WARNINGS
• We are constantly improving our products and they may be modied without prior noce.
• This device must only be used for cleaning swimming pool water, and for no other purpose.
• The device must only be used by competent, physically and mentally able persons who have been informed
about its use by reading these instrucons. Anyone who does not meet these condions should keep away
from the device, as they may risk exposure to dangerous components.
• If the device does not funcon correctly, do not try to repair it yourself. Contact your reseller.
• The cleaner needs to operate in swimming pool water under the following condions: chlorine < 3 mg/l; pH
between 6.8 and 7.6; temperature between 15°C and 35°C.
• Do not operate the cleaner out of the water.
• Incorrect installaon or use may lead to serious physical damage or bodily injury, which may cause death.
• Ensure that the vacuum equipment installed in your pool to which you connect the hydraulic cleaner com-
plies with the current safety standards.
• Do not obstruct the pool's vacuum nozzles, the cleaner's vacuum inlet or the cleaner's hoses. Keep your hair,
loose clothing, jewellery etc. away from the vacuum nozzles of the pool and cleaner.
• To reduce the risk of injury, keep the device out of the reach of children. Never allow anyone, and especially
young children, to sit, put their feet, lean or climb on equipment that is part of the pool's operaonal sys-
tem.
• Do not enter the pool while the cleaner is in the water.
WARNING ON THE USE OF THIS CLEANER IN A POOL WITH A VINYL SURFACE
Before installing your new cleaning cleaner, carefully inspect the lining of your pool. If the liner is flaking away
in places, or if you notice grit, creases, roots or corrosion due to metal beneath the liner, or if you see that the
surface (bottom and sides) is damaged, do not install the cleaner until you have carried out the necessary re-
pairs or had the liner replaced by a qualified professional. Zodiac® cannot be held responsible for any damage
caused to the liner.
The surface of certain vinyl patterned surfaces can wear rapidly and the patterns disappear on contact with ob-
jects such as cleaning brushes, toys, inflatable buoys, chlorine distributors and automatic pool cleaners. Erased
patterns, wear or scratching of vinyl surfaces are not the liability of Zodiac® and are not covered by the limited
warranty.

1.1 Important
Check that your appliance has not been damaged during transport (impact, broken parts, etc.). If you find any problems

1.4 Recommendations for use
• The pool must be equipped with a self-priming ltraon unit with a full-system ow rate of 12 m³/h and ltraon pump
power of 3/4 hp or 550 W.
• During the season, you can leave the device in the water.
• The cleaner needs to operate in swimming pool water under the following condions: chlorine < 3 mg/l; pH between
6.8 and 7.6; temperature between 15°C and 35°C. Outside these values, the cleaner's eciency may be reduced.
• When the pool is dirty, especially when commissioning, remove the largest debris using a net in order to optimise clea-
ner performance.
• Do not wait unl the pool is very dirty and full of algae before using the cleaner, or the ltraon system will become
clogged very quickly.
• Remove any thermometers, toys and other objects that might block or damage the cleaner.
• You can operate the filtration pump during a cleaning cycle to filter out the particles placed in suspension by the cleaner.
However, if the behaviour of the cleaner is affected by the jet from the discharge nozzle when the filtration pump is
operational, we advise you to start your cleaner when the filtration pump is not operating.
During the season, we recommend leaving the cleaner in the pool EXCEPT when using the pool.
To remove the cleaner, disconnect the hose, but do not roll it up.
Remove the cleaner from the pool for at least 4 hours when adding chemical products.
2. Assembly and installation
2.1. Determining the suitable hose length for your pool
• The correct hose length is the maximum distance your cleaner
can travel in your pool.
• It corresponds to the distance between the hose connecon
point – the skimmer or sucon line – and the point furthest
away from it, plus a 1-metre secon.
• If this measurement is greater than 11 m, you can buy addio-
nal secons from your reseller.

2.2. Assembling the hose sections
The hose consists of several sections with fast Twist-Lock connectors that are very simple to use.
• To assemble two hose secons, lock them together and twist
them as far as you can unl the connectors reach one of the three
sealing notches.
• The first section of the hose, which holds the float, should be
connected to the cleaner. The float should be 20-23 cm from the
cleaner body.

To optimise cleaning coverage, do not use an excessively long hose.
2.3. Connecting the hose to the skimmer or suction line
Start the filtration system and fill the hose with water by placing the end of the hose in front of a discharge outlet. Stop
the pump.

