1 Descriptions
There is 500W high- pressure short-arc spherical xenon lamp in the 500W Xenon light source,
which will form the arc discharge under the high-frequency and high- pressure. The
high-voltage short-arc spherical xenon lamp can output the point light source and strong and
stable continuous spectrum from UV to NIR. The visible light is approximate to the sun light.
This Xenon light source is the ideal light source for the IR detection, UV spectrophotometer,
fluorescence spectrophotometer and so on. And also used for solar simulation.

3 Xenon lamp light source housing
3.1 Light path
In the xenon lamp housing, the output light energy is enhanced by spheric reflect mirror behind
the xenon lamp.Collimating lens collects the light energy from the lamp and reflector.

3.2 Xenon lamp bulb installation method
Caution: You must make sure the power supply is turned off when you mounting
the xenon lamp!

1. Getting the light source housing for the first time, you should remove the light cup fixed frame as
shown above and keep the light cup fixed frame properly for the next transport.
2. Adjust the green hand wheel as below, make the vertical distance between height adjusting base
and translational base is about 4mm; Adjust the orange hand wheel, make the bulb supporting seat
centered around relative to the light source housing;
3. Before installation, you’d better swab the lamp with alcohol for fear that the transmittance and
life-time will not be detracted by the sweat on hand, oil pollution or dusty covered on the lamp
envelope;
4. Make the 150W xenon lamp ready (The thin end is the cathode);
5. Install the heat sink to the anode of xenon lamp bulb and make the screw tight;
6 . Put the cathode of lamp down and inside the setting location, then rotate bulb and make subline
on the bulb shell towards the direction of any one of the handwheel, maintain the constant
direction and fasten the positive power supply with positive fixed nut. Adjust the height of lamp,

make the cathode of lamp locate the center of reflector and make the screw tight.
3.3 Light source housing operation guide and safety precautions
3.3.1 Adjustment before the xenon lamp is lighted
1) Adjust 3 reflector turret at the same time, make the
diatance between light cup underside and adjusting
bracket base is about 3mm
2) Reove collimating lens barrel, then adjust shift knob
and high knob of lamp, to make the electrode and the
electrode imaging as shown in the picture on the
right:
the diatance between cathode and cathode imaging is
about 2mm.
3) After adjustment, restore the collimating lens barrel
and side plate in place.

3.3.2 Adjustment after xenon lamp was ignited
Caution:
Please wear the protective glasses before the following operations!
1) Start the power supply and light up the bulb, adjust the collimating lens barrel knob just above the
light tube in order to the image of the lamp filament appears on the wall（The diatance between
screen and light outlet is about 200mm）
2) Adjust the horizontal adjusting knob, which can make the lamp bulb self-emission light spot moves
left and right relative to the center of light tube(solid line spot as shown above, figure 1),make the
light spot symmetrical relative to the light tube center.
3) Adjust the vertical adjusting knob, which can make the lamp bulb self-emission light spot moves
up and down relative to the center of light tube(solid line spot as shown above, figure 2), make the
light bulb glow center and the light tube center coincided.
4) Finish the bulb position adjustment, it’s time to adjust the position of the reflector lamp cup. knob
3、4、5 of lamp cup at the back of lamp source as shown above can adjust the size and location of
reflected light spot.
5) By adjusting the knob 3 as shown above, make the reflected light spot moving left and right; By
adjusting the knob 4 as shown above, make the reflected light spot moving up and down; By

