Getting to Know Your Device
Appearance
The following figure is for your reference only.

Getting to Know Your Device
Indicators
When the device is powered on, the following icons may be
displayed on the LCD screen. For a description of the icons,
refer to the following table.

Installing the micro-SIM Card
1. Open the micro-SIM card slot cover, and install a micro-SIM
card to the micro-SIM card slot.
NOTE:
Do not remove the cover entirely, because it is connected with
the device.
WARNING!
To avoid damage to the device, do not use any other kind of SIM
cards, or any non-standard micro-SIM card cut from a SIM card.
You can get a standard micro-SIM card from your service
provider.

2. Close the micro-SIM card slot cover.
Charging Your Device
You can charge your device by using the USB cable or adapter.
Use the USB cable to connect your device and PC directly.
Use the adapter and USB cable to connect the wall outlet
and your device.

NOTE:
The plug only fits one way to connect your device. Do not use
excessive force to insert the plug.
Internet Access
Connection Scenarios
The device can access the Internet in two ways and it allows
multiple clients to surf on the Internet at the same time. The
following figures are for your reference only.
Cellular network mode: A micro-SIM card can be used to
access the Internet.

Internet Wi-Fi Mode: Your device can be connected to a
WLAN device (such as a hotspot device or wireless router)
through Wi-Fi to access the Internet. The WLAN device must
be already connected to the Internet.
NOTE:
Your device and the WLAN device must be in different subnets.
Connecting to Your Device
Using Wi-Fi
1. Power on your device.
2. Ensure that your computer or other client devices have
enabled Wi-Fi, and search for available wireless networks.
NOTE:
Refer to your Wi-Fi-enabled client device manual for further
details on how to search for wireless networks. If you use a
computer, you need to set your computer to obtain an IP
address automatically.

3. Select the Wi-Fi name (SSID) of your device, and click
Connect.
4. Enter the Wi-Fi password if necessary, and click OK.
NOTE:
Refer to the chapter Getting to Know the Wi-Fi SSID and
Password to get the default Wi-Fi SSID and password.
5. Wait until the client device is connected to your device
successfully.
Using a USB Cable
1. Connect a computer to your device with a USB cable.
2. Power on your device. Follow the system prompts to
complete the software installation.
NOTES:
If the system does not automatically launch installation, you
can double-click the device installation icon in My Computer
to install the software.
The driver of your device will be installed at the same time.

3. Wait until the computer is connected to your device
successfully.
Using the WPS(Optional)
If your client device supports WPS, you don’t have to input the
password manually after WPS has been available. Please do
the following steps:
1. Power on your device, and enable the Wi-Fi function on your
device.
2. Enable WPS function. Please press the FUNC Key.
3. Select WPS to start Wi-Fi Protected Setup authentication
process.
4. Enable the WPS function on your client to respond this
authentication process.
5. Follow the system prompts on your client to finish the
connection.
NOTES:
The device will wait for receiving the access request of
wireless access client within 2 minutes.
For the detailed operations about the client, please refer to
the client’s instruction.

Getting to Know the Wi-Fi SSID and
Password
You can use the following methods to get the default Wi-Fi SSID
and password.
View the label on the device.
Press the FUNC Key to access the options menu. Select
Device Info and the Wi-Fi SSID and password are
displayed on the screen.
Logging in to the ZTE Mobile
Hotspot Configuration Page
1. Ensure that the connection between your device and the
client device is correct.
2. Launch the Internet browser and enter http://192.168.0.1 or
http://rogers.rockethub in the address bar.
3. Enter the password to log in to the ZTE Mobile Hotspot
configuration page. The login page appears as follows. The
following figure is only for your reference.

NOTE:The default password is admin.
Changing the Wi-Fi SSID or
Password
1. Log in to the ZTE Mobile Hotspot configuration page.
2. Select Wi-Fi Settings > Main SSID.
3. Change the Network Name (SSID) or the Password in the
Main SSID area.
4. Click Apply.

Accessing the Internet
Cellular network mode
After a client device is successfully connected to your device,
you can access the Internet in Automatic or Manual mode. The
default mode is Automatic.