1. Connect the opposite end of the hose from the cleaner to
the 45-degree extended Twist-Lock elbow.
2. Connect the conical adaptor to the sucon line.
3. Connect the other end of the extended elbow to the conical
adaptor.
4. Direct the elbow up towards the surface of the water. Brush socket

The ow regulaon valve should always be used for installaons
with a single skimmer.
If the pool has several skimmers, connect the hose to the one
closest to the pump.
1. Remove the skimmer lid and basket.
2. Fix the conical adaptor to the boom of the skimmer.
3. Connect the flow regulation valve to the conical adaptor and
the other end to the 45-degree elbow.
4. Connect the hose to the 45-degree elbow.

2.4. Installing the leaf trap (Cyclonic Leaf Catcher - MX™ 8 PRO)
• Stop the pump.
• Connect the leaf trap to the closest hose to the sucon line or
skimmer.
• Ensure the leaf trap is the right way round: "PUMP" = pump side
and "CLEANER" = cleaner side.

For optimum operation, the leaf trap should be positioned vertically at the surface of the water.
3. Use
3.1 Starting up
• Clean the pool manually and ensure that the ltraon system and the skimmer baskets are clean.
• Direct the discharge nozzles downwards to ensure the cleaning covers the whole pool.
• Close the boom plug hole of your pool.
• Stop the ltraon pump.
To avoid serious injury, ensure the cleaner's vacuum pump is not operang.
Do not expose your hair, loose clothing, jewellery etc. to the open end of the hose.
• Connect the ow regulator valve to the rst secon of the hose, which
holds the oat.
• Immerse the cleaner body and ll it with water.
• When no more air bubbles escape from the cleaner, connect the hose,
attaching the flow regulator valve to the cleaner.
• Let the cleaner sink to the boom of the pool.
• Temporarily disconnect the hose from the skimmer or sucon line.
• Switch on the ltraon pump.
• Fill the hose with water by placing the end in front of a discharge nozzle
unl it is completely full.
• Stop the pump and reconnect the hose to the skimmer or sucon line.
3.2. Adjusting the flow and optimising the performance of the cleaner
The cleaner's ability to climb the sides depends on the shape of the pool and the water flow rate available.
There are two parts specially designed to ensure the correct water flow rate within the cleaner:
1. the flow regulator valve;
2. the Flowkeeper valve.
Adjusting these components will protect the cleaner's parts and extend their lifetime.
The ow regulator valve includes a yellow and red indicator. When the
ow is normal, only the yellow part is visible. If the water ow becomes
excessive, the indicator moves up, revealing the red part.
In this case, you must adjust the ow by doing the following:
 Evaluate the flow rate
The rotation speed of the wheels is a good indicator of how the water is circulating inside the cleaner.

To evaluate this speed:
1. Switch on the filtration pump and prepare a stopwatch.
2. Hold the cleaner just below the surface of the water.
3. Find the yellow indicator on the right-hand rear wheel.
4. Measure how long it takes for the wheels to rotate ten times.
NOTE: For MX8™, wait for the wheels to change direction before
beginning the stopwatch.
If this time is:
• 20 to 25 seconds  NO adjustment needed, the ow rate is normal.
• 25 to 50 seconds  INCREASE the ow rate.
• 10 to 19 seconds  REDUCE the ow rate.
 Adjusting the flow rate to optimise the cleaner's performance
The Flowkeeper valve allows you to adjust the flow rate to ensure the
cleaner and the pump operate correctly. It is set by default to optimise
the cleaner's performance, but two further flow positions are avai-
lable.
To adjust it, pull the lever on the Flowkeeper valve outwards and move
it:
• upwards to increase the ow rate;
• downwards to reduce the flow rate.

3.3. MX™ 8 - MX™ 8 PRO vacuum modes
Before starng this operaon, to avoid serious injury, ensure the cleaner is disconnected from the hose and
the vacuum pump is not operang.
The MX™ 8 and MX™ 8 PRO cleaners are designed with two vacuum options:
 Small debris cleaning mode (factory setting): for collecting small debris and heavy debris such as sand, mud and
pebbles.
 Large debris cleaning mode: for collecting larger debris such as leaves.
To change the cleaner to "large debris" cleaning mode:
• Turn the cleaner over.
• Insert a nger into the yellow vacuum adaptor between
the two fans.
• Lift the rear of the adaptor and remove it from the va-
cuum inlet.
To return to "small debris" cleaning mode:
• Replace the yellow adaptor in the vacuum inlet of the
cleaner cleaner. Press unl the front and rear edges
clip into place.
For regular maintenance, we recommend the small debris mode.
4. Maintenance
Never expose the hose to direct sunlight.

