Knowing the Keys
Key

Power key
Press and hold to turn on or off airplane mode,
restart, power off, or toggle sound and silence.
Press to turn on/off the screen display.
Volume key
Press or hold to turn the volume up or down.
(Home key)
Touch to return to the home screen from any
application or screen.
Touch and hold to use the Google Assistant.
(Recent apps key)
Touch to view recently used apps.
Touch twice to switch to the most-recent app.
(Back key)
Touch to go to the previous screen.
Installing the nano-SIM Card and the microSDXC™
Card (Optional)
Both the nano-SIM card and the microSDXC card can be installed or
removed while the device is turned on. You need to unmount the
microSDXC card before removing it. See Using the microSDXC Card as
Portable or Device Storage.
WARNING!
To avoid damage to the device, do not use any other kind of SIM cards, or
any non-standard nano-SIM card cut from a SIM card. You can get a
standard nano-SIM card from your service provider.
1. Insert the tip of the tray
eject tool into the hole on
the card tray.
2. Pull out the card tray
and place the nano-SIM
card and the optional
microSDXC card on the
tray, as shown.
Carefully slide the tray
back into place.

Charging the Battery
Your tablet’s battery should have enough power for the tablet to turn on and
find a signal.You should fully charge the battery as soon as possible.
If the battery is low, there will be a pop-up message on the screen. The
status bar at the top of the screen will show the exact battery level.
WARNING!
Use only ZTE-approved chargers and USB Type-C cables.The use of
unapproved accessories could damage your device or cause the battery to
explode.
WARNING!
Do not remove the back cover. The battery is not removable. Removal
may cause fire or explosion.
1. Connect the adapter to the
charging jack.
2. Connect the charger to a
standard AC power outlet. If
the tablet is on, you’ll see a
charging icon, such as
or , appear in the status
bar.
3. Disconnect the charger
when the battery is fully
charged.
NOTE:
If the battery is extremely low, you may be unable to power on the device
even when it is being charged. In this case, try again after charging the
device for at least 20 minutes. Contact customer service if you still cannot
power on the device after prolonged charging.
Note on Smart Battery Protection Mode
Smart Battery Protection mode automatically optimizes the charging mode
of the high-density battery in the device based on the device’s usage history
in order to prolong the life of the battery.
Device plugged in for less than 24 hours: Battery will be in active
charging mode.
Device plugged in for 24 hours: Device will stop charging and enter
standby mode. The battery will start to slowly discharge to 50% (which
can take up to a few days depending on background processes of apps
and the system.)
Device remains plugged in after battery has discharged to 50%: Device
will alternate between charging and standby mode, maintaining a
battery level of between 50% and 70%.
If the device charging cable is removed and plugged back in, the 24-hour
timer resets and the battery will remain in an active charging state for
another 24 hours before entering standby mode again.
Extending the Battery Life
Active applications, screen brightness levels, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi usage,
and GPS functionality can drain your battery.You can follow the helpful tips
below to conserve your battery power:
Reduce the screen backlight time.

Lower the screen brightness.
Turn auto sync and Bluetooth off when not in use.
Disable the GPS function when not in use. Most applications using this
function will periodically query the GPS satellites for your current
location; each query drains your battery.
Use the power saver feature.

Press and hold the Power key to turn on your tablet.
To turn it off, press and hold the Power key to open the options menu.

Setting UpYour Tablet for the First Time
When you first power on your tablet after you purchase it or reset it to factory
settings (see Reset Options), you will need to set it up before using it. First
touch the language field to change the system language and touch START,
then follow the prompts to complete each step or skip to the next one.
Locking/Unlocking the Screen and Keys
Your tablet allows you to quickly lock the screen and keys (put the tablet
into sleep mode) when not in use and also to turn the screen back on and
unlock it when you need it.
Locking the Screen and Keys
To quickly turn the screen off and lock the keys, press the Power key.
NOTE:
To save battery power, the tablet automatically turns off the screen after a
certain period of time when you leave it idle. You will still be able to receive
messages and notifications while the screen is off.
Unlocking the Screen and Keys
1. Press the Power key to turn the screen on.
2. Swipe up on the screen to unlock the tablet, swipe away from at the
bottom right to open the Camera app, or swipe away from at the
bottom left to use the Google Assistant. You can also double-tap a
notification to open the related app.
NOTE:
If you have set an unlock pattern, a PIN, or a password for your device (see
Protecting Your Tablet With Screen Locks), you’ll need to draw the pattern or
enter the PIN/password to unlock your screen.
Using the Touch Screen
Your tablet’s touch screen lets you control actions through a variety of
touch gestures.
Touch –When you want to type using the on-screen keyboard, select
on-screen items (such as application and settings icons), or press
on-screen buttons, simply touch them with your finger.
Touch and Hold –To open the available options for an item (for
example, an app icon or a link in a web page), touch and hold the item.
Swipe or Slide –To swipe or slide means to quickly drag your finger
vertically or horizontally across the screen.
Drag –To drag, press and hold your finger with some pressure before
you start to move your finger. While dragging, do not release your finger

until you have reached the target position.
Pinch –In some apps (such as Maps and Photos), you can zoom in and
out by placing two fingers on the screen at once and pinching them
together (to zoom out) or spreading them apart (to zoom in).
Rotate the Screen –For most screens, you can automatically change
the screen orientation between portrait and landscape by rotating the
tablet.
NOTES:
The Auto-rotate feature needs to be enabled for the screen orientation
to automatically change. From the home screen touch > Display
and switch on Auto-rotate screen.
You can also access the screen rotation control by sliding down the
status bar twice and touching Auto-rotate.
Getting to Know the Home Screen
The home screen is the starting point for your device’s applications,
functions, and menus. You can customize your home screen by adding
shortcut icons, folders, and more.
Extended Home Screen Panels
Your home screen is extendable, providing more space for shortcut icons,
and more. Simply swipe left or right on the main home screen to see the

extended panels. You can add or remove home screen panels, or adjust their
order.
To add a new home screen panel:
1. Touch and hold an empty area of the home screen.
2. Swipe the home screen thumbnails and touch .
3. Touch the Back key or the Home key.
To delete a home screen panel:
1. Touch and hold an empty area of the home screen.
2. Swipe left or right to the thumbnail of the panel you want to delete.
3. Touch on the top right corner of a thumbnail.
4. If the panel is not empty, touch OK.
To move a home screen panel:
1. When there are at least one extended panel, touch and hold any empty
area of the home screen. You can slide left or right to view the panel
thumbnails.
2. Touch and hold a thumbnail and drag it left or right to the place you
need.
NOTE:
Touch at the top of a home screen thumbnail to set it as the main
home screen.