Your device is automatically connected to the
Internet, and you can surf on the Internet
through the client.
Manual
1. Log in to the ZTE Mobile Hotspot
configuration page.
2. Select Settings > Connection Mode >
Manual, and then click Apply.
3. Click to back to the home page, and
click or .
You can also press the FUNC Key and
select Data Connection. Select Yes or
No.
NOTE:
To modify the parameters of your device, log in to the ZTE
Mobile Hotspot configuration page.

Accessing the Internet
Internet Wi-Fi Mode
1. Log in to the ZTE Mobile Hotspot configuration page.
2. Select Wi-Fi Settings > Internet Wi-Fi.
3. Set the Internet Wi-Fi Switch to Enable, and click Apply.
Then set the Preferred Network to Wi-Fi, and click Apply.
4. Connect to the Wi-Fi hotspot.
The following two methods are for your reference.
Click Connect next to the Wi-Fi hotspot you want to
connect to in the Wi-Fi Hotspot area, enter a password in
the Password text box and click Yes.
Click Add Network, enter the Wi-Fi hotspot information in
the Add Wi-Fi Hotspot area, and click Apply.

After the client device is connected to the Wi-Fi hotspot
successfully, you can access the Internet.
ZTE Mobile Hotspot Configuration
Page screen
When you log in, the following interface appears.

1. Status Check the status of the current connection.
2. Current network panel Check status of mobile network
connection, connected devices, upload and download data
speed, or change related settings.
3. Statistic Check your approximate cumulative data usage,
and left statistic.
4. Status information Check device status information.
5. Index bar Select the function to be used from the index bar.
Connected Device View
Click on Access device.
All of wireless devices connected to your device will show on the
connected device window, including device name and MAC
address.

Connection Settings View
Click Settings on My router.
Connection mode
Select Connection Mode. The connection mode information is
shown in the following figure.
Automatic: The device will automatically connect to network
when it is powered on.
Manual: The device will connect to network manually.
Network selection
Select Network Selection. The network selection information is
shown in the following figure.

Automatic: The device will search available network
automatically.
Manual: The device will search available network manually.
APN
1. Select APN.
2. Select Manual. You can set the Access Point Name (APN) in
the following figure.

Mode: If a fixed APN is provided by your service provider,
select Manual APN. Otherwise, please select Auto APN, and
the device will automatically obtain parameters.
Profile: It contains one or more profile names.
PDP Type: IPv4/IPv6/IPv4&IPv6.
Profile Name: It refers to the name that you assign to the
new profile.
APN: Access Point Name. The APN contains 0-9 a-z A-Z . -
and it can't start with and end with .or -.
Authentication: It is provided by your Internet Service
Provider(ISP).Password Authentication Protocol (PAP)
provides a simple method without encryption for the peer to
establish its identity using a 2-way handshake.
Challenge-Handshake Authentication Protocol (CHAP) is
used to periodically verify the identity of the peer using a
3-way handshake.
User Name: User name is used to obtain authentication from
the ISP when the connection is established.
Password: Password is used to obtain authentication from
the ISP when the connection is established.
Click "Set as default" to set this profile as the default profile.
NOTE:
Please disconnect the device from the network before changing
the settings.

Wi-Fi Settings
You can set up wireless hotspot so that your mobile phone or
laptop could access network via it. Click Wi-Fi Settings on My
router.
Main SSID
Select Main SSID.
Multi SSID: 2 SSID can be used at the same time.
Network Name(SSID): SSID can be understood as network
name. When change the SSID, please enter a string less than
32 characters as the name for your Wi-Fi. The string contains
numbers, letters (a-z, A-Z), special characters

(!#()+-./%=?@^_{|}~) and space, and it cant start and end
with space.
Broadcast Network Name(SSID): If enable this function, the
device will broadcast SSID. Other wireless devices will
discover and connect to this device.
Security Mode:
OPEN: Unencrypted mode. There are risks that
network will be used by unauthorized individuals. This
encryption mode isn’t recommended.
WPA2(AES)-PSK: It is the secure version of WPA
with implementation of the 802.11i standard.
WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK: WPA Pre-Shared Key
(WPA-PSK). WPA2-PSK is the secure version of
WPA with implementation of the 802.11i standard.
Password: The pass-phrase contains 0-9 a-z A-Z ! # ( ) + - . / %
= ? @ ^ _ { | } ~
Max Station Number: You can select the maximum number
of wireless terminals which can connect to the device.
Guest SSID
Select Guest SSID, and set Multi SSID to Enable.