4.1. Cleaning the pump pre-filter
To keep your cleaner operating efficiently, the pump pre-filter needs to be emptied regularly.
We recommend using the Cyclonic™ Leaf Catcher (supplied with the MX™ 8 PRO) to collect large debris before it enters the skim-
mers and the pump pre-filter.
Always remove the cleaner from the sides of the pool before cleaning or purging the pool filtration system.
After cleaning, run the filtration system for at least five minutes to clear the pipes before returning the
cleaner to the pool.
4.2. Emptying the leaf trap (Cyclonic™ Leaf Catcher - MX™ 8 PRO)
• Stop the pump.
• Hold the leaf trap under the water and grasp its handle. Using the handle, turn the transparent tank unl it comes away
from the lid (1).
• Leave the lid and pipes under the water and li the transparent tank out of the water (2).
• Hold the yellow handle and remove the lter (3).
• Remove the debris and rinse out the transparent tank (4).
• To reinstall the tank, immerse it in the pool, with its lter and the lid (5).
• Posion the tank to t the notches in the lid and turn it rmly to fasten it to the lid (6).

4.3. Removing debris from the motor
To avoid serious injury, ensure the vacuum pump is not operating and the cleaner is disconnected from the
hose before carrying out this operation.
• Press the yellow buon on the top of the cleaner and li the cover.
• Remove any debris from the motor.
• If necessary, gently push the motor blades backwards and forwards to free any
debris lodged inside and remove it. As you move the motor blades, make sure
the cleaner's tracks can turn freely and are synchronised with the movement of
the blades beneath the cleaner.
• At the same me, remove any debris stuck in the brush or the vacuum inlet.
• Close the cleaner's cover and make sure it is securely locked.
4.4. Replacing the tracks

• Lay the cleaner on one side.
• Starng with one of the wheels, pull the inside of the track to
take it o the wheel (1). Then take the track o the cleaner.
• To t the new track, posion the inside of the track on the groo-
ves of the small wheel and one of the large wheels.
• Stretch the track around the last wheel (2). Press on the track to
posion it correctly on the wheel grooves. Make sure that the
track passes under the guide.
4.5. Cleaning your cleaner
• The cleaner must be cleaned regularly using clean or slightly soapy water. Do not use solvents such as trichloroethylene
or equivalent.
• Rinse the cleaner in plenty of clean water.
• Do not leave your cleaner to dry in direct sunlight.

4.6. Storage and wintering
• Before storing the cleaner for the winter, empty all the water out (damage due to ice is not covered by the guarantee).
• Clean the whole device and the hoses in clean water and leave to dry.
• Store in a dry place protected against frost.
• Remove all the connectors and adaptors from the sucon line or skimmer.
• Dismantle the hose secons. Make sure the hoses are not blocked and store them at.
When the cleaner is in storage, even for a short period, avoid rolling up the hoses, as they may permanently
adopt a shape that would reduce the cleaner's performance.
Never store the cleaner in direct sunlight.
5. Troubleshooting
Problems Soluons
The cleaner does not move
or is very slow.
• Make sure your pool's boom plug hole is closed.
• Clean and empty the skimmer baskets and the pump pre-lter.
• Ensure there is no debris obstrucng or blocking the operaon of the motor (see sec-
on 4.4).
• Remove the yellow adaptor from the vacuum inlet beneath the cleaner (see secon
3.3).
• Check the ow rate (see secon 3.2).
• Make sure there is no air in the system. If the water level in the pump pre-lter falls, or
if you see large quanes of air bubbles coming from the discharge nozzles, there is air
in the system. Check the hose connecons and the ltraon pipework.
• Check that the pool lining is not covered with algae, which makes the surface slippery
and aects the cleaner's tracon. If it is, carry out shock chlorinaon and slightly re-
duce the pH.
The cleaner does not cover
the whole pool.
• Check the ow rate (see secon 3.2).
• Make sure the discharge nozzles are poinng downwards.
• Check that the hose is not folded over or rolled up. Lay it out at to dry if necessary.
• Check that the hose is long enough. If not, add further hose secons.
• Check that the hose oat is correctly posioned.
• Watch the cleaner for more than ve minutes and check that each track changes direc-
on regularly.
The cleaner gets stuck on
the steps.
• Make sure the rotang seal on the top of the cleaner turns freely.
• Test the ow rate by checking the rotaon speed of the wheels (see secon 3.2).
• Check that the hose is not too long. If it is, shorten it by removing secons.
The cleaner does not climb
the pool sides.
• Check the ow rate, increasing it if necessary by acvang the lever on the Flowkeeper
valve (see secon 3.2).
• Check that the hose oat is correctly posioned.
The cleaner goes beyond
the water line.
• Reduce the ow rate (see secon 3.2).
• Check that the hose oat is correctly posioned.
The cleaner is on its side. • Check that the hose oat is correctly posioned.
If the problem continues, contact your reseller.
