HARDWARE OVERVIEW


AF ASSIST LAMP
The AF assist lamp lights up to illuminate the desired object in autofocus mode and gives feedback
about the self-timer countdown.
AF/MF SWITCH
Use the AF/MF switch to choose between automatic and manual focus.
APERTURE RING
Use the aperture ring to control how much light enters the lens and reaches the sensor.
DIOPTER CONTROL
Use the diopter control while looking through the electronic viewfinder to adjust the diopter and
accommodate to differences in vision.
FLASH HOT SHOE
Use the flash hot shoe to attach an external flash.
FN BUTTON
Use the Fn button to lock desired focus and/or automatic exposure settings.
FOCUS RING
Use the focus ring to manually adjust the focus.

ISO SPEED DIAL
Use the ISO speed dial to control how sensitive the sensor is to the light that reaches it.
POWER SWITCH
The power switch is a 3-position toggle. Use it to switch on the camera, to switch between Still and
Video Shooting mode, to switch to standby mode or to switch off the camera.
REAR LED
The rear LED gives feedback in various situations such as switching the camera on, charging the
camera or during an upload process.
SHUTTER BUTTON
Use the shutter button to focus (half-press) and take a picture/start recording a video (full-press).
SHUTTER SPEED DIAL
Use the shutter speed dial to control how long the sensor is exposed to the light that reaches it.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Please read the followingsafety instructions to prevent personal injury or damage to the ZX1 camera.
Safety and handling
Do not point the camera directly toward bright light, e. g. the sun. This may lead to serious
eye injuries.
Do not fire the flash near the eyes, close to the skin, or other objects. This may lead to
serious eye injuries or burns.
Do not push hard on the lens or the back display. This may lead to cuts and skin irritation.
Immediately stop using the camera if it smells odd or starts giving off smoke. Continued use
may lead to physical injury.
Use and store the camera only in temperatures ranging between 0 °C and 40 °C and a
humidity of less than 85 %.
WARNING –Danger of injury.
Keep the camera out of the reach of children. Children could choke on small parts; risk of
strangulation from the camera strap or a cable.
Do not fire the flash near the eyes of other people. This may lead to eye injuries.
Do not fire the flash close to the skin or other objects. This may lead to burns.
Do not directly look through the electronic viewfinder in bright light, e. g. the sun. This may
lead to eye injuries.
If you come into contact with leaking battery electrolyte
(e. g. eyes, mouth, skin, and clothing), immediately rinse with water. This may lead to
chemical burns and eye injuries.
Do not push hard on the lens. This may lead to cuts and damage the camera.
Do not push hard on the back display. This may lead to skin irritation due to leaking liquid
crystal or damage the camera.
Do not take apart or modify the camera. Touching the cameras internal parts may lead to
physical injury.
Immediately stop using the camera if it smells odd or starts giving off smoke. Continued usage
may lead to physical injury.
WARNING –Risk of explosion.
Do not use the camera in the presence of flammable gas.
Do not place the battery near or directly in a naked flame.
Only use the batteries recommended.
WARNING –Risk of fire.
Do not expose the camera to water or any other liquid.
Do not disassemble or short-circuit the battery.
Do not expose the battery to water.
Immediately stop using the battery if you notice any changes such as deformation or
discoloration of the battery.

CAUTION –Damage to property.
Keep the camera away from strong magnetic fields.
Switch off the camera when camera use is prohibited due to -electromagnetic waves, e. g. in
airplanes or hospitals.
Unplug the power adapter when not in use.
Do not drop the camera.
Do not subject the camera to hard knocks.
Do not place the camera in humid or dusty places.
Do not use the camera if condensation forms on it.
Do not point the camera at strong light sources.
Do not let sand or dust enter the camera.
Do not block the shutter curtain, e. g. with your finger.

BATTERY AND POWER ADAPTER
Only use original ZEISS batteries.
Replacing the battery with an incorrect battery type may lead to loss of property, and void the
warranty.
Batteries may explode if not handled properly.
The power adapter can be used up to an altitude of 2,000 meters above sea level.
In the case of any hazard like smoke or fire, disconnect the power supply from the power grid.
If you are not using the camera for a long period, remove the battery from the camera and
store it separately in a dry and cold place.
Do not place the battery near or directly in a naked flame.
Do not insert and remove the power adapter with wet hands.
Prevent the terminal and plug of the power adapter from coming in contact with metal objects
or dust.
Regularly clean the power adapter and remove dust and dirt.
There is no risk of leaking battery electrolyte.
INTENDED USE
The ZX1 camera is intended for capturing pictures and videos in dry indoor and outdoor spaces only.
Liability and warranty claims are excluded in the event of improper use.

REGULATORY INFORMATION
ACCESSING THE REGULATORY INFORMATION ON THE CAMERA
1. Switch to Settings mode.
2. Tap on the General settings icon.
3. Go to DEVICE› REGULATORY INFO to view regulatory information on the camera.

EUROPEAN DIRECTIVE OF REGULATION
When the camera left the factory, it was in a completely safe working condition. It meets the
electromagnetic compatibility requirements set out in Directive 2014/5 3/EU and bears the CE test
mark.

This device complies with part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two
conditions: (1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any
