁ.

Charging the battery in the battery charger (sold separately)
Connect the battery charger to the AC adapter using the USB cable. Plug
the AC adapter into a power socket.
Insert the battery in the battery charger compartment with contacts facing
down. Once the battery is inserted correctly, the charger LED will light up
in one of the following patterns, depending on the current battery charge
level:
Ο From 0 to 50 %: The charger's LED lights up steadily blue.
Ο From 51 to 75 %: The charger's LED blinks blue twice approx.
every 2 seconds.
Ο From 76 to 99 %: The charger's LED blinks blue once approx.
every 2 seconds.
Ο Battery full: Charging stops automatically. The charger's LED
slowly fades in and out white.
Ο Error: The charger's LED ashes red rapidly if the battery status
cannot be read properly.
To stop charging the battery at any time, remove the battery from the
battery charger compartment.

Troubleshooting
Keep the following points in mind to make sure the camera battery fully
charges:
Ο Ensure the USB cable is properly connected to both the battery
charger and the AC adapter.
Ο Make sure the connection between the AC adapter body and the
changeable plug is tight.
Ο Make sure that there are no small objects in the battery charger
compartment that may impede the battery's connection.
Ο Make sure that the battery charger is stable while charging and
that the USB cable is not kinked or pinched o.