adjusting red knob 5, make the reflected light spot moving at 45 degree angle; By adjusting knob
3、4、5, make reflected light spot size and location coincide with light spot.
6) Parallel light adjustment. Firstly, you need to put a blank paper in about 250mm from the light
outlet, then by moving the blank paper(to the direction of the light outlet), you can observe the size
of light spot on the blank paper. if the size of light spot change obviously,you need to slide lens
cone until the size of light spot don’t change again.
7) If it is a multi outlet type light source in the room, according to the above steps before shooting the
main light path adjustment, to meet the use requirements by adjusting the optical path
corresponding to the side lamp side light path can be.
Note: the beam quality of the auxiliary light path may not be consistent with the main light path. When the actual
effect has been affected, the main optical path should be adjusted repeatedly so as to meet the use requirements.
3.3.3 Safety precautions
1) The output spectra of xenon lamps contain high levels of short wavelength ultraviolet radiation,
which can cause permanent damage to unprotected skin and eyes. Therefore, never look directly
into the output beam, any diffuse reflection, or any specular (mirror) reflection even for a short
period of time without suitable protective ultraviolet blocking filters or glasses.
2) Xenon lamps are always under pressures above atmosphere, so use extreme care when handling,
installing or mounting them to avoid any mechanical strains on the lamp. Protective glasses, heavy
gloves and a mask should always be worn when handling xenon lamps. Mechanical strain can
cause the lamp to shatter violently!
3) All xenon lamps, other than ozone free lamps, allow ozone gas to be generated while the lamp is
in operation. Always provide for proper ventilation to remove this ozone. High concentrations of
ozone are dangerous and can constitute a serious health hazard!
4) While the lamp is in operation, the instantaneous voltage will be more than 33,000 V and the
current will be larger than 25 A. Please let the lamp anode and the pole connection on trigger will
be contacted tightly.
5) In order to get the better light source stability, the lamp needs 30min preparing time.
6) The lamp in operation is very hot. Therefore, never touch the lamp envelops when it is in operation
or be turned off within 20 minutes.
7) In addition, please not cover the lamp housing with anything, because the Xenon lamp will
produce much heat when working.

Voltage indicator: output voltage display.
Current indicator: output current display.
Starting switch: the machine is in standby state after power on. After the switch is pressed, the
switch glows red, the instrument starts and glows, and the light fan starts; once the switch is
pressed again, the output is turned off, and the cooling fan is turned off after 5 minutes. When 5
minutes later, the fan is still working, the switch flashes, press, will not start the light source
again.(See below power internal and external control switch settings)
Set / actual current switch: press the button to set the output current of the observed
current meter; for the buttons up to show the actual current output in the current
indicator.
Current in / out selection: control output for local settings; press for external 0~5V
control output.
Voltage input: an external 0~5V voltage signal to control the output current of the
size of the input interface.
Current regulation knob: by adjusting the knob and setting button, the current value
is displayed on the current display table.
Front output interface: if the light source is connected to the front panel interface, the
1 and 2 pin interfaces of the connector of the rear panel must be short circuited,
otherwise the power supply will be protected.
Adjusting knob：
Fan：The working voltage (0-24V) of the light source fan can be adjusted by this knob
Max I：The maximum output current can be adjusted by this adjustment knob
Min I：The minimum output current can be adjusted by this adjustment knob
V-adj：The voltmeter can adjust the display calibration of the voltmeter
I-adj：The display calibration of ammeter can be adjusted by this knob
Indicator light：
Error-P：When the light is bright, the power supply shell is opened illegally, the starting switch is
invalid, the light source is closed, the light source fan works continuously, and the power supply
is released after the fault is eliminated
Error-L：When the light is bright, the light source chamber is illegally opened, the starting switch
is invalid and the light source is turned off; after the fault is removed, the power is re energized to
relieve the alarm
Power：The lamp is connected in parallel with the starting switch light. When the lamp continues

to shine, it indicates that the lamp source works; when flashing, it indicates that the closing time
of the light source is less than 5 minutes from the last light source; the light source fan can not
turn on the light; when it is extinguished, it indicates that the machine is in standby state and can
turn on the light at any time.
Hot：When the internal temperature of the power supply is too high, the lamp is used to prompt
the user and cut off the output.
Set：When the "set / actual current switch" is pressed, the Set light will be on, indicating that the
user can set the output current size at this time
Cur：When the setting / actual current switching is up, the Cur light is on, indicating that the
current meter shows the output current of the user
Local：When the light is on, the current value is indicated by the adjustment settings of the power
supply
Remote：When the indicator is bright, the output current is controlled by the external voltage input
Operating range current setting:
In the power on state, select the SET file, the current adjusting knob to adjust the maximum, Max
I in the table shows the values for the required maximum value; and then adjust the knob to the
minimum, Min I plate of the table shows the values for the required minimum, thus, complete the
working current range setting.

Cooling fan: fan for heat dissipation of power supply
Special output connector: interface to light source via standard interface
Power supply interface：input 100-220VAC，47-60Hz Max 10A；
Power input /insurance / switch：The power switch of the whole power supply is controlled by the switch
Ground：The grounding interface of the power supply equipment can avoid the damage of static electricity
and other equipment
External control selection and input：
When the switch "INT" is selected before the machine is energized, the light source switch is controlled by the
start button of the front panel. When the switch chooses "EXT" before the machine is energized, it is
controlled by the BNC port of the rear panel After the panel is connected with the high level BNC (5V), light
source start, front panel switches lit, the rear panel BNC is low (0V), the light source is shut off, the front panel
switches flashing light fan to work off after 5 minutes, the fan can start again after the closure of the light
source, when the time no, BNC high level is invalid.
4.3 Operation Guide
（1）Standard interface connection light source operation method:
1. Connecting the power supply line, the standard interface connects the light source, closes the master switch,
the front panel displays the voltage current value and the working status indicator.
2. Press the setting / actual current switch to make the Set light on. Press the power inside / outside control
button to the indicator light Local, indicating that the current is adjusted by the panel current adjustment knob.

The current value of the light source is set by the current adjusting knob, and is observed on the current display
table. After reaching the set value, the button is pressed again to display the actual current value state
3. Press start switch and output current to light.
（2）Front panel interface connection light source operation method:
1. Connect the power supply line, the front panel output positive and negative poles connected to the light
source, closed the main switch, front panel display voltage and current value and work status indicator. Notice
that the 1 and 2 pin interfaces of the connector on the rear panel must be short circuited, otherwise the power
supply will be protected.
2. Press the setting / actual current switch to make the Set light on. Press the power inside / outside control
button to the indicator light Local, indicating that the current is adjusted by the panel current adjustment knob.
The current value of the light source is set by the current adjusting knob, and is observed on the current display
table. After reaching the set value, the button is pressed again to display the actual current value state.
3. Press the soft start switch and output current to light the light.
（3）Operation method of light source controlled by external voltage input:
1. Connecting the power supply line, the front panel or rear panel standard interface can be used to connect the
light source, and the main switch is closed. The front panel displays the voltage current value and the working
status indicator.
2. Press the current inside / outside the selection, to the indicator Remote indicator light, access to 0~5V
external input control side, through the external regulation of the control current output.
3. Press the soft start switch and output current to light the light.
（4）Switch operation of external control power supply:
1. Before the machine is energized, switch the power switch of the rear panel to the "EXT" position. And
connect the rear external control BNC cable。

4. After the external control BNC cable input +5V, light source start, fan work; input 0V, light source closed,
fan continue to work for 5 minutes; 5 minutes after the fan closed, at this time the BNC input +5V, the light
source can start again. When the light source is closed less than 5 minutes, that is, when the fan is still working,
restart again invalid.
5 Unpacking Procedures
(1) Visual examination
Please do the following inspection for all packing box
Check whether the packaging is intact outside the equipment, there are
situations, such as damage, soaks, out of shape, etc..
Have above-mentioned situation please report immediately to Zolix. Or
Representatives
(2) Unpacking procedures
Please open the packing box and make sure Do-Not uses the heavy-duty tool
or opens rudely. With the proper tool according to the direction shown on the
packing box so as not to cause inside equipment to be damaged.
(3) After unpacks
Please check equipment have appearance damage or corrosion, etc..

Based on contract and packing list, check specification, mode, and quantity.
Have above-mentioned situation please report immediately to Zolix or
representatives
Please keep the packing box at least half year in order to return and transport
needing.
6 Safety instructions for products
Warning !!!
The interior part of the light source contains very intense
ultraviolet light.
It can cause serious damage to the eyes and skin!
Never look directly into the output beam!
Xenon lamp high voltage trigger is installed in the interior of
the light source.
Instantaneous high pressure can cause serious harm to
human body.
Never open the lamp housing when it is in operation!
The stabilized current supply of the light source uses
AC220V power supply
Never open the power supply case when it is in operation!
Do not use it beyond current range!

8 Product warranty clause
（1） Check warranty card or purchase voucher
In order to ensure the interests of customers, please ask dealers to fill in the product model, product number
and purchase date on the warranty card when you're buying. If the product needs maintenance service during
the warranty period. please show warranty card or relevant purchase certificate.
（2）Direct identification
If the warranty card or purchase voucher cannot be provided, the product label serial number is the warranty
start month。
note：If the manufacturing month is January 2002, the warranty period to the end of January 2003
